The 3DS GPU is only capable of rendering between 10-15 million polygons per second. The 360 GPU is estimated at around 500 million per second.

Also, the PSP2 will be considerably less powerful than the PS3 or 360 because ARM is a line of extremely simple RISC processors. At best it will be running at 1GHz, where as the 360's Tri-core processor runs at 3.2GHz, and is much faster per clock cycle than ARM Cortex A9.

Still, the PSP2 should have nothing to be ...

It should be considerably cheaper than the PS3 (at least for the CPU and GPU) because it will be using a system on a chip. I imagine though the 5" 960x544 OLED screen will be the most expensive component, at least for awhile.

Alan Wake actually ran at 960x544, the same resolution as the PSP2 screen. It did use 4xAA though, which was not present in any of the games showed for the PSP2.

"We tried to contact Xbox Live" lol

But seriously, Microsoft doesn't just go around deleting people's achievements without evidence that there was cheating involved. It's unfortunate that her son has autism and this will effect his ability to enjoy his console online, but he shouldn't have violated Xbox Live's EULA in the first place.

It is extremely unlikely that the PSP2 will be more powerful than the PS3, but it is very possible for it to have as much or more RAM.

I agree, but that means you'll be stuck with AT&T or T-Mobile for the PSP2, which will be a major turn off considering Verizon is the largest cellular provider in the U.S.

Whose 3G network will they use though? Sony certainly doesn't have cell towers across the country. They will be forced to use AT&T/T-Mobile's HSPA, or Verizon/Sprint's EVDO networks.

what kind of 3G support? HSPA or EVDO? Unless it's both you're going to be stuck with a single cell carrier like Verizon or AT&T. The term 3G is extremely vague.

Even a mid-range GPU like the Radeon 5770 is more capable than the RSX and Cell combined when it comes to graphical performance. Not really a surprise though, as it has a higher transistor count than both chips combined.

@ smoothdude

The N64 version of Resident Evil 2 was actually pretty amazing considering they managed to fit two CDs worth of data onto a cartridge. Even with everything they had to do to cut down the size it still ended up being tied for the largest game ever released on the N64 at 64MB.

Yeah, ignore the fact that it's rendering in 3D without the need for glasses. Also, the 3DS' GPU is actually a lot more advanced than the one in the PSP because it has programmable shaders.

Especially if the PS4 and Xbox 720 aren't going to release until after 2013.

@ Dark_Charizard

Actually, the first handheld with switchable cartridges was the Milton Bradley Microvision, released in 1979, 10 years before the original Gameboy.

Still, you're right; the 3DS will most likely outsell the PSP2. Sony can still do a lot better than they did this gen though in regards to profitability as long as piracy doesn't become an issue early into the system's life.

Yeah, but you can hardly compare a laptop that uses a 45W CPU with a 50-70W GPU to a hand held that's entire CPU + GPU combo has a TDP of less than 1W.

The PS3 version probably comes with a cardboard insert that has a redeemable code on it that can only be used once.

I don't think this is Sony's fault as Modern Warfare 1 and 2 were hacked long before the PS3's security was ever broken.

I wouldn't mind having one of these controllers but I don't want to spend $65 on it when I already have multiple working play and charge kits. Hell, these things shouldn't be more than $40.

@ jack_burt0n

No I wouldn't, as I own God of War 3 and while MLAA definitely works great in that title it is still usually closer to 4xMSAA in quality. I'm not saying that isn't good, because it definitely is considering it's on a console that is usually stuck with 2xAA or no AA, much like the 360, but these screen shots were obviously taken at a very high resolution and downsampled to 1280x720.

Unless Uncharted 3 is somehow able to run with 16xSSAA these are definitely bullshots. Obviously the final game will look similar but with 2xAA instead.

I actually liked Siren a lot, and felt like it was a refreshing return to the survival horror games of past generations. I hope they do a sequel to it but because the game was only released on PSN in the U.S. it did not sell very well. It didn't help that all 12 episodes took up 9070MB of hard drive space as well.
