@Razzer Multiple game developers have given interviews on this to outlets like Eurogamer etc.
@Bruh I agree, but Activision prioritizing dollars over gamers is nothing new. They’d probably want to do it and make it a $20 upgrade :p
Looks great - huge improvement from what we saw at the unveil last year... I hope the delay was worth it and the game lives up to the hype.
I guess some people don't think this is awesome and would rather pay for the game.
I was going to get this on PC but... if it's free with PS+ then no need - awesome!
This is a huge blow if true. They created so many good, new, fresh IPs/games over the years and even contributed to recent ones like DS.
@darthv72 I actually don't have a 2nd player, no. I play mostly single player experiences and I don't do couch coop (not that there are that many games for couch coop anymore). So why should I have to buy a 2nd controller just in-case my 3 month old one dies? Why should I pay for something I don't need?
I somewhat doubt that you have 11 PS4's and 18 Xbox One's lol. That's over $10000 of consoles in one generation.
@VariantAEC Not e...
They already went over this, it's tied to how PS5 does backwards compatibility.
Xbox allows developers to keep using the Xbox One SDK (XDK) and access the new horsepower / increase the framerate etc. To do the same changes on PS5 they have to write code / recompile to use the PS5 SDK - a lot more work that most developers won't be willing to do.
@jairusmonillas is just a fanboy who likes to troll. Don't feed the troll.
The logical answer here would be, all next-gen consoles suck for storage. One has proprietary expensive drives, and the other one has no expandable storage right now and no cold storage options.
I would be interested to know how many gigs of it is paid addon content like skins...
At this rate, it will soon struggle to fit on the next-gen consoles too.
So all that drama was over nothing...
Runs the game at 4K 60 😂
This didn’t age well - 4K60 is definitely next gen.
"A resolution bump wouldn't increase memory or cpu cycle use iself the UI isn't any different aside from 4k. Lol"
4K assets require more memory, and also require more CPU to render on the graphics driver side. You don't just tweak the width & height values and it's 4K for free. Lol
@theindiearmy That does sound annoying - is that on Series X? I don’t have one yet but my X1X doesn’t do that when going between a 4K game and the dash.
Wonder if it’s a Series X bug.
@Destiny1080: the usable memory is actually way lower than that, for both consoles. And from what I’ve seen, both UI’s are snappy and responsive on next gen - likely due to the increased CPU horsepower and SSD’s.
@StoneyYoshi: It doesn’t use GPU horsepower when not rendering but it still uses memory and some CPU cycles - hence why the entire system resources are not available to game developers like on older consoles that didn’t have in-game usable OS’es.
720p to 1080p isn't as big of a hit/leap. I'd be fine with it rendering at 4K when no game is running, but when a game is running, the resources should be made available to the game instead - that is more important.
I don't care how sharp the OS looks. I bought my console to play games, not to stare at the operating system.
@Angyobangyo Because new generations are about new games, new experiences and new types of gameplay - not about performance. MGS4 is one of my favorite games and it barely hits 30fps nevermind 60fps - but it doesn't detract from it being a great game that is fun to play.
If I have a 1080p TV, or I only game occasionally / this is a secondary device, or I game on a monitor or the console is for my kid who plays Fortnite and Minecraft - why should I fork out $499 for a 4K...
Why does 4K on the console UI matter? Isn't that a waste of resources that the game could be utilizing?
@Razzer Correct, I'm referring to the fact they (semi, not fully native) enhanced it for Xbox Series and not for PS5. The reasoning was that XS was 'cheaper' (in terms of dev cost) to do.
