Finally. After a year's wait for this, I'm going to give the game a try.

I'm not sure a wii-mote is ideal. One of the peripherals I would expect to see in coming years is some form of glove with artificial muscles which contract and expand as we touch things in game (so you can grasp things such as joysticks, weapons and ledges and feel resistance). Combined with a kinect-style camera, this could be very promising.

Regardless, we're going to see a lot of innovation in making VR more immersive beyond the goggles themselves soon I'm sure...

Unless you're planning on squatting in your friend's house or Best Buy until Sony or Microsoft release their version (and that's *if* they do), you'll probably want to buy your own.

They're not going to die a short death. Steam in this case is Google, SteamOS is Android, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are Apple and Blackberry and what Valve are waiting for is a Samsung to come along with a marketing budget the size of a planet and let the public know these things exist.
I'm a PC gamer, so it doesn't concern me, but I can see the allure for console gamers.
Software is cheaper on Steam than it is on Disc for PS4 and XB1, so hardcore gamers will sa...

About time. Taboos like this need to be broken if gaming is going to progress.

In fact I'd go one step further than the representation in this game. It should be *possible* to kill children in open world games in cold blood.
No it's not morally correct to kill children, but if the choice is not given, then one cannot choose *not* to kill children.

In order to make the *right* choice, there must also be the option to make a *wrong* choice, and ...

I'd argue quite the opposite. The problem is that Nintendo simply don't have the market presence at the moment, and unless they innovate again, as they did with the wii, they're not going to come back from this dip.

With the Oculus Rift looking like the next step in gaming innovation, and it seeming likely that console variants will soon follow (if not by Oculus then first party by Sony and Microsoft), I feel it possible that Nintendo might just have nothing left ...

This article makes a glaring error. It claims that Mass Effect 3 was the most controversial title of 2012 when in reality the only issue with that game was the ending, which fans thought lacked closure. Mass Effect 3 was otherwise in all respects an excellent game, by far superior to its predecessors in terms of gameplay and story (prior to the ending - ME2 imo had the best ending).

Dragon Age 2 was a low point, being an average game for an exceptional developer, while TOR su...

Single player games are not out for the count.

Single Player is probably the future of video games, and what we're currently experiencing is a lull until artificial intelligence can become superior to human competition.

The very fact which makes an advanced AI superior to a human is that the latter is an actor while the former is not. The former is able to act in a far more believable fashion because it cannot break character.

AI hasn'...

Had enough cards for a level 2 badge but that stupid DDoS attack prevented me from going to my badges section to form it yesterday.

I really hope the guys responsible get caught and put behind bars for what they did.

Indeed the industry is a business and money indicates the companies we, as consumers, support the most, but exclusives are inefficient.

Exclusives are economically inefficient in that they are used to sell poor quality hardware for above the market price (as it would be without any exclusives). For example, if there were no exclusives, we would buy our platform purely on value for money subject to the constraint of our budget (so the best hardware would sell see the highest p...

I haven't pirated a PC game ever and I spent over £200 on Steam last year. Also if this is true, then why are PC software sales projected to overtake console software sales next year?

And Australia calls itself a "liberal" democracy? I find society these days is censoring more and more things which don't agree with the views of the majority.

The fact is that no matter how subjectively "horrific" people may view something, an adult has a right to observe, produce and sell it so long as no high-penalty laws are broken in its production.

I mean, I support feminism, for example, on a private level, by persuading people ...

Well at least she mentioned the lack of a family tree as a letdown.

Though for me this reason alone is enough to hate the game passionately...that, and the broken testudos (fix those two and I'll give it another try).

If we keep legitimately arguing against their points, this will indeed happen. Not only don't they get it, but they don't listen. Explaining freedom of beliefs in media, or the fairness of the free market to a feminist, socialist or internationalist is like explaining evolution to a creationist. Their beliefs are too deep set and their minds are closed.

To be honest, I'd like to see less of these approved.

The only people who are offended by this is people who take the world too seriously.

It's not like anybody creating these actually supports Nazism for crying out loud. They're just nihilists who find it funny that a silly little 2D symbol can cause some people to go crazy.

Wait, so copying an awesome idea is now frowned upon?
Then let's just attack George RR Martin for "copying" Tolkien.
Also, this is innovation. What they're doing is not copying Sony or Microsoft, but taking a risk and putting a high-resolution trackpad (like you have on your laptop) onto a controller. This will mean you can play first person shooters more effectively and actually be able to play strategy games in the form cose to that which the creators inten...

It's not maturing.

It has, however, now come onto the radar of left-wing totalitarians.
Games have been victim to right-wing fear mongering over violence and nudity for years.

Now, the left-wing has smelled blood and is out to change the "moral" content of games to suit the views they all think everyone else should be brainwashed into holding.

Both need to back off and stop trying to control what ideas or content everyon...
