It's not really a surprise as the 360 ports are already very poorly done. I can't imagine how bad a port for a more complex platform like the PS3 would be.
I would never buy a Valve title on any console, but I can understand why PS3 only owners are disappointed. If I end up buying Portal 2, I'll be running it at 1920x1200 with 16xAA.
Both sites are owned by Gawker.
Anyone who follows the retro scene knows this game does not go up for auction often.
World at War sold over 11 million copies worldwide, as most customers are too uneducated to notice or care who actually developed the game. Sure, they'll eventually catch on as the games continue to decline in quality, but it won't happen overnight.
Unfortunately the people that post about and follow games online represent a very small minority compared to the uneducated video game buying masses.
While I agree with that sentiment, the last Activision published game I purchased was Doom 3 back in 2004. Best wishes to Infinity Ward staff being screwed by the worst publisher in the industry.
I figured removing the CR2032 would fix this as it'll reset the date to sometime in December 2005. I had my battery out recently when fixing the YLOD.
I really don't understand why Destructoid feels the need to constantly attack PS3 fanboys in particular. It seems like they're always trying to make fans of that specific platform look foolish.
I personally didn't like Heavy Rain very much, but I don't feel the need to go and tell everyone how I think some other game is better than it. Even if they were serious about giving Deadly Premonition a higher score, going out of their way to anger fanboys is immature and a waste of time....
I was hoping it would remain a PC exclusive, but just because it's going to be multi-platform doesn't mean the game can't be any good. As much as I hate to say it, it seems the era of big budget PC exclusives has passed.
I really hope Alan Wake is great, as I've been waiting years for it to finally release. Sure, as a PC gamer I'm a little disappointed that it is no longer coming to the PC, but I've owned a 360 for 3 years now so it's not like I have to completely miss out on this title.
Uhhh, sure there are fanboys on the PC. Intel vs. AMD, Nvidia vs. ATI, DirectX vs OpenGL.
I just fixed my YLOD PS3 today. I also was pleased with the hardware layout, but there definitely was a lot of screws involved. At one point near completion, it seemed like I had too many screws left over and I was starting to freak out.
It all turned out fine though, and now the system is working great. I'll probably end up buying a PS3 Slim as a backup unit, but hopefully it won't be needed for awhile.
They were talking about using high-frequency detail mapping on character models. The uniforms the Koreans wear in Crysis are done using this type of effect.
I'm glad that I was able to fix my PS3 this morning. I'd hate to miss out on God of War 3.
That's priceless; Nintendo could learn a hell of a lot from Microsoft?
Sony could learn a thing or two from SEGA or Atari on how to market a console!
It would be nice if you could play music via the XMB for personal use while in Home. If they implement this through the purchase of an item however, I would be quite displeased.
I hope this is more like Battlefield 2 than Bad Company.
Of course the 360 is not a dumbed-down PC as it runs an IBM PowerPC based CPU. Both Windows PCs and Mac use CISC based x86 CPUs made by Intel and AMD, where as the 360 and PS3 both use RISC based CPUs manufactured by IBM.
If you adjusted for inflation Shenmue would probably still have the most expensive budget of all time.
Finally someone who gets it. PC + PS3 + 360 + Wii = all bases covered.
If the Dreamcast controller was the worst you ever used, you must not have used many controllers.
I'd say the worst I ever used was probably the Atari 5200 or the Intellivision controller. The original Jaguar controller was awful, but the later released Pro controller was actually quite an improvement. I can't really say what the best controller is, as all of the current generation controllers are pretty great.
The 360 had a decent shot at winning the console war (with Wii included), but hardware reliability issues crippled it. Sony really botched the PS3 launch, but the RROD fiasco gave Sony a second chance, and they've really turned things around.
While I don't think the 360 would have necessarily beaten the Wii were it not for RROD, I imagine the margin would be a lot closer than it currently is. Regardless of what console ends up selling more units(between the PS3 and 360), I expect...
