I don't get how your arguments work out- You say Sony doesn't need to compete, but to an extent even SONY has said they have to compete. They say you need 60-90fps for VR. That's not happening on the current model. NEO on the otherhand, that's competent for their vision.
I'm hoping they release info on the console. This is especially crucial to people buying VR and crucial for them to beat out Xbox if they decide Scorpio will be shown.
Actually PS4's gpu is rumored to be clocked at 911mhz while the r480 @ 1260 or so mhz is 5.5 TFLOPS, so it could very well be the same GPU just downclocked. Reasons for a downclock could be that it's an APU or overall just space/ventilation concerns.
You should be happy about the r480 release. This is the card that will ensure the console revisions are powerful for a cheap price.
To everyone saying the release isn't episodic, it's multi-part. That is the actual, literal, exact definition of episodic. It's episodic.
Anyway I'm buying it, and I'm hoping the game gets upgraded character models on PS4-Neo as well as a more locked 30fps framerate.
Actually this gen was 2-3 years LATE. That's the issue. If they'd have released the consoles on time we'd be on PS5/X2 right now, which would have been better and not had to worry about mid-gen refreshes moving forward.

Actually look at AMD's new r480... 5.5 TFLOPS at $199. It's very possible X1 Scorpio will be affordable at 6 TFLOPS. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 NEO was 6 TFLOPS and $500. Sony is always holding out crucial console info until the last minute.
It really all depends on how well the systems are utilized. With devs still pandering to last console revisions, you might not have all powerful graphics on Xbox, no matter the power difference, aside from 1st parties.
For example- Battlefront- 720p/900p60 will likely get improved to 1080p60. But will you have bigger environments? No. Destruction? No. Will 30% difference make a huge difference once they get past 1080p? Not really, because graphics are still catered...

Overall favorite game soundtrack... Kingdom Hearts comes in second. Sadly, Nobuo Uematsu has stated he's not working on the remake's soundtrack, but I hope the tracks can get given out to the right composers. With some common sense the work of Nobuo is fail-proof to mess up on.

Anyway, I stopped playing Xbox as my favorite Xbox bud has passed away, but sounds good for Xbox fans. E3 should be interesting.
It'll have nothing to do with 4K aside from some indies. Even if they decided to go 4k there would be no improvement in graphics since the system is 4x as powerful as the original and the original still has plenty of games that haven't hit 1080p. It just doesn't make sense. So no, they're not steeped in the the 4k world, they're barely wading in it's waters. It'll be 1080p60, for the most part, and with a greater focus on framerate and VR.
Only thing I won't like is how they implement keyboard and mouse. Even if they restrict matches vs controller, you're still splitting the userbase, which is getting a lesser experience. If they don't, it's unfair. Either way it's a lose lose situation. They should make the game controller-required. It's a great way for them to profit, be fair, and to make PC still feel like an Xbox experience.

I don't understand this- A hybrid system is going to cost twice as much with half the graphics. It's not going to be portable because it's battery life will be short as all get out, and it would be a desperation move to make the successor a handheld(ie- getting out of the console business).
