It'd be very hard to get mods on consoles to the same degree as they are on PC's without actually turning the console into a living room PC in the process. I suppose highly rated mods could be checked and transferred, but smaller creations are too variable in quality.
Not only that, but mod makers game on the PC and so create mods for their platform. If porting a mod to consoles requires any amount of work, I doubt it'll happen.
Having said that, it might be worth ...
If it truly were then Total War: Rome 2, ARMA 3 and other AAA PC exclusives wouldn't be made (the Witcher 2 is another).
I'd certainly say that the "nerd, sausagefest" elements aren't relevant. I'd imagine most PC gamers these days are 35-55 year old adult males.
The ESA also claimed that 50% of gamers are women. I think their data includes facebook games and other extremely casual forms.
That said, PC gaming indeed isn't at all "dead" anywhere, but I'd imagine its locations of dominance are Eastern Europe and China, and not the USA.
So have 50% of women accepted a candy crush saga request on facebook or have 50% of women invested time into the likes of Half Life 2, TES: Skyrim, Dragon Age and Dishonored?
I tried visiting the ESA website to find the data, and there are no statistical documents clearly expressing methodology along with detailed data (bar some glitzy infographic with next to no statistical depth whatsoever).
As much as I'd love it to be the case that women are enjoying ...
Ah I see. Still, I very much doubt there are a very significant amount of those comments. Articles like this make the gaming community seem far more bigoted than we really are.
Sexist? Nobody cares whether she's a woman or a man, but rather how well she understands and respects the gaming community.
She is ideally suited for a role in developing systems for casual and mobile users, but the mess she made with windows 8 is indicative that she is going to fail at appeasing the hardcore gamers which consoles rely on.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman and everything to do with the reality that there were like...
I don't mind the current format for Summer sales, but would really love to see a return to the coal/present achievement-based Xmas sale. That sale was so, so much more fun than anything which came afterwards.
The solution to exploits is, as was said in the article, to ensure that humble bundles charge a reasonable minimum for steam keys around the time of the sale.
I ended up buying things I would never have otherwise considered buying in that Winter sale, just so that I c...
I just don't think it'll be as enjoyable as its single-player predecessors. I love owning my own world to do with as I pleased in Skyrim, and TESO is going to do away with that so I'll just be some cog in the machine, rather than the all-important Dragonborn.
I suppose it'll be great for fans of MMO's, but it's not going to attract the single-player-only gamers like myself who value immersion and customisability (through mods, which are going to be incredibly r...
I suppose the Ultrabook could be considered a laptop as well as a tablet. It'll definitely dominate the vast majority of private purchases for business use, given the absolute necessity of a keyboard and word processing, with iOS and Android being the choice for casual and budget (in Android's case) users.
Tablets are great, but they are not a replacement for desktop pc's; only laptops.
I have an ipad, and enjoy artsy indie games on it, but it's no good for large detailed games, and even Deus Ex: the fall is limited by the nature of the machine.
The three ways I'd improve a tablet are better input, a much, much larger screen, and far better graphics, which basically turns it into a desktop.
Laptops will largely die within the next five years, replaced by vari...
Haha there's always a vocal minority protesting the opposite to everyone else. "We are the 1%!!!" XD
That would certainly be an easy way to do it, and they could even try a unique art-style to make the overworld fit the overall theme of the game. An overworld with high-res textures would be great.
They can even look to Rome: Total War 2 for inspiration of how to make a view of the world attractive while not making it cartoony.
And then it's just a case of making the individual environments, which are definitely no more complex than those seen in other AAA games. ...
They really ought to remake something below X, as going back to their roots might once again set them along the right path.
My personal preference is a remake of IX, but I'd be happy with any of the earlier games too.
Besides, it's not as if it would be "just a remake". The younger gamers are not as familiar with FF as those of us in at least our 20's due to the poor quality of recent releases, and if Square Enix want to capture a new generation ...
lol at the disagreements on this comment - Electronic Arts PR reps are on N4G?
I might actually buy it if they do this.
And on this side of the Atlantic, I was retaking the colony in Empire: Total War :D
Sarcasm or just plain stupid?
Sony, like all corporations are about profit, but at present, they seem to believe that treating their customers like intelligent individuals might be a route to that, unlike Microsoft, who seem to arrogantly believe that we will follow whatever plans they have to directly shape the future games industry.
We reward and praise Sony because we respect intelligent decisions which allow for mutual benefit and punish Microsoft for try...
The thing is, it's easy/cheap enough for them to port it that there is little business sense in limiting it to Xbone only.
Realistically, most people are gamers in some form these days (you could call anyone who accepted a facebook candy crush saga invitation a "gamer"), so as was said above, this "55%" figure is meaningless.
This article seems to be attacking high-spec AAA games though, which are very different type of experience from those described above.
Most of the "hardcore" gamers are indeed white males (given that Europe and North America are still the largest...
Nothing is free in this world except from charities. I wouldn't be praising this until we know how they are actually going to make money off the device if they do this.
Personally, I'd rather pay $300 and just enjoy my rift than have to deal with some "scheme" which probably involves advertisement, mandatory surveys or another flavour of the same general idea.
