@blaqmagiq
Your comment wins and it makes the most sense. What is good, better or best is purely subjective. Fanboys are wasting their breath trying to assert their opinions as fact. All in a futile effort to justify their online existence.
The truth (as of right now) is that both consoles have a pretty lackluster 'day one' launch offering with the bulk of the interesting stuff coming 'launch window' and beyond. I would say that Sony may have the s...
@mxrider
Yes, we should wait til launch day or whenever MSFT chooses. That is why I am not a proponent of preorders or launch purchases. When have we ever been privy to official info outside of a sanctioned press releases? Until then it is all conjecture and shoddy journalism searching for hits. Do not take my comments as some blind support for X1 because I will be purchasing both systems...just not at launch. My purchase will be a lot better informed than someone who de...
What I don't understand is how this particular topic became news. It looks desperate to me. Of course MSFT will not comment on rumor or speculation regarding their yet to be released hardware. I will make no assumptions based on a website's unanswered inquiries. Wait for all of the FACTS.
Funny. To be a groper or a cockroach? Decisions, decisions. Well I like groping and I also like being a cockroach so in Japan I would be a groping cockroach...a freak of nature like Godzilla. OH NO HERE HE COMES! ROACHIKAN!! It is funny to see that the fanboyism doesn't stop in the west.
Probably the smartest and most enlightened piece of gaming journalism I've read in a long time. There is absolutely no difference between Sony and Microsoft. Also, neither company has our best interests in mind. They cannot. They are absolutely beholden to shareholders and motivated by profits. Nothing else. There is a conflict of interest that places share appreciation well above consumer benefit. It has been fortuitous that our interests aren't in opposition with profit motiv...
Cool story. That is a long history and a long journey that brings us to today. I didn't know Cerny was the one to give Naughty Dog and Insomniac their breaks on PS1. It is also funny how 1 - 2 million dollars was enough to produce AAA games back then.
I don't mean to come off preachy but I am tired of seeing this every single generation.
Forgive the lack of an S. Also forgive my use of the word debate because there is none to be found here. It is silly and childish back and forth. Debate involves logical, well structured responses. All I see is "mine is better than yours" when in reality they are exactly the same.
Gaming itself is maturing but we are not. It bothers me when external opposition such as media and politics assail my pastime and the collective representation of gamers are mired in a ...
Man this is the Genesis and NES all over again. Wait...this is Genesis and NES for the 8th fucking time. I mean gimme a break. I have been playing games for way over 20 years now and it is the same fools from the 90s and their petty fanboy allegiances that dominate these forums. Is it too much to ask that you guys cut it out? You debate which games look best on which systems when 1) any such discourse is an effort in futility since it is all subjective and based on relative perception an...
Very well written. Cliffy B is definitely out of touch and appears to hate the hand that feeds him. A smart man would side with consumers or keep his views to himself. His views have been proven to be antigamer and pro establishment. He is a selfish, conceited idiot who would have us sacrifice our rights so he and his more affluent friends can make more money.
That idiot does not care if our rights are being infringed upon. All of his comments speak solely to the concerns of his fellow publishing and development community...and rightfully so. I have watched this guy admonish us gamers for exercising our rights to purchase and sell as we please. He has been outright antagonistic and belittling to gamers as a whole. Shitty B would rather a system where we are absolutely beholden to publishers' whims and pricing strategies. In his model there...
I really don't care for all of the extraneous features either console has. Games come first. And for what it's worth family share was a glorified demo. I am happy that they reversed their policies but I will still wait some time after launch to pick up an X1. The PS4 will be my first purchase but again, I am happy MSFT made it easier and more appealing for me to play Halo and Titanfall down the line.
Oh snap! Now we got a race boys and girls!
They just don't get it. No one cares how few bits or bytes it takes for X1 to phone home. The issue is that it does it at all. People with and without Internet access are taken aback by this elitist, arrogant and assuming stance. Why should we have to tether our phones to make this thing work if the Internet is not available? We should be moving towards a future where gaming is more accessible and even more inclusive. People of all economic, cultural, geograpical and infrastructural...
Well said. I am amazed how many X1 zealots cannot see this. These anti consumer measures do not benefit us at all. All of the apologists and sympathizers need to stop wearing sunglasses at night and realize that what is coming is dark, oppressive, obtrusive, draconian, destructive, regressive... Open your eyes.
You should not want any part of this. Ditto for PS4 if it follows the same path. Let these idiots know this is unacceptable by not buying their products.
Well written piece. Sony would be remiss to not take this opportunity to move in the opposite direction. We need a system that plays games first and foremost and guarantees our rights and freedoms as consumers and gamers. The question is, is the core/hardcore demographic large enough and viable enough to support a pro consumer/gamer ambition from Sony? To put it another way, can Sony count on 'us' to support a machine that ignores these draconian measures imposed by the publishers...
The article itself was actually a good read. I wouldn't go as far to say that MSFT has lost any battles but their reveal does show a skewed focus towards television entertainment. I am not an alarmist so I do not believe MSFT has abandoned core games or gamers but it does appear that our interests have become a smaller portion of the pie.
Historically Japanese culture has been very insular and closed to external influences. This is both good and bad. The Japanese have been able to maintain a very unique and progressive culture that is not just another iteration of western ideals. Issues arise, in business at least, when companies such as Sony ignore international trends and demands. Japan's nationalism is commendable but it can be detrimental if companies do not cater to their international customers. I believe Sony w...
@dcbronco
I agree with you in part but not in whole. I was never a proponent of Gamestop's practices to repurchase newly released games at a 12th or a 3rd of their full retail price to then resell at 90% of that full retail price. The margin was too great to me and it appeared to be absolutely anti-consumer. On the other hand if people are willing to do this in full knowledge then that is their choice. Even more important to the whole issue is the consumer's right...
Lol. No...there is no reason to buy a WiiU. Maybe 5 years ago but not now.
