Doom 2 released in 1994 and the graphics weren't exactly dated at the time. Hell, Duke Nukem 3D released in 1996 and it was barely better than Doom 2 on a technical level.
Well the Playstation Vita not only has physical buttons and analog sticks, but also has twice the GPU and CPU power of the iPad 2.
Not sure why PS3 fanboys are still trying to act like any developer that has to deal with real financial constraints in development is all of the sudden anti-PS3.
Comparisons to Naughty Dog and Santa Monica are unfair as those studios only have to make their games on 1 platform. The PS3 still is a more difficult platform to develop for than the 360 due to its split RAM, use of OpenGL ES instead of DirectX, and the asymmetrical Cell processor.
Also not to ment...
Texas Instruments' OMAP 4430 used in the Droid 3 and Droid Bionic is more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon S3 because the S3 is still using ARM Cortex A8, while OMAP4 uses Cortex A9 with NEON support, which is 25% faster per clock cycle. Also the PowerVR SGX540 at 304MHz in OMAP4 beats the Snapdragon S3 by a pretty wide margin in some of the more graphically intensive benchmarks like GLbenchmark2.0's Egypt test.
My guess is that the game they show on the tv is ...
@ Ju
Well, Nvidia has Tegra 3's successor on their 2012 road map, and it is expected to use quad ARM Cortex A15s with a new GPU solution that is 2x as powerful as Tegra 3, and around 10x as powerful as Tegra 2.
Even the PSP Vita's GPU the PowerVR SGX543MP4+ isn't the best we'll see in 2012, as PowerVR has stated that the SGX543, 544, and 554 are designed to be paired with up to 16 GPUs. Some of the higher core configurations of the SGX544 and...
Well there are already quite a few phones out with micro-HDMI ports capable of outputting 1080p(and technically higher because micro-HDMI is part of the HDMI 1.4 standard) like the Motorola Droid X2 and Droid 3.
Once we start getting SoC's like Tegra 3 in 2012 handheld devices like cell phones will begin to have graphical capabilities similar to the PS3 and 360.
This is very old news, and is not recommended even by Sony. Those that own Uncharted 2 will notice that on the back of the box it lists support for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p but 720p is highlighted at the recommended resolution.
Screens using Gorilla Glass do not need screen protectors, and if the 3DS were designed properly it wouldn't either as it is very difficult to scratch a screen in a clam-shell.
I guess if you dropped it when it was open that could happen, but unless you're a small child you shouldn't be dropping your electronics anyway.
Nah, it is using a quad core ARM Cortex A9 paired with a PowerVR SGX 543MP4. It should be comparable to Tegra 3 in power but there is a decent chance that Tegra 3 is a little more powerful.
It's actually pretty sad that Nintendo isn't using Corning Gorilla Glass on both screens. (of course that would require the bottom screen to be a capacitive touch screen, which it should have been in the first place)
By the look of the first screen shot this I would assume Arma 3 as that shadow on top of the APC is pretty rough.
Overall the graphics look good in all of the screenshots but I don't think this will blow away Battlefield 3 (at least on the PC).
@ dkgshiz
which is funny because the Gamecube was profitable from day 1 but the Xbox ended up losing Microsoft $4 billion.
Honestly at $65 you would probably get better audio quality from Sony's MDR-V6 studio head phones.
@ Vaistrat
or $199-299 with a 2 year contract
but yeah as others said even with better hardware smart phones will not be able to match Vita graphics for awhile because developer tools likely won't be as good, budgets won't be nearly as high, and there should be less OS overhead on the Vita.
Yeah, early PS3s had the fan test mode which could be used to eject the disc (I was lucky when my PS3 from 2007 got the YLOD) but not all fat PS3s supported it.
Pretty sure they're still using their engine Dunia like in Far Cry 2 which by the way also looked better on the PC on max settings in DirectX 10.
I'm sure the console versions will still look fine though.
Edit: tried to fix a typo in my post but some reason Android felt like replying instead.

Apple has no serious place in gaming aside from things like Angry Birds until they make a device with buttons.
Wow, have we really gotten to the point where we have to worry about attack when saying we'd like the ability to play a game on a platform we own?
Actually buenoblue a 2x BD-rom is able to read at a maximum of 9MB/s as a 1x on Blu-ray is 36Mbit/s (4.5MB/s).
