I also favor effects, increased on screen assets and detail over higher frames per second. I've played console games for so long that 60fps, as buttery smooth as it may be, is not a requirement nor is it high on my list as it would pertain to overall presentation. If a trade off must be made I would prefer a sacrifice in frames rendered per second if it meant that every frame rendered was done so at the highest possible native resolution and was a graphical and visual feast.

Not for me. I can see the paintball and laser tag crowd going for something like this once it becomes competitive.

Great selection. I am getting closer than ever to buying an X1. If MSFT continues to offer compelling software with their gold service that may be the push I need to get me over the hump.

Looks really good. I really hope it has a compelling narrative. I also hope they allow you to change the reticule because what they have now is crappy.

A lot of outcry is coming from fund managers and investors like Loeb who are targeting short term performance, in a restructure, to validate their investment.  Right now investing in Sony is like investing in an apple that has rotted halfway.  The sensible short and long term thing to do is to cut off the dead and dying parts and enjoy the rest.  The sad thing is that divestiture in many cases may incur penalties like inventory and equipment write offs that generate a very larg...

This was not a surprise. I think anyone with a shred of sense saw this coming.

Ha. I said this would happen. I've been saying this would happen before the X1's release. I thought they would have done this around Christmas time but Sony's success has expedited the whole thing. I am now more interested than ever. Couple this with the rumor that MSFT may be pulling all non multi-player services from behind the pay wall and I am on board. All they need to do to get my money this year is announce an early 2015 Halo release and a bunch of compelling new IPs ...

If true...awesome!

It wouldn't have made sense any other way. Sometimes you have to wonder how companies really view their consumers. To even suggest that you would lose all access to a product you paid for simply because of a lapse in a supscription that doesn't directly affect all aspects of the game comes across as a bit disrespectful.

I am not upset and frankly I couldn't care any less. I live in the real world where video games are nothing more than interactive entertainment. I don't need every single game to cater explicitly to my lifestyle, desires, tastes, sexual preferences or ideologies.

For all of the people pissed off by the exclusion of same sex relationships in this game go buy a game where it is an option. That simple. By the same argument I should be pissed that I am not being giv...

Halo is one of my favorite shooters and franchises of all time. I enjoyed the live action Forward Unto Dawn web series and I can only see greatness with an adult friendly Showtime adaptation. HBO has Game Of Thrones and now Showtime/XBL will have Halo.

Just got Red Dead and Spec Ops. I don't know how long these flash sales have been going on but I am elated. Picked up 10 games a couple of weeks ago when they had the $1 flash sale. Keep 'em coming Sony.

Well, I am impressed. I don't like racers but the prospect of playing this game with VR has me interested.

I would own one as well if not for the asking price. Sony makes a premium product but at a premium cost to consumers. I would never disparage the quality of anything Sony makes but they have an uphill battle against Samsung, Apple, HTC and others who make great competitively priced products.

I am no financial expert or economist but Sony's biggest problem is its diversity. They have their fingers in way too many pies. Being a multinational conglomerate can be a bad thing when many of your divisions are seeing accelerated levels of contraction rather than growth due to market trends or competitive pressure.
1. Bluray movie players (not drives) are falling to the wayside.
2. Sony is steadily losing market share to Samsung and other non Japanese television ...

Buy a USB extension cable from Amazon for a fraction of the cost. I've hade 2 10' or 12' cables since the PS360 era. No need to waste money on official/licensed accessories when generic products exist.

Not quite $475 is it. That recommended section seems pretty integral to me. Windows is pretty much a necessity to play most commercial games. Accessories such as mouse and keyboard aren't free or included as far as I've seen. The value associated with consoles can't be rivaled so soon in the generation. In about another 2 to 4 years that won't be the case but for right now that $475 PC isn't quite the console killer. That GTX 750 and the other components will become ...

This is the only game currently holding my interest for 2014. Yeah it's a bit risky but the premise (not the mechanics) is mostly original. I hope it does well.

I agree with the article. For most, the specs mean nothing. Laymen will make a decision based on things such as exclusives and online community. Most will go where their friends are. For every person that writes a comment disparaging a particular platform there are tens, hundreds or thousands who have no knowledge of this "war" and couldn't care any less about frame rates or resolutions.

I know this will fall on deaf ears but play the games you like guys. ...
