Breaking My Limit

I'm actually more interested in seeing 4K when PS5 rolls around. Xbox will surely pull off 4K for a few games, Gears, perhaps Halo, and indie/indie-esque games. But I've seen enough of those games, and it won't look markedly better on Scorpio, especially if they're targeting 4K which will drain all resources.

PS5 will do it better, cheaper, with more games, and HDR 4K should be more affordable by then. So that's what I'm waiting on. My goal is to...

@Zeke

Actually the G6 has 20ms latency. The B6 is at 60ms, and some are hoping with a firmware update may match the G6. If not, the next line may have one. Again though, the G6 is $3000-4000, the B6 is still $2000 though.

As far as brightness goes, OLED is the only TV that can produce perfect black, which makes it's need for brightness slightly lower. Still, 600 nits is very bright though, and I actually keep my current 1080p a bit darker for eye ...

First of all, there's only oleds in 55" and 65", not 60". Secondly, the LG G6 is $3000+ for a 55. It's not dropping to $600-800 anytime, ever. The B6 line uses the same panel without the soundbar and is $2000-2500. It's dropping down to $1850 on ebay, but it's not going to be $600-800 in the next 5 years, probably even longer. Unless you can find one used and are extremely, I mean extremely lucky. The price your asking for will...

It will still play the game in higher resolution with better framerate. It just has no other modifications. Personally, I was hoping for a bit more, but this late in the game I guess you can't. Plus better res/framerate is what this game needs most anyway. The res will negate some of the need for AA, and the framerate because it's sometimes choppy. So I guess it's a half-win?

Also, FFXV was started with PS4-gen. The PS3 code for VersusXIII was not transfer...

It's going to be way more powerful than iPad. It's got a Nvidia Tegra under the hood so it'll put it to shame.

@frosty

Ninty is not Apple. I think after Wii/WiiU, they finally learned that.

I still need to see more to get convinced. It had Skyrim Remastered running on it, but the other games looked like Wii U games at 1080p with some AA. Mario seemed to have some really smooth textures and an interesting environment. If they could just upgrade Mario's character model, it'd look really nice. But then the environment, it looked as if it could be huge!

So there's alot of questions, but I'm reserving my judgement for when some trailers release ...

88 Million? Closer to 8 Million honestly.

Zelda didn't look much better than Wii U IMO. I thought they were going to push the art style to it's limit, and there's way more LoD they could have added. I agree it's not a remaster since it's getting released at the same time, but it's not even on par with most remasters when comparing it to the other version.

Then you've got 2 remasters. I was hoping MK9 would be released with the next jump in graphics as well. I'm not saying Remaste...

@Nu I think we need a better look at it. The textures looked so much smoother IMO. Mario looked the same though- they need to upgrade his character model.

@Armchair analyst...

900p x 2 = 1800p
1080p x 2 = 2160p

They have the exact same ratio. PS4 Pro has better upscaling this time though. This will be interesting.

Still depends on the performance. If they're getting Xbox One level power out of that thing, you can be sure Nintendo games are going to shine on it. And you know how many 2nd and 3rd parties have been waiting for that kind of power out of a Nintendo machine?

Nintendo breeds a very different audience, with a very different art style as well: Pixar graphics for most games? Anime style graphics for most games? Cartoon style graphics? Nintendo far outranks these audi...

Probably not. They choose 1800p explicitly because it uses 77% less power than 2160p. Scorpio is only 30% more powerful. If they choose 4K, you won't be getting better graphics as well.

Hmm, always wanted to play Nintendo games with Pixar-style graphics. Guess I'll have to wait another gen.

I wonder if the side-controllers add to the overall battery life when connected? Also the dock is pretty big, bigger than the console. I wonder if that adds extra graphical power when stationary. Nvidia does have better dual-card support, so this could be a thing. 720p on the handheld, 1080p on the bigscreen maybe?

I'll never let someone use a half-controller. Even if I'm on the go, if I decide to play two-player, I'm packing the pro-controller.

3407d ago 8 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'm only using the sidepads when I'm playing it like a gameboy. I will never let another player have to play with a crummy half-controller. If I decide to play two-player on the go, I'm bringing the pro-controller. Infact, I hardly ever see a situation where I'm detaching the sidepads and playing two-player in the middle of nowhere. I'm leaving them on. Two-player is for the TV, and Single player is for on the go.

If it were $399 with everything you said, I could guarantee those games are playing at 720p and are shopped for quality. If it's $399 without anything, it could run at 1080p which would be fine with me, just barely.

I'd still much rather a traditional console. They could do everything they showed with better graphics for $299 and maybe even throw in a free game. I'd be hooked onto that real quick.

According to that trailer, 3rd parties are fine IMO. It's FIRST parties that didn't have the graphics I was looking for. Zelda looked like the Wii U version, Mario didn't look better than Wii U, same with Mario Kart and Splatoon.

On the otherhand, Skyrim Remastered was running on it. So I have no clue what's going on. Perhaps the Ninty games were 1080p and Skyrim was 720p? (Or it's easier to think Skyrim was not recorded on the console, as it's ...
