Unfortunate, but understandable. I think for me, it is the opposite: it's been such a long time since there has been a decent wild west themed game, let alone with this much freedom, exploration, and detail. Just the fact that it is based in the wild west makes me excited for it. I'm always looking for new worlds to explore (which is why I absolutely love open-world games), and this is certainly something new for me.
You should at least rent the game though. You never...
Indeed. A lot of the people who moan about the removal of Other OS seem to not only support, but encourage Hotz in his work. I don't get it -- sure he's attempting to rectify an issue (by creating shoddy work-arounds that may not even work), but people forget that the whole issue with the Other OS removal is due in a large part to him and his arrogance.
People just want to find any way to blame Sony for problems when they completely ignore the true sources. Even when...
I watched just enough to cement my decision to buy this day one, but not spoil the game for me.
From the stream, the game does look truly beautiful, but does the voice acting seem a bit iffy to anybody else besides me?
"I didn't even know the game existed 5 minutes ago"
Please give me your gaming card and exit the building. Seriously bro, where have you been? This is bound to be one of the biggest games of the year (or even the decade) and you've never heard of it? That's pretty surprising to me, but I don't know, I guess it's possible. Somehow.
Wonder where that LOLconsoles fool is at right now... Just sayin.'
But anyways, it really is a shame that the PC fellows will not be able to play this their way. Sure, I'm sick of the elitists, but the same can be said of console fanboys. There really is no need to demonize the majority of PC gamers.
Anyways, this game plus mod support and the extra graphics effects that modern GPUs are capable of would have been absolutely killer. At the shame time, ...
I hate it too, but it seems like every modern racer contains rubber-banding AI.
Guess you just gotta make do with what the industry gives you, and I'm sure that the game itself plays well enough to make the rubber-banding less noticeable.
But I do agree that this crap needs to be done away with. A race won or a race lost should be just that; no second chances for you or the AI by this cheating method.
Mmmmmm, taste all that saturated fat.
I mean market saturation, of course. But what's the difference? It's unwanted, bland, and is bad for you.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of why we need the Open Zone back.
You do indeed have to be wary, although I disagree that this game has flown under the radar. It appears to be receiving GTA IV levels of hype (as evidenced by this article), and that is NOT a good thing.
GTA IV: A brilliant game destroyed by the hype machine and ensuing mass disappointment of gamers.
Red Dead Redemption: Looks to be a brilliant game that is becoming enveloped by excessive hype, leading to disappointment when it is revealed that the developers...
They may both be published and branded as "Rockstar Games," but that doesn't change the fact that Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar North are two entirely different development studios on opposite ends of the planet. In fact, you may better know Rockstar San Diego as "Angel Studios," which is responsible for the original Midnight Club and Midtown Madness series. As electricshadow says below, at least know what you are talking about before you claim that I am wrong.
...These are two ENTIRELY different developers. I'm not even sure that Rockstar as a whole should be comparing the two.
Honestly, it's just silly. RDR has about as much in common with GTA IV as Fallout 3 does. Rockstar is correct that this is not just "GTA IV with horses," but that statement on its own shows that comparisons should not be made.
The two games have absolutely nothing in common besides the general genre, something which alone ...
The biggest thing CoD needs to borrow from Reach (well not just Reach, since this is an expected feature in just about every game except for CoD, go figure) is a voting system, as this article mentions.
I surely can't be the only one who finds it utterly ridiculous that in Modern Warfare 2, I have no control over the maps that I wish to play. Everyone is at the mercy of a completely faulty random system that ends with either:
a) Not seeing a map for sever...
Okay then guys, thanks for reaffirming me. I had only a vague recollection of what I had read, so I was not entirely confident in my judgment.
Very very good to know that most classic levels will be available from the start. I'd love to see some of the more innovative LBP1 creators edit their older levels and work in new features. Definitely could breath new life to old favorites.
Ah, well I am mistaken then.
That's a bit disappointing, though understandable given the large amount of content that would have to transfer, along with having to sort out any potential conflicts between new and old features, etc.
I'm fairly certain that I read somewhere (in Game Informer?) that all LBP1 content will be transferable to LBP2.
Nothings official, of course, but that's what the word is on that matter right now.
You are correct. It is not voice chat that ruins the experience, it is the people that use it.
Maturity, respect, and teamwork all very well validate the existence of voice chat and automatically pushes it over the cons. Team based games, when playing with an intelligent team, take on a whole new dimension when everybody exhibits those three qualities. I'd even go as far as saying that to get the most out of any multiplayer game, headsets (and intelligence) are a must. ...
...Then I realized that it was doing nothing but hurting myself and hurting the industry. By making myself so delusional, my contributions to the gaming world were narrow, tiny, and and often in the wrong. In this day and age, the industry needs proper guidance from the consumers who know it best -- us; and we can't do that if the gaming community is full of fanboys. People need to treat games as an object of appreciation, not hate, desire, or greed. Developers work harder than some of us...
...I honestly believed that MoH would be just as idiotic/cheesy/pathetic as Modern Warfare was, but... After seeing this, I'm going to have to reconsider.
It's been a while since I've seen a FPS grounded in reality, and if MoH can pull off the emotional aspect well, without making it just a superficial element, they will already have created a more believable/better modern warfare scenario than Call of Duty has ever accomplished.
If they don'...
Spend 5 minutes on Xbox Live, and it's not difficult to at least be inclined to agree somewhat here. The games themselves are not responsible, as the majority of them are marketed and directed towards more mature audiences, but it is still troubling to see that parents believe that their immature, ignorant children should play mature games rather than engage in activities that will aid in their development and growth, both socially and intellectually. Only when that growth has become prev...
You know, normally I would say that you should mature before becoming involved in such matters... but damn, the best I could do at 13 was make a Xanga profile, haha. Props to you for the effort.
