The on-die GPU performance is actually pretty remarkable. Obviously you'll still be better off with a dedicated ATI or Nvidia GPU if you care about graphics quality and performance, but for your casual consumer that typically buys their PCs at Best Buy, this is still a huge upgrade.
It's a lot more likely that their consoles were going to RROD anyway and it just so happened that they were using Kinect at the time of the hardware failure. People have tried to blame games on the PS3 and 360 in the past for hardware failures, but the truth is that a system on the verge of failure will die eventually regardless of what software it is running.
Yeah, I think that's what they meant as well. RAM limitations are more of an issue that disc space. I think Uncharted 2 still only used a single layer Blu-ray anyway.
Is this a joke? Activision is only evil by video game publisher standards. As the article points out, there are much worse companies out there. One they seemed to have missed is Dow Chemical/Union Carbide, you know, the guys responsible for the worst industrial disaster in history?

Same and it was totally worth it. I feel bad for those that missed the sale as it's now back to $49.99.
Sony has a lot less control over the price of movies though, but you're definitely right about the price of games and DLC. If Valve can put full games on Steam for a few dollars why can't Sony?
Uncharted 2 came out October 13th, 2009.
Crysis beats Killzone 2 in lighting by a huge margin, and it has considerably more physics interactions than Killzone 2.
God of War 3 looks great but the environments are almost completely static.
This article is actually about the Uncharted movie, but you would know that if you had actually clicked the link.
On topic: any fans of the games should be against a movie being made because it will be created by people that do not understand and appreciate the franchise. This movie is almost guaranteed to hurt the franchise more than it helps, much like Max Payne and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
Horrible screen shots, but the differences between the two should be pretty subtle and minor for the most part. Let's be real, Uncharted 2 is probably to this day still the best looking game on the PS3. Surpassing Uncharted 2 in any meaningful way will be very difficult because it set the bar so high.

Yeah, most of the people I knew that were in the group waited until L4D2 was less than $7 during the summer Steam sale.
The dumb thing is that the people that are currently bitching about Black Ops will buy Modern Warfare 3 at launch, instead of a game like Uncharted 3 that will actually be bug-free and designed for the PS3.
Why all the disagrees? The cutscenes are pre-rendered in-engine to cover up loading in the background. Fanboys are definitely in denial, but I'm not exactly sure why. Uncharted 2 is still currently the best looking game on consoles, and Uncharted 3 will probably be the first to truly surpass it.
Yeah, it technically does but it is not nearly as programmable as the tessellation units in DirectX 11 ATI GPUs. Nvidia GPUs are an entirely different beast because they do not have dedicated units, and instead every stream processor can be used to handle tessellation.
Anyone that has run the Unigine Heaven Benchmark on the PC knows how poorly it runs on anything but the very best GPUs.
Uncharted 2 is probably the best for facial animations, but for a 6 year old game Half-Life 2's are damn impressive.
Did you play it on the PC? This video could be one of the console versions, so it won't be able to look quite as good as the PC version of Dirt 2 with DirectX 11.
Regardless the video still looks great. I just hope the PC version doesn't use Games For Windows Live again, as it's currently preventing me from saving my progress in Dirt 2.
a little bit, but it's not a surprise that splitscreen is now feasible as they had to make the game run in 3D for single player mode.
AMD's Fusion chips are low end ATI GPUs integrated with the CPU for the purpose of reducing manufacturing costs. A dedicated 5770 with an Athlon II X4 would be a lot more expensive than manufacturing a single chip with an integrated GPU.
Too bad your 240Hz TV cannot receive a 240Hz signal. Why don't you check out a 600Hz Plasma if you really want to have your mind blown.
Technically DisplayPort > all of those because it supports audio and video through a single cable while also supporting resolutions as high as 3840 × 2160 @ 60Hz or 2560x1600 @ 120Hz. It also has the ability to connect up to four 1920x1080 displays using a single port.
