It outputs 8K. So basically streaming.

It won't be able to render games at 8K though, so probably just Netflix/Hulu or whatever.

Some arcade games might be able to use it, since they're so simple, but most games are going to be sub 4K actually, any 3D ones especially.

So that's what they mean by saying 8K output but saying 4K gaming.

In short, if you're in the market for a new TV for gaming, 8K is wo...

Adjusted for inflation $499 is not that bad. Also, consider this lowers the need for a mid-gen console, although you can expect one as well with somewhat better Ray-Tracing that hits 4K60 more often.

However, with the base model consider we'll be getting tons of 1800p60 CB games, an SSD, and so on. It's totally worth it and many people won't see the need for a mid-gen boost. $499 is better than paying $399 twice.

But PS5 hasn't been revealed yet. Sony even said they were keeping PS5 out of their State of Play, plus they're probably still optimizing for PS5.

Considering it's a multipart game the second and third parts will most definitely be on PS5, so why not the first? Why would they reduce the lifespan of their game by optimizing it ONLY for a system that will become lastgen next year?

Isn't AMD the first to PC 4.0?

Could this be why it's so cheap and so fast?

PS4 had those extra compute units and the GDDR5 for secret sauce. It was originally speculated for 4GB as well, so they delivered on multiple fronts.

MS's secret sauce was ESRAM which became a pain and the power of the cloud which never came through.

PS5 is looking to have the 3D audio and SSD for a start, and whatever else AMD is working on with them, so the sauce there is most definitely real.

Nope. Because Moore's Law is slowing down it's taking much more money to get any kind of meaningful jump.

$499 is what I'm betting on. That extra $100 will go a long way.

Yeah, but PS3 broke compatibility because they had to keep PS2 chips on board.

PS5 should have BC with PS4 regardless because they don't need additional chips. The PS5 chip is the same architecture as the PS4 chip, so they don't need a separate PS4 chip.

I'm thinking more games will become cross-gen.

Of course, this means the possibility of FFVIIR having Ray-Tracing and some kind of checkerboarded 4K60 and that's insane.

I saw how CryEngine could do 4K60 w/RT on a GPU agnostic to RT. Hopefully Unreal Engine and whatever RT solution PS5/Navi has can catch up. I'm hoping the game gets regular updates as this becomes more optimized.

As for remasters, I'm actually thinking...

I'mGumby

And despite being so much more powerful PC still doesn't have games that match the visual quality of Death Stranding, TLOU2, KH3, and Ghost of Tsushima at this time.

PS5 is going to surpass PC hard this time around. 1st Party Developers are miles ahead of what PC has to offer and if the games aren't optimized then you've essentially got an overpowered but underwhelming machine.

2488d ago 1 agree5 disagreeView comment

PC won't be topped when it comes to raw power, however, PS4 matches and exceeds PC in most circumstances when a 1st Party AAA developer is involved anyway.

Since PS5 will get much closer to PC I'm guessing the games will look much better despite the console being less powerful.

Looks like a knock off Squall Leonhart to me.

Atleast they tried though, I mean, I think he looks a little wonky but then again, who doesn't? Kind of feels like me having a bad hair day.

The voice acting is pretty generic IMO as well. Get them anime VAs on this shit. Bryce Papenrook, Austin Tindle, Micah Solusod, etc. People say they hate them but I think they're miles ahead of "I can talk in a low voice the entire time acting", lik...

Are you serious? Do you even have the slightest idea of how game development works?

Everything they have outsourced much match the main team's quality so yes, they must all know the tone, and yes, NOMURA made a point of this many times from getting the art style named ("Deformed Realism" for FFVIIR and "Kingdom Shader" for KH3) and saying that every scene has to be reimagined to match the original game's vision but shown in the best possible way...

2499d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

They're entirely correct.

The tone for everything from art direction, to comedy, to events, whatever meta themes they have- rebuilding the game on every level requires them to know the tone of literally everything.

Nah, you're out of touch with reality. Most people want an ARPG system, just because you have an echo chamber in a few threads and like the edge of being negative all the time doesn't mean the vast majority don't disagree with you.

Yeah, but at least Square is using Unreal Engine for their games now. KH3 looks amazing and if FF16 is on PS5 we'll be in for a serious treat.

The FF14 team might be the one for FF16.

It's not hypothetical. Nomura has already said Disney had more oversight in KH3 and it was harder to get newer properties into the mix. Older ones were easy to get however Pixar actually had to look into KH1/KH2 to even figure out what the game was about and Nomura said himself that the worlds took way longer to acquire. He brought this up when people asked if this would affect the story and he claimed he already had the story set, he would just add the worlds as they came.

2510d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Disney would just not make KH3 possible. Simple as that. If they pull the worlds then all you have is World of FF, not Kingdom Hearts.

2512d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Disney could just pull the rights to all the worlds. Nomura said himself it was much more difficult for him to get the rights to newer properties.

2512d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Isn't it obvious? Disney had more oversight over KH3 and FF is too hardcore for Disney.

2513d ago 4 agree4 disagreeView comment

Tetsuya Nomura recognized just how important art direction was with KH and FFVIIR. He even named the styles: "Kingdom Shader" for KH3 and "Deformed Realism" for FFVIIR. Kingdom Shader nailed the Pixar style and will only get closer to the newest movies when KH4 comes out on PS5.

And they definitely show art direction paired with graphics is an even bigger beast. Considering how close we are to PS5, I think FFVIIR will be on both PS4/5 and it's goi...
