All the UHD media supporters... such a miniscule omission with how much it costs. For $499 there are better upgrades: 4.5-5 TFLOPS, SATA III, 12 GB Ram, etc. If it came out at $499 and chose UHD media over those upgrades, IMO it'd be a total ripoff.
Do you hear what you're saying? A r480 is $199, considering its part of an Apu which is around $70-100, that means you're getting $100 more graphics. Not to mention the other upgrades(better cooling for CPU oc, 4k HDMI, extra USB, 1TB HDD) and you're probably getting more value with PS4-Pro than the og model.
@toyzombie
I'm thinking more like ~10 TFLOPS in 2019
Biggest omission I see is lack of SATA III... I mean, alot of us will want to upgrade with SSD and get max speeds, and SATA III probably doesn't cost but a few bucks more than SATA II.
I'm wondering if they atleast used a 7200RPM HDD on PS4-Pro. That would be near max speeds and atleast I wouldn't have to upgrade the HDD, I guess.
TBH, I don't think a 4K BluRay player is that big of a deal. There are definitely diminishing returns on playable media, and also on distance viewing. Most 4K media will look exactly the same as 1080p. Now, 4K gaming, because it's the equivalent to AA, and can get more detail, will be great. But Xbox Scorpio's 4K games won't have enough power to make a good difference. At this time 1080p60 is miles better. Perhaps with the next-gen. Just my take.

To get an HDR TV, it would also have to be 4K, but not every 4K tv is HDR. If you want HDR, you should make sure the TV you decide on buying has both specs.
HDR- 'High Dynamic Range'. This is the first new color spec for TVs in over a decade, maybe two. This means brighter colors, darker blacks, and more gradients between colors.
4K- Is 2160p. That is 4x 1080p. That means the picture is 4 times crisper than 1080p. 1080p is already plenty cri...
Their 'A' game is PS4 Neo having SATA III so I can upgrade with an SSD and lower loading times with FFVIIR.
Most definitely. And in a bad way... New Nintendo fans are going to be people with semi-mobile semi-consoles and most people will only play NX if a friend brings one over. The only positive thing about NX is the portability. The graphics and likely gameplay will suffer because of their refusal to get with the times. I'll admit, a mobile console is a fine idea, and one Nintendo should follow, but not for another 5-10 years.
Disturbed isn't going to save GeoW from it's insanely bad VA and lack of horror element. GeoW and Scalebound are really suffering from VA/character design. Sad 'cause both of those games have so much wasted potential... looks like I'm gaming PS4/PC only this gen.
Kinda sad that it's having 30fps troubles along with little AA. Really hoping it gets an update with Neo/Scorpio, give me 4x MSAA and unlocked framerate and I'll be fine.
I think it can be done at $450 at 5.5 TFLOPS. I mean, the 480x is $250 and is 6 TFLOPS, no cpu. Consider the apu in PS4 costs $100. It adds up perfectly. $100+$150=$250. Even better is they don't necessarily need a 480, perhaps a 460/470(-$50), it's built into an APU, 14nm won't call for a drastically better ventilation system, and are getting some kind of discount. It's totally possible at $450 and still making some profit. Now I'm not sure how much the new hardware...
As long as it's 5.5 TFLOPS with 12 GB and SATA III count me in. Cost is no object, if it costs $450 to do it, do it. It is a premium model after all. We have PS4-Slim for those on a budget.
Sony is great at value, but I'm afraid at $399 we'll get cut features(4.14 TFLOPS) and it won't compete with Scorpio. If they can do EVERY feature, and I mean EVERY feature I've listed at $399, more power to them, and I'll be glad to buy it. But if to get every feature it costs $419-449, I'll pay it. Totally worth it. It is a premium model after all.
Hopes with Neo:
5.5 TFLOPS
SATA III so you can upgrade with SSD and shorten load times
12GB GDDR5
5 GHz WiFi
HDR
4K Media
$449-499 is fine for PS4-Neo, we've already got PS4-Slim for those on a budget at $299. If they can do all this at $399 though, more power to them. I still want each feature though so am willing to pay the price.
With how bad the aliasing can be with FFXV I think resolution does matter. I'm hoping it gets an upgrade with Neo/Scorpio. 60fps + some good AA would go a long way with this title.
It doesn't necessarily need to be much bigger, AMD just downsized from 28nm to 14nm which is much smaller and produces less heat. I will say that I hope ventilation is better and it's quieter than the current model though.
Another plus I want to see is SATA III. I don't even care about a larger HDD, get me the ability to use a faster/larger one of my own and cut loading times.
Nvidia has no need to counter this. The 490x and/or Fury will go against the 1070 and 1080. AMD's value will force Nvidia to lower their prices though. The 1080 ti is a given, but that'll be so expensive I won't consider it a 'counter'.
I really wanted my new build to be full AMD, but I needed an efficient PC this year for college, so have gone with Skylake i5 and a GTX 1070 I'm buying tomorrow. AMD has finally got their act together though, so my next PC will be full AMD. I won't do that upgrade until 4K is affordable though, 4-6 years from now. If you're building in 2017 though, I'd recommend giving AMD a shot with Zen/Vega coming out. Should be great power for cheap. Zen + r490x should be really damn ...
What annoys me is he somehow implies that MS is taking a different route with Scorpio... You understand MS is the reason Scorpio AND Neo even exist, right? Because X1 was overpriced and underpowered, they needed a new console. Sony simply has to respond, else get left in the dust. So you've really got your fanboy goggles on.
This is coming from someone buying both consoles. MS started this mess with required sign in, day one update, overpriced($499) console with a ...
That wouldn't really make any sense. Since it's not native 4k, you're not getting any extra detail from it being 4K. If it's 1080p native source is improved, scaled to 4k, and then downsampled again to 1080p, and you can't see an improvement, I'd say there's little improvement. These shots are worthless either way, not true comparison shots.
