If you played Journey, it's very similar but I would describe it as more relaxing and a bit less "gamey" feeling. It really is a fantastic experience though and the presentation and soundtrack combined with the profound and symbolic message will leave you with spine -tingling moments of euphoria. If you enjoyed Journey or Unfinished Swan the game is a must buy. It's somewhat for a certain type of gamer but I would also argue that it's one of those games that is executed ...

The shallowest point. Well done.

Yeah imo Vita nailed hardware but the DS has had a monopoly on all of the key handheld games for like a decade now. It's really a shame. It's basically a domino effect since sales decide software support and handhelds are normally favoured by a younger audience and a younger audience tends toward a Nintendo system for obvious reasons ranging from price to Pokemon. Monster Hunter exclusivity actually sealed the deal though. As well as no games like GTA or GoW.

Seems like my kind of game. My friend who games exclusively on PC told me about it months ago. It's cool that I can get it on a console as of last week and the sequel is set to come out in the next month or two on PC and consoles simultaneously. That and your choices in the first game impact the sequel which is new for a SRPG (but not so new for those Bioware veterans that made the game).

It is severely lacking in the indies department as well though. I'm pretty sure the quantity of indie titles from greatest to least per platform goes something like: PC, PS4, Vita, X1, Wii U...no idea where the 3DS stands here tbh.

P.S. I say this as someone who owns a Wii U and has gotten plenty of hours of enjoyment out of it. It does look like a replacement is on the horizon, but if Zelda turns out to be the perfect swan song, I'll be content...though a true 3D Mar...

Same goes for PSone classics. I have nearly 20 of those and I never even played a few of them because I figured they would be tied to my PSN account for more than one generation. It's not like they're demanding to emulate. I can get an emulator going on most low-end computers in no time. I hope they're on the way. Digital software consolidation should definitely be a goal for the end of this generation and the start of the next.

Realistically (i.e. with basic business logic in mind), I think the best and most plausible middle-ground would be to do what the Wii U does and offer the classics you own digitally from last gen for a small upgrade fee. The PS4 classics library expands, Sony still hits paydirt, and loyal fans who may have already bought a game twice don't get burned. It's not like it would be hard to program some kind of cross-buy discount associations between similar store items. I'm sure the re...

Three differences...

1. Street Fighter was never an Xbox exclusive franchise, so there wouldn't be aas much animosity from the fans.

2. The PS4 is the best-selling system and historically tends to sell more games within a variety of genres. In other words, this article wouldn't exist because Xbox sales are simply not as make or break for the franchise.

3. This is less about money hatting since Sony is helping make SFV a reality rather...

Tr sales on PC are nearly a tenth of what they are on either console and the franchise gained all of its popularity on the original PlayStation.

3652d ago 4 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yep. The originally PS exclusive franchise is now suddenly an Xbox franchise to cope with the fact that PS's most popular franchise is a similar genre. It's really just a preemptive strike on the impending U4 but might also be a desperation tactic after Halo 5 being the lowest rated game in the series (and Uncharted is the PS Halo until TLoU2). Amazingly, there are a few million gamers out there that would love for U4 to come out with an 85 meta. We'll wait and see but I'm dou...

AC sometimes comes to mind. The best things about the TR reboots are actually what it borrows from UC. Ex. Exploring interesting ruins, TPS gameplay that can allow for stealth, and those on-rails cinematic set-pieces (which TR still needs to do a ton of work on). It still has yet to provide quality story, characters, and writing though.

I thought the TPS aspect of TR was really weak in the initial reboot. ND basically perfected TPS gameplay in my books from 2 on. TR gets its sense of adventure and openness from what is basically a ubisoft philosophy of game design where they just fill the game with mostly uninteresting side-filler and collectibles. I'll vouch for the crafting though. We clearly saw that in TLoU and it was a nice addition there as well. Uncharted is ultimately about masterfully telling a linear story/adve...

It's much better...in that it is actually consistently cinematic and is not filled to the brim with infinite loop filler quests. The graphics are also better, the play time is longer (personally... TW3 = 120 hours and F4 = 75 hours), and gwent is essentially crack in card form. I beat it about two months ago and my experience was basically bug free back then.

37,000 for a truck actually isn't that much at all. Attempting to brag about success is wholly irrelevant to the topic of being ripped off and does not even serve as a general justification for the masses regardless. There is nothing inherently wrong with being frugal on a small scale. If someone saved $5 on every purchase over $10 that they made, they would save tens of thousands over the course of their lifetime. There is also the matter of principle. If someone feels the product is not...

The story for XII was trash. I can get over the easy MMO combat but the characters and lore of the game hardly live up to the Ivalice name. Tactics and even tactics advance have vastly superior stories. Final fantasy should have never been a simplified to a poorly written Star Wars fan fiction. The plot isn't even well-rounded or cohesive enough to be appreciated on a literary level. Even bad movies have more character development and meaningful plot progression.

Great article. Completely agree with the guns point. I'm hesitant about mobile gaming but that's not to say I haven't played some great games on my ipod and phone. It's essentially indie gaming. You just have to watch out for the grindy microtransactions games.

Sometimes I think it would be best for Nintendo to be a developer for the home consoles while still keeping their handheld division going. Unless they can really pull themselves out of the hole and embrace modern gaming (i.e. more third party support, less gimmicks, and maybe less reliance on nostalgia?). A lot of the games being pumped out got their relative start on the N64 (Yoshi's Story, SSB, Mario Party, Star Fox, etc.) and things haven't really changed.

Would only buy it if it had Wii U BC. Still pretty bitter that the Wii U's life cycle has ended somewhat prematurely and that we've been left in the dark about the new Zelda (the one that also happens to look 10 times better than TP (toilet paper) and SS). A 2016 release for NX gives the Wii U a 4 year life cycle. Pretty mediocre.

Good call. Checkpoints have been a staple in the series since Super Mario World I think?
