Yeah, I loved Battlefield 2 but the series has gone down hill since Dice started focusing on consoles.
When laptop GPUs are capable of maxing every game out, you know that developers aren't pushing hardware the way they use to.
It supports 1080i but the game gets rendered in 960x1080 when playing it in that setting, so 720p is recommended.
Why? Killzone 3 will be 720p native just as Killzone 2 was.
It's sad to see the level of homophobia on N4G. A character doesn't have to be defined by their sexuality. Just look at Omar Little from the HBO show, The Wire.
It would be fantastic with 4 player support on the PS3 / 360. It's also probably the best looking Source game right now thanks to the engine updates.
It would be nice to have MKV support as well, since it's a pretty popular video format now. Maybe add FLAC support for higher quality music, also. It's kind of funny that we're bitching about individual formats though, when last generation you were lucky if your console could play DVDs.
That's not really fair because you could then point out that a game like Ocarina of Time was later ported to other Nintendo systems. Does it not count as a great Nintendo 64 exclusive then?
Normally I'm not a big fan of the game play stye, but I am able to enjoy God of War because of these concessions that Jaffe mentions. It's like bitching about Call of Duty being too easy in comparison to a game like Arma. Not everyone wants to play the most difficult or complex game in a genre.
A SSD is not really that necessary for games as most titles are designed to stream off a standard hard drive. Sure your games will load faster, but once it's done loading there shouldn't be any real performance improvement. I'd rather spend the extra money on a better video card.
Unless it's for the sake of backwards compatibility with a future Playstation, I'm afraid I have to agree with you.
At $7 on Xbox Live, you could have purchased the entire game last weekend on the PC with the DLC while still saving 25 cents. Did I forget to mention better online, graphics, controls...
From a consumer standpoint, Steamworks has a better set of features, and is supported by more games.
Fine, compared to Steamworks, GFWL is lacking severely.
Microsoft might as well drop GFWL because it's already so far behind Steam and is responsible for the market fragmentation. Steam has been around since late 2003, and at the time Microsoft had absolutely no interest in a digital distribution platform. The PC would be better off without Live.
Cool, but not nearly as impressive as the real thing.
at 400x240...
Because Sony's hard drive encryption package makes it so the hard drive can only be read by the console that last formatted it. If you took out your hard drive and received the exact same console back that you sent in, your hard drive should still work fine.
My 40GB got the YLOD right before God of War 3 but my replacement Slim is quite nice. It puts out considerably less heat, and based on internet reports, the Slim units are a lot more reliable.
It's free on Steam.
