This guy is disappointed because 2 entirely unconfirmed and flimsy rumors didn't come to fruition. That's the author's own fault, and not any on the part of Sony. I thought that Nintendo and Sony both did an excellent job with their presentations. It's gonna be difficult to pick a "winner" between the two of them, but Sony certainly did not disappoint in any way.
Never. Even now I avoided it. :p
Do you not understand what a surprise is? A surprise is something that you don't know about prior to it being announced... And because you don't know about it, then you just assume that it doesn't exist? That's not right.
Use some logic.
I've been praising Criterion for the past several hours, and damn, I can't just can't stop. It's not every day that a franchise is given new life solely out of love for the game, especially for something that was looking as hopeless as the NFS series was.
Exotic cars, exotic locations, intense racing action... Yep, sounds like a proper Need for Speed game alright, the kind that I've been waiting over 7 years to see once more.
Criterion is officially one of the most epic developing studios in existence. I can't think of many others who have jumped in and saved a franchise from the throes of death purely because they loved the series. There may be less money to be made in catering to the core gaming audience rather than the casuals that the previous few NFS games have been directed to, but I'm so glad that that one factor hasn't once again clouded EA's judgment.
Like everyone else i...
"This is by far one of the biggest things to happen to gaming"
...I stopped reading right there. How anybody can believe that a giveaway is one of the biggest things to happen to gaming is beyond me. This person obviously doesn't care about actual games and thus I give them no more of my time.
Perhaps, but it isn't like we've exactly seen a lot of coverage on the game. It feels like it was only covered once at last year's E3, and then it promptly dropped off the radar. Or maybe I just missed all of the subsequent coverage, I don't know.
Yeah, if you've only been gaming since 2007 on a 360 then you'd be doing yourself a HUGE favor by getting a PS2. You've got a lot of catching up to do, bud.
Woah, you're right and I didn't even notice until now. What the hell happened? I even remember them mentioning it in the conference at some point, yet it got not even a second of time for itself...
I first bought one of their wireless controllers for the PS2... It made me forever hate wireless controllers until I purchased my PS3 and found that bluetooth is indeed the sh*t.
I'm never touching a Mad Catz product again, for sure.
...No, trust me, you HAVEN'T played a proper Need for Speed game. Check out the series pre-Underground, because all of the games you mentioned are Need for Speed in name only, and nothing else.
The "articles" that are coming from this website are absolutely atrocious. Every single one so far has been no more than a couple sentences long. The alternate source does a better job for crying out loud.
Anyways, I've never heard of this "Gun Club" before, so I guess I'm out of the beta, but hopefully this increases the final quality of the game greatly. I'm actually sort of excited for Medal of Honor. More so than for CoD Black Ops at least....
The trailer even resembles the classic NFS intros that I used to love so much. It's amazing what kind of magic can happen when a developer who truly loves and cares about the franchise and its fans gets on board.
<3 Criterion
At least do some research into the franchise before you decide to comment. NFS has been and will be (except for Shift, but that isn't a *true* NFS game) an arcade racer.
...Criterion states on their website that the game is 100% inspired from the original NFS games. That they want to take the series back to those days.
Criterion has just received a massive respect boost from me; these guys truly do care about the gamers.
I thought that the day would never come when we gamers would get the true Need for Speed back. Today is a good day.
Just no. This is going to take NFS back to its roots. Straying from the tried and true formula is what killed the franchise. And now that the franchise is finally getting back on track, people suddenly don't want it back?
Let me tell you, I'd take a classic NFS game over Burnout any day. And this new Hot Pursuit game certainly looks like its going to be classic NFS all over again. Brilliant, I honestly did not see this coming with the way that EA has mismanaged the f...
...I never thought I'd see the day. Ladies and gentlemen, Criterion may single handedly save the entire NFS franchise. This is groundbreaking news, to say the least.
If this really does take us back to the days when NFS was THE racing franchise, I will die a happy, happy man.
Really takes me back to the good old days when the franchise was alive and kicking. This is what NFS is truly about.
After suffering over the last few years with the crap that has been put out, I'm so glad that EA has finally realized that Undercover was not NFS. ProStreet was not NFS. Carbon was not NFS. Underground was not NFS.
This is Need for Speed.
I believe that Sony swooped in and offered to aid Valve in the development and any issues that arise. I mean, with a bit of help to get them started, there never really was any reason for Valve not to have the ability to code on the PS3. It was just a lack of effort, that's thankfully getting a jump-start now.
