I look forward to seeing the Digital Foundry analysis of this one...
Article has been updated to correct the mistake - it's similar size - the above is comparing 2 games vs 1 game.
Article has been updated - it was a mistake and the gap is less than 10GB.
50GB included RE:Verse, so you're comparing two games to one game.
PS5 has ~30% less storage than XSX, but the file sizes are ~30% smaller than XSX on average... so weirdly it all balances out in the end.
Article has been updated since this was posted:
"Editor’s Note: A previous version of this article stated that there is a 23 GB difference in size between the Xbox and PlayStation versions. This took into account Resident Evil Re:Verse on Xbox and not PlayStation. The article has been updated with the actual size difference."
It's now 35GB XSX and 27.3GB on PS5.
This will be a sweet next-gen update for the 4 people still playing Marvel's Avengers.
That's cute but I bet you PS Now won't have TEW3 :P
That's kinda unrelated though, they should have backups for many reasons, not just fires. What if there was no fire but the storage disks died due to wear and tear?
Most services/websites/apps/games have offsite backup mechanisms these days, its fairly easy with the cloud too - I bet N4G has a backup too.
It's a key part of business continuity plans.
It strikes me as crazy that a big game like this wouldn't have some form of off-site backup.
TEW was good, and TEW2 is great. Hope more people get to try these games out and I really, really hope MS gives us a sequel based on gamepass driving up its numbers.
It's likely an electronics review board for a country - they do measure them and typically the pictures look like this.
A truly fun job I'm sure :P
They used to! For example, original Xbox devkits were just Mac desktops and original PS3 devkits were huge black server racks.
Typically they've always been PC-style boxes or matched the retail box (but with minor changes) but last gen they started spending time/money designing devkits for some bizarre reason...
Totally agree on the VR stuff - really excited for ND to be trying their hand at yet another new IP. They have a good track record.
We should start calling it “good cyberpunk” :p
A new TLOU chapter would be awesome (makes sense to launch it alongside Factions too) and I would love the opportunity to play GA since I never had a vita - only UC I haven’t finished.
Resistance is meh though.
Also, more PS games coming to PC isn’t a huge surprise given recent actions.
I’m swaying towards these rumors being accurate.
Super excited for this after the alpha - glad to hear that MTX are cosmetic only. I hope they stick to their word.
Dang you got me - I’m an Xbox fanboy who games on PS5... and switch... and Xbox... and PC.
Oh wait - that isn’t a fanboy :)
This is cool to see, but how convenient will it really be to use a browser on console... probably pretty flaky to set up and use for this.
Well I’m glad you admit you’re biased - but I am not :)
I choose to enjoy gaming for what it is, and everything it has to offer rather than artificially limit myself by being loyal to one brand.
I don’t know if this will be confirmed or not as it’s not an official feature - more a side effect of being Chromium based.
There are videos on Twitter and Reddit though of people streaming various things - I saw someone on Gaming Reddit streaming Death Stranding via Steam + Edge. So it works at least.
The “first to cave” logic doesn’t really hold up when they’ve just done what you said they wouldn’t - they just spent 7.5bn on Zenimax.
Sony would have to back out before it even got close to such a number.
