That sounds really surprising to me. I personally don't think that the ps2 could handle games like Final Fantasy 12, but have trouble with disgaea 3. Oh well, I'm sure I'll probably end up playing it anyway.

She called Turning Point a great game.

The ps3 has pretty much outsold the 360 in Europe and Japan for quite some time. The only region that has had better sales for the 360 is the united states, and recently that's where the ps3 has shown better sales. As of right now, the ps3 has sold about 10.5 million, while the xbox is somewhere around 18 I think.

Edit: What is there to disagree about? These are sales facts.

Ever hear of a little game called Uncharted? Ratchet and Clank? Unreal Tournament 3? And whether they're exclusive or not, Call of Duty 4, Devil May Cry, Orange Box, Guitar Hero and others are definitely good enough to tide gamers over until the big hitters come.

That's not quite right. When the dreamcast's sales were in third place, and it was falling fast, its pricecuts really made no difference. Plus, you need to realize that 150 GBP isn't "$199" its the equivalent of about 302 dollars. thirdly, trying to get more product out there while there are reports of 16 to 70% failure rates that haven't been completely fixed yet is only going to shoot themselves in the foot.

My point still stands. No blu-ray player will be beneath 100 dollars this year, and probably not next.

Wow, that rant was really unnecessary. I'm not pro-hd-dvd by any means, if you had read my posts you would have caught that easily. But hd-dvd players have been as low as 99 dollars since NOVEMBER! That is a fact! Maybe I should have been more clear, but while sony didn't technically buy out movie studios, they all knew beforehand that blu-ray was going into the ps3 before they knew to back blu-ray. That's a multi-billion dollar investment right there.

The storage capacity is ...

Price has always been a major factor, especially in this generation. With MS's price cut, it not only makes their consoles sell faster, but it also slows down sales from people anticipating a sony price-cut, which seems likely because it will help to grab the gamers adopting a console solely for GTA. Plus, people are still waiting for 80 gb ps3 consoles with backwards compatibility. Blu-ray can't be overlooked, but there aren't any big ps3 exclusives coming in March. While there are some huge...

as glad as I am that this is finally over and done with, its good that there is competition out there. Sony went about the format war very arrogantly buying out movie studios while the big problem right now is price. Hd-dvd could have been affordable for casuals by 2008. Blu-ray needs competition to keep the price going down, otherwise it will never reach mass adoption. These 300-500 dollar blu-ray players just aren't going to cut it if you want the format to go mainstream. people like me may...

you don't believe these games will come out? Killzone 2 has been in production for four to five years, and besides Surfer girl, there is absolutely no indication it should be delayed any longer than it already has, considering the big priority sony has placed on it. LittleBigPlanet is really a simple game without major programming needed, so I'm assuming it'll release and there might be expansions or episodic content later if they didn't get it right the first time. Considering Insomniac has ...

I think LBP will be as big, or bigger than these six. I honestly believe it has the potential of being as big as Crash or Sonic were. Not quite Mario, but everyone seems to be buzzing about it, and it just seems like all-around fun for everyone.

Right now, I feel like its a little weak in comparison. Its the console I chose of the three next-gen systems, but I bought it on the promise of good software, not necessarily on good software. Resistance, Uncharted, and R&C were absolutely incredible for me, and I've really enjoyed playing the non-exclusives like Oblivion, Orange Box and other great games.
The biggest problem for me, and this is going to seem crazy, but all the games we've seen so far have been new IPs. Besides DM...

I think its a pretty good list, especially considering that the only one I've actually played is Ico. Motor City Online was the only surprise to me, compared to other unplayed good games lists. I'm surprised by the lack of Valkyrie Profile and Zack and Wiki, but still a solid list.

I don't think its a matter of forgetting what tens of millions of people died for in war and in genocide. I haven't played it because the reviews are so poor, but from wikipedia and other sources, I've learned that in this alternate reality... all those millions died for nothing and Germany won, implying the extermination of the Jews(along with homosexuals and jehova witnesses, I'd assume). All the people who died would have died in vain. A game is supposed to be entertainment, enjoyment, and...

Apparently Ninja Gaiden, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank aren't big enough exclusives for him. Them, along with the non-exclusives will keep my ps3 busy for a while, but he's right in that they are a bit less popular than the line-up of the other two consoles. Everybody knows... the big ps3 games are coming in 2008.

Indiana jones, lego indiana jones, lego batman, madden, wrestling, ghostbusters? Rainbox six, splinter cell, soul calibur and tiberium might barely make the list, and they put games like those in huh? Resident Evil isn't even coming this year!

Starcraft, LBP, Tekken 6, Ninja Gaiden, Last Remnant, Too Human, Street Fighter 4, Devil May Cry, Call of Duty 5 and tons of others really should've made the list. Plus, if you're going to add handheld games, leaving out Crisis Core is ju...

I can think of eight rpgs for the ps3 off the top of my head, FF:LR, Mist of Chaos, Valkyrie Chronicles, the chopin game, white knight chronicles, fallout 3, disgaea 3. That's quite a few more than two.

FPS are becoming a big part of the industry, sure, but killzone, Gears, Resistance 2, COD5 will very likely be buried under huge games from various other genres such as Little Big Planet, Super Smash Brothers, Too Human, MGS, Grand Turismo, Mario Kart, Banjo Kazoie, Grand Theft ...

Wow. Longest post I've seen on N4G. But hey, the ps3 lover in me loved it. I'd reccomend cutting it down because its just too much to wade through.
Its absolutely true though, the only real big ps2 franchises we've seen revived so far are Ratchet, DMC, Armored Core and Dynasty Warriors, tekken as a psp port and the later three weren't that big at all. More will pick up a ps3 when the big hitters start coming in waves.
