I actually hope they keep ESRAM, maybe just up the size of it in addition to more RAM/CPU power. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to make the Ram upgradable similar to PC IMO.
Apparently being a more powerful console only matters while PS4 has the power gap lead. Suddenly when there is talk of the OPTION of being able to grab a more powerful console...then these are bad ideas. I honestly think that is why there is the majority of the negativity surrounding the idea of more powerful PS4's or X1's. It opens the floodgates and means that potentially PS will not be the more powerful console anymore, and that scares people that have staked their whole online ...

If its completely forward and backward compatible....and just an option...what's the harm? I'd by an updated version of each console but I know not everyone will. If people here keep saying that graphics and power are what define consoles....saying dont do it sounds more like fear that they would
WW2 or modern day without all the futuristic stuff that just lends itself to cheap tactics....some of that is ok...but its too much now. WaW,BO1&2 were great IMO and BO3 does some great things..but I could do with it being MORE realistic than the trend its going in

Um, didn't MS address this kind of thing first? How is that "following a lead"? I VERY DISTINCTLY remember several people on this site talking about how horrible it would be for MS to do that, and saying things like "MS is admitting that X1 is too weak"....then suddenly when PS4.5 rumors came out...now it's a GREAT idea (according to the people that were saying it was a bad idea when it was rumored MS would be doing it)...and now it's "MS following Sony&...
It better. It's the only highly anticipated quality exclusive left on PS4 this year...and PS4 has outsold X1 nearly 2 to 1...so if it sells anything less than 2:1 over Gears...that's a sad day indeed.
...not quite fair...if you want to play that game...with Horizion being delayed. PS only has ONE highly anticitpated exclusive this year...so now they can afford to put ALL of their advertising into one game...MS has to split it between QB, Gears, Crackdown, FH3, Halo Wars 2, Potentially Sea of Thieves and Recore...and who knows what else.

What in the world makes you think ONLY X1 gamers would benefit? PS4 may be selling at a 2 to 1 console sales ratio, but despite that, Xbox has a higher rate of online membership renewals, and last time Sony and MS released stats about number of hours played online, X1 was beating PS2 2:1 by over 1 billion hours. It'll most likely be an amazing game, but calling it GOTY before playing it is exactly the kind of thing that is wrong this gen. It shows people form their opinions around what they WANT to believe and/or what they think they SHOULD say.
The worst part about that kind of thing is it isn't just fanboys on boards that do that...it's people that now actually write "legit" reviews too. While I am sure I will love UC4 too, I'm not so blind to not see...
If games being on PC negatively impacted console gaming then why don't Mulitplats do best on PC?
No matter what MS does, it's all a win for them...in fact it'd probably be best to release it on both, wider audience means more games sold....means more profit....means more re-investment in games.

If there is one thing I REALLY hate about gaming is when devs give me the chance to play a game for free to test it out and THEN the try to update the game and make it better. Really pisses me off. Why can't they just rush a product that will piss me off later after I paid money for it??? /s
I admit I haven't kept up to date about these rumors...but I've been wondering lately if people are looking at this all wrong. Usually these rumors are accompanied by rumors of a "new controller". What if this new hardware is really an external processor of some sort, that helps allow for the use of true VR through Occulus/Vive similar to what PSVR is using....???
