@TylerDurden
Exactly, Platinum can't do narrative for jack. One of their directors suggested a Kill la Kill game a while back, and since based on an anime with a pretty easy to follow story would work awesome. Sadly their heads have not given the green light though. Too busy working on that failure Scalebound. *Sigh*
They really need to realize their weakness.
@Moldy
If a PS4 was announced with those features(4K Bluray, SSD, slightly different controller, and a different look) and NOT 4.2 TFLOPS, faster/more ram, higher capacity, HDR, etc, we would all feel ripped off. Ofcourse, I'd want all of these features, including 5.5 TFLOPS, but you know how much that would cost? $600+ They obviously picked the features that offer most bang for the buck for GAMING and guess what, it's a game's console. So seriously.
Well they could have released a $299-$399 home console that would have attracted core gamers. There are TONS of PS4/Xbox gamers that would throw down on a Nintendo if they came up with a competant home console. This mobile/console hybrid idea though is going to be too underpowered and overpriced for core gamers to care.
Gears 4 and Scalebound show they're still n00bs when it comes to first party. I played 360 exclusively lastgen and all I can say is MS has had a duncecap all gen. First Xbox One launch woes, cloud, 30% less power/$100 more expensive. Now they have Scorpio, but Gears 4 and Scalebound show they can't even get simple things right like VA/MC. Both MCs are terribad, and J Fenix is nowhere near as badass as his dad. They really screwed the pooch on this one. I might buy a scorpio for ...
I dunno, the fact that they're on UE4 means they can make much faster progress. Also, the teams are prepped from KH3D, BBS, and 2.8, so they'll probably have most of the systems set. From what we've seen in the trailers, they've made good progress. I'm saying 2018 the latest. Now FFVIIR, that may get delayed to PS5 for all we know.
I'm just guessing certain games will get a true 4K patch with PS5. Aside from that, nothing will change for most games.
Lol, buying both. Although PS4 has more exclusives, and far better VA. MS really screwed the pooch on Scalebound/Gears VA/MC. I was really looking forward to those games, but they're obviously still n00bs in the gaming industry. Scorpio is just for 3rd parties, Halo 6, and the controller which I prefer, also torrents so I can use it as a media box with my TV. PS4-Pro has a ridiculously good lineup of games comparitively.
FH3, another Forza, fine.
Gears VA and main characters are terribad. Almost nothing like old gears, horror is nerfed, and the only good characters so far seem to be Marcus and Kate.
DR4 timed exclusive. We already have DR3 as well.
Scalebound, same problem as Gears, terrible VA and MC. Tons of potential wasted.
Scorpio is the most powerful console, but so far does not have a console seller aside from the inevitable...
MS and the poweh of teh cloud!1!!11
Well they already showed Kingdom Hearts so that won't be a heavy contender. That leaves FFXV and FFVIIR to fill the void for AAA/S-tier, meaning we've got a 50% shot. Also, FFVIIR hasn't gone rogue, they're just keeping it on the DL for now as not to draw attention from KH3/FFXV. After XV releases FFVIIR will get another trailer, pretty much guaranteed.
'Kingdom Hearts' and 'Kingdom Hearts-Birth By Sleep' are the best two so far.
Betting on 2019, especially if there's another die shrink before then. If a die shrink is scheduled for 2020, they'll wait it out until then though for cost savings and additional power.
Also, it'll be the start of 3 year updates, and is 6 years between consoles, normal gens are 5 years:
Winter 2013 PS4
Winter 2016 PS4 Pro
Winter 2019 PS5
Winter 2021 PS5 Pro
etc
Also, they're going to be master...

The reason is obvious for PS4 Pro over XB1S... It's 3 times as powerful.
The reason for XB1S is simple like you said, it's cheaper.
It's up to you, but don't say PS4 Pro users don't have a reason to buy because it's upscaled all the same. PS4 Pro games are upscaled from 1800p which is far higher than 900p/1080p like XB1S.
Welp, finally got a reason to buy Scorpio.
Scorpio is going to be a beast, but PS4-Neo will probably be replaced with PS5 by 2019, so what's that, two years of MS being king of specs? Considering the terribad VA on Scalebound and Gears, all I see hope for personally is Sea of Thieves, Recore(which are two games I say are worth $39) and ofcourse Halo 6 and Crackdown. That's just not enough to regain enough marketshare IMO, especially when they're being outdone in two years.
The UHD, honest to god, it...
While I wish PS4Pro was 5 TFLOPS, I still can't blame Sony. Releasing something in the 5.5 TFLOPS range with 1080p60 games would leave them in a tough position for PS5. 4k = 3-4x the power needed, so you're talking about a 15-20 TFLOPS console in 2-4 years? Yeah, fucking, right.
Atleast at 4.2 TFLOPS they're keeping it at 12-16 TFLOPS needed for PS5, and say they're working their magic and can pull off 4K with 10 TFLOPS. Thats a more realistic scenario. ...
I'm going for a 4K HDR OLED by next year. That's $2K for a 55. It'll be the last 2D TV I need to buy though.
@Mikes
The 4K is upscaled, meaning it's using little more power than 1080p in many scenarios. Depending on what it's scaled from (1080p-1800p), the scaler they use, etc, there will be plenty of scenarios where PS4Pro looks better on a 4K set. Not all of them will even have an option for 1080p30/full graphics that will even differ from the 4K mode aside from a scaler.
So yes, you're right in certain scenarios, but definitely not all of them. Many game...
Honestly I think the UHD cryers need to get a life. If it was $499, I'd expect them to add ~5TFLOPS, 12GB RAM, SATA III, far, far before UHD. If they chose UHD over a real upgrade, I'd feel ripped off. Also hardly anyone even buys blurays anymore, much less UHD. You guys are seriously trying to find stuff to complain about.
Now if it was $599 with UHD, ~5 TFLOPS, 12GB RAM, and SATA III, I'd bite, but we all know that wouldn't sell.
It all just depends on how it's utilized. If a game is optimized for PS4-Pro, obviously it won't look much better on Scorpio. If it's optimized for Scorpio, then it'll look markedly better on Scorpio. The main difference I see is that PS4 will have more games in general, so I'm buying both, but will play PS4-Pro more often.
