Well, it's 4.5x as powerful as Xbox One, so most games that are 1080p will probably be 4K on Scorpio.
Games that are tailored towards 1080p on PS4 will likely also be 1080p on Scorpio with better graphics.
So:
Gears: 4K
Forza: 4K
Halo: Maybe 4K
Recore: 4K
Scalebound: 4K
CoD/Battlefield: 1080p
Star Wars games: 1080p
Final Fantasy: 1080p
etc.
Definitely minimalistic, and total win to me. I think it looks on par or possibly better than PS4 actually. I'm more interested in the Neo though... This would be cool as a second console though, for kids or to bring to people's houses.
Stevonidas, you serious? Casuals, budget minded, people that just want a Blu-ray player and a few games, gamers buying a second console for their kids, or parents in general who say they can get their kids can get the cheaper model but not the Neo- basically people who want to save $100-200 based on how much Neo will be.
With Neo on the horizon and slim launching at $299, I'm betting Neo will be 5.5TFLOPS and $499 to compete with Scorpio. Entry level model and premium...
I'd honestly rather see them go for the 5.5 TFLOPS model($499) they had in development over the 4.14 TFLOPS model($399). If they want a cheaper model, then in addition to PS4-Neo they could do PS4 Slim at $299. That would be fair IMO, $299 and $499 are fair pricepoints for entry and enthusiast models.
Only thing I'm not liking are the new characters, JD seems really generic as well as the black dude. Kate is okay, nothing special.
I think that would be pretty cool, she seems like she could be the eccentric character FF usually has, in the vein of Yuffie, Selphie, Rikku, or Vanille. This seems more natural than some of them too, as she's obviously a little sis. I love toting my sis around when I'm with the boys. It's more brotherly love and more protection.
The gamepad is useless for most games, looking between the TV and the controller is jarring, and most of the time you'll get some kind of gimmicky function out of it.
Mario Kart- useless
SSMB- useless
Mainline Mario- gimmicky function
Zelda- useful but even the creators say looking down at the controller is jarring
And so on... Add the fact that it's $150 and a huge chunk of the $300+ you'll spend on the console an...
4K30 >>> 1080p60
So many games have gamey motion with 60 fps and 60 fps puts strain on my eyes... Not to mention motion is less natural due to lack of motion blur.
I'll take 4K30 over 1080p60 any day. Infact, I'll take 1080p30 over 1080p60. I think they need to start coming out with optional framerates for games.
I don't think even a good trailer could hide the fact that you're playing douchebags and dragons to the tune of dubstep. I mean, the game looks awesome in some regards, but the character and music are obnoxious and deal breakers for many of us.
1080i interlaces two fields of pictures together, so even if it's 60 fps, it's only playing two alternating fields, so it's 60 fields per second, not frames per second. 60 fields is the equivalent to 30 frames per second.
So 1080i basically caps framerate at 30fps. This is why I'd like to see 4Ki as an alternative option to 4Kp. I HATE 60 fps. 4Ki would be the equivalent to 4K30.
You're not stating facts, PSP did remote play before Nintendo. Wii/Wii U was a failure among core gamers. You really are salty.
4K will be the last resolution jump I upgrade to for a while. 8K will be pretty useless.
I just wish they had 4Ki and 4Kp so I could set the signal to 4Ki and cap framerate at 30 fps. I HATE 60 fps.
The amount of salt is with you. Wii was a failure and so was kinect, in fact MS would have been far more popular this gen if it weren't for kinect. It's not a bragging point, bragging about motion gaming is like bragging about being the village idiot. Remote play was with PSP long before Wii U and their own Vita/PS3/PS4 so how could that have been copied?
If they're doing this, they may be going for the 5.5 TFLOPS which would raise graphics as well as add 60 fps. Nice. I just hope they keep 1080i as an output as I hate 60 fps, and 1080i can cap it at 30fps.
The problem is most devs are going to just say fuck it, Neo mode is 60 fps mode, not Neo mode is going to add extra graphics. That's what will happen with a 4.14 TFLOPS console. It only gets about .46 TFLOPS for extra graphics which is nothing, especially at 60 fps.
I don't even like 60 fps half the time. The motion turns out gamey or puts strain on my eyes. There are only a very few games I can stand 60 fps on, but the motion has to be done right. If it were u...
I'll likely just wait on the r490, I want a card with GDDR5X or HBM on it.
Not sure yet but I may be buying both. I'm concerned about PS4-Neo at the rumored 4.14 TFLOPS though... That's only enough power to double the framerate, not improve graphics also. I actually don't care about framerate, so 4.14 TFLOPS would be fine if it was all thrown into graphics to me, however devs likely won't look at it this way, they'll likely just make Neo mode 60 fps mode. That is a downer, I'd much rather have better graphics.
There'...
Well that's one good sign. Finally some architecture that'll make use of UE4... Still hoping it's more powerful than PS4 though.
That's my point. 4k in effect is the equivalent to antialiasing but uses FAR more power. It makes more sense to use AA than to use 4K, especially at this point in time.
I'm still hoping the Neo is $449-499 and they went for the 5.5 TFLOPS model they were considering over the 4.14 TFLOPS model. Then Neo and Scorpio could really compete graphically.
Also hoping for SATA III even over a 1TB or 2TB HDD... I'd rather have the SATA III speeds so I can minimize loading times with my own SSD. Both, if they can afford it, would be fine also.
