We've seen what... a few gameplay captures and a trailer? And you are already proclaiming it a let down?
Look at that video. Look at it. That is classic NFS right there. That is GOLDEN.
And even if NFS isn't your thing, you ruin all credibility by attempting to compare it to Motorstorm 3. Neither game is going to be released for a while and neither game are similar at all. You can't compare them.
I always tell myself "I'm gonna get my platinum trophy for this game, I'm gonna do it," and then I always end up getting down to 1 or 2 trophies left and losing all enthusiasm I had and I never get those final couple of trophies. It doesn't feel good and has totally put me off of trophy whoring. Maybe that's a good thing.
Props to the author for mentioning the Trilby series. Those games were more intense and stuck with me longer than a lot of commercial games! I highly suggest that anybody who hasn't played them give the series a try here:

Download and play 5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 Days a Sacrifice, in that order. It's good stuff, tr...
Haha, nice imagery. Well I was just making a logical guess and I haven't seen any information either way, so I guess we just have to wait and see.
But whatever, it's on now. :0
I'm fairly confident that it won't be open world, seeing as this is going to be old school NFS.
20 locations with 20 BASE tracks. Then off of those base tracks you get the 70-100 variations, but a lot of those variations are going to be quite different from the base tracks so it's nothing to frown upon.
Look in the comments underneath the article. Jeff Rubenstein says that there will be 40 tracks, but I think that he may have just let slip an incorrect number seeing as the only number that's ever been thrown around is "20 tracks."
I don't know; the best bet is still to believe that there will be 20 locations.
Note that we don't actually know what all the tracks are. So while both are probably unlikely (especially Adelaide haha), there's going to be at least a few new tracks that you will hopefully enjoy.
I agree that 20 tracks isn't great, but when you take into account the 70+ variations, a lot of which are radically different from the base tracks, it's not so bad.
Not really sure what you're trying to say... But if it is that racing sims have covered most of the tracks in the world....... then you're dead wrong. There are enough competitive tracks in the world to last a lifetime!
1000 cars again... All premium.

Ah, the potential to release updates for the standard cars is something that I had in mind. It definitely would be great to see such a thing happen; GT5 would be one of the only games that I ever actually would buy packs/DLC for.
I'll be incredibly disappointed as well, but then I'll just remember the great fun I had with GT4 and all will be (somewhat) better. Basically, I need my GT fix.
However, that doesn't excuse PD from being overly ambitious. They should have gone the GT3 route and used less cars, but made every car "premium." I mean, GT3 was the first game on the new PS2 engine so it had to be scaled back to meet quality standards, so why should GT5 be any difference? GT6 ...
Disappointing, if true. Looks like Yamauchi may have been correct in saying that GT5 is almost too ambitious for the current-gen.
I'm still holding out for clarification on the matter though. Even 5-10 different "generic" cockpits would be better than nothing at all or shadow cockpits. That seems like it would be the best option for PD to take, but I don't know.
24 hour races are pretty much guaranteed to be in already, seeing as how they have consistently featured in previous GT games and we have Circuit de la Sarthe and the Nurburgring 24 Hour Track confirmed for GT5.
Track creator would definitely be an interesting feature though.
Read the comments on the article. The only information we have on this is poorly worded and being interpreted in several ways. You CANNOT take a certain stance on the matter, because at the moment, it could go any way.
Personally, I believe that all cars will have interiors, just not all as detailed as the premium cars, but I'm going to wait (as should you) until there is official clarification on the matter.
Nobody start jumping to conclusions.
No problem. I wish that the NASCAR series would be a bit more fleshed out in GT5, but like you said, the game is so huge that I really can't complain. It's definitely going to be interesting to see how GT5's more traditionally road-course, production car based physics translate to something like NASCAR.
From what I've gathered so far, there is only going to be included a few select models and drivers as well as a few ovals. So likely we will see a mini-series or mini-tournament in the same structure as the championships in GT4. But that's just my logical assumption at this point.
Fortunately you can take the cars anywhere though, so it opens up a lot more racing opportunities than you would have otherwise had.

I've been confused this entire time about what the hell Forza 4 actually is, because all I saw at E3 was Forza 3 with Kinect controls. I honestly thought people were just mislabeling it or it was some stupid DLC addon with a terrible name like "Forza 4 (for) Kinect."
But no. It's apparently actually Forza 4. Right now, this looks in no way to be a sequel or anything even worthy of a disc based production; and you just DON'T continue to use the numbered s...
I live in Texas so I grew up watching NASCAR, and to me it is some of the most exciting racing there is (along with IndyCar)... but you know what, most forms of motorsport are exciting to me. People get too attached on the fact that most of the NASCAR tracks consist of ovals, and they get blinded and don't see that there is ALWAYS some exciting battle or another happening on the track. There's always something to hold your attention and races can never be called until the final few la...
Basically Burnout? That's blasphemy right there.
