I was under the impression that the 360 has consistently sold better in the UK. I'm not arguing or anything, I just could have sworn that's how sales have been.
I did too, but I don't see any reason to be surprised. MGS3 was in a jungle setting, featured different characters, and was a very different kind of stealth game than mgs1 and 2. I really missed Solid Snake, personally.
I don't know if they checked their website, but there is this question on one of their blogs that asks "Are there any game licenses that you guys would possibly be interested in" and they respond "well, there is one that we've worked on before that we'd like to get our hands on". I thought it was pretty funny, but Activision has the license right now and are working on the next bond game, so maybe one or two games down the line they might get something going.
@jack
It has no revolutionary physics engine? That's your best defense? I don't know if you remember, but Kojima tried that before in MGS2. Remember all the little effects like when icecubes on the countertop that would melt more slowly together than apart, or how the cardboard box withered away when it was raining outside? Do you remember what happened? I distinctly remember a couple of reviews complaining about this and saying that we'd rather have them spending time making the game...
when Haze starts getting good reviews and previews all the naysayers have started to hide. Good thing we had faith in FRD eh?
Yes and no. I've been arguing a similar point in favor of haze, but you have mistaken one thing. Haze does have bots, but the problem is that it only has 2-player splitscreen, which really dissapointed me. 4-player coop requires either a lan or online. Still, the only game I've heard of that features bots at all is Unreal tournament, and that has no splitscreen at all.
It may not be the best looking game, but Free Radical has a really good reputation in my books, and their games have relied on incredible gameplay. Also remember that Ubisoft delayed the game, not FRD, because they already had a nice bit of profit for last fiscal year.
Whether you like it or not, it will be the FIRST ps3 shooter with bots in multiplayer, which is what excites me the most about it.
Bethesda isnt THAT bad. You make them sound like EA. YES we're all going to miss the old Fallout, but Bethesda is the best pair of hands Interplay could have given the license to (beside maybe Bioware).
I can tell you didn't like Oblivion, but myself, along with many other wrpg fans did. Yes, it oversimplified gameplay, what can you do ? What would you rather, a game like Oblivion, or a game like the ps2 Brotherhood of Steel ? THAT was a bad game.
but sometimes, a guy just has to move on :)
Well, with the way things are, "exclusive from the start" doesn't mean anything. We've seen piles of games like Lost Planet, DMC, GTA, and so on, but considering the way third parties are, it costs much much less and makes much more profit to make a multiplatform game than make two exclusive games. There are exceptions ofcourse, like Kojima and a few other game directors that prefer to keep the integrity of the game intact and making it for one console to make it the best it can be...
Sony really is liking these bundles eh? GTA, GT, MGS, Motorostorm, three different blu-ray movie packs... I full expect Resistance duet packs, LBP packs, etc etc.
The thing is, big games like GTA cost a lot more to keep exclusive than a game like this. Considering it cost Microsoft 50 million JUST to get exclusive content (and not even exclusivity of the game) imagine what it would have cost Sony to have made the game ps3 exlusive, despite their late start, smaller installed base, etc etc. Considering that the most expensive game ever made cost 70 million, its pretty clear that a lot of these 3rd party developers are profit-minded and have a lot more t...
Well, I get the striking feeling that Sony may have paid some big money for MGS4, but for the most part they save their resources for 1st and 2nd party these days. Name some big third-party exclusives (that have already been released) that have come out for the ps3. There are a lot more coming (tekken 6, and FF13 come to mind) but lately... nothing. They paid Epic to make the UE3 engine more compatible with the ps3, and I think making Unreal Tournament a timed exclusive may have been part of ...
Wasn't it Ubisoft the one who cancelled the promotion to begin with?
Sounds good to me. I don't think there is a fps single player campaign I have enjoyed more. I can only imagine what they can do with geo-mod nowadays.
The dungeon siege movie was the last straw. Seriously, for that kind of budget, you can't make a movie that bad.
The director claims Haze is bigger than GT5:P ? Wow, bold words.
Ubisoft is just publishing. Free Radical is doing all the work.
Besides giving Microsoft more money... Why did we need Vista, exactly?
"Its more secure" doesn't negate the fact that operating systems are NEVER completely secure.
Its hard to limit to as low a number as possible for this list. Technically, you could cite Unreal Championship, since it was the first fps to be semi-big on live or Cod4 because of the new implements it has added, but those don't come close to the impact of doom, quake or tribes, I don't think. Halo 2 didn't really change a whole lot, maybe you could say it was one of the first truly refined online fps, but whether it should make the list is debatable.
