A drug can influence people more or less equally no matter how strong their mind. Games and Movies can only affect the minds of idiots.
It's the difference between manually removing a car's suspension system and putting it on a bumpy road to see how it does.
Hence your analogy is flawed.

Well, the important thing is that Bioware is still going, and their style of video games survives with the company.

I'd love to see Mass Effect return, but ONLY if it takes place post ME3. IMO there' nothing worse than a prequel because you already know what happens (unless it is coupled with a sequel to the original, much how the next two Metal Gear Solid games are going.).

Awesome. Hopefully once they've got this "project eternity" relic from the gaming dark ages out of the way they can make something modern, like say.....KOTOR 3.

I don't understand what is so difficult about this situation!

When I bought my Steam games on sale I KNEW that they would be for me only and accessible for the duration of MY LIFE. Nobody else's. Anyone who says otherwise is either a moron or a liar.
Once you finish a game, *most* people no longer want to play it again, because that's the kind of content it is. Hence, in selling it on, you reduce developers' income (in this industry where indie devs ar...

You're completely missing the point. Most "fans" already have every intention of buying a next gen Xbox/PS4, so they'd be "shelling hundreds of dollars" anyway.
No serious gamer spends money on a Wii, and so if fans want to play it they have no choice but to buy hardware they'll probably use once and then put down. As nobody in their right mind would do such a thing (the boycott is just to tell Nintendo that they're not fools), fans are not going t...

Soul Reaver is one game which could do with a fully realised next gen remake.

I love a good old school RPG, but a company as big as Obsidian? Really? The last thing which came close was dungeon siege 3, and that was underwhelming. Smaller indie studios have already proven that they can do great old-school RPG's with unique features (They have to innovate somewhere, otherwise what stops it being essentially an epic baldurs gate mod with new sprites?), such as Grimrock and Torchlight.

I thoroughly enjoyed Alpha Protocol beyond it's bugs, and pers...

I dislike EA, but I hate Zynga with a passion.
Zynga practically mocked devs who put lots of time and effort into AAA experiences by introducing the pathetic "Farmville", which got the AAA publishers saying "social games bla bla bla....bla facetwittersocialiphone bla bla...".
I'm going to crack open a bottle of champagne the day Zynga finally dies.

Just wait till the Oculus Rift hits release. We'll remove the headset and feel like we've just left a warzone.

Solution: Parents do their job and step in if kids do get addicted. That said, when I was a child, nobody limited my game time. I just never became addicted because addictions are only for the weak minded.

They can do what they like. Too bad they're now going to lose SP-loving customers like me. SinglePlayer is the future anyway. Advanced AI with voice synthesis will soon grant us far more immersive experiences than MP.

You say that now, but very soon, you're going to come across an indie title which tries to do 'going to the toilet' well, and it's going to make you rethink your comment.
Like that game where you wait for your date and get really nervous. In a true group survival simulator (zombie type for example), finding an appropriate method for sewage disposal is important, as without it, dysentery would get you before the apocalypse does. This would really add to the sense of sur...

True mature games are those which aren't afraid to tackle absolutely anything, and don't beat around the bush when it comes to mature topics.
Blunt, existentialist themes which don't care about offending people, but do so only through brutal honesty would be truly special.
Developers who decide on an 18+ label before they get started, just so they know from the get-go that they have near-unlimited freedom in how they present their game. Obviously certain topics leg...

No they're not. Economics dictates that where there are potential consumers there will be suppliers, ignoring government intervention.
If the large number SP only consumers are forced to buy games with an MP element, then the cost of the MP element is wasted cash, which could have been spent on gaining more sales from the SP only market by polishing the SP experience.
The gaming industry is full of too many sensationalists who think that anything rising in popularity will ...

Well arbitrary views like yours continue to infect video game forums. Last time I checked by the way, pornography wasn't a disease, but was rather an arrangement of pixels on a screen or colour on a page.

To be honest, I don't think games like this belong on the regular steam store. They should, however have an 18+ steam incognito service to cater for this market.

Ban piracy sites. There's the solution.

Look at this guy's sample size. One. I know people who swear they will never buy a legitimate game and many more who just don't see the point. I buy ALL my games, as I like to support the industry.
Steam sales have turned piracy from being frowned upon to being morally abhorrent. The movie industry has the box office, music is mega cheap to make and musicians are overpaid anyway; while video games cost as much as movies to produce yet don't get box office receipts.
