Well that's great for those of you who play MMO's, but I know I'd like to see another single player game where they listen to fans.

My personal wish is to see a single player game set in the more Medieval FF landscape again. XII had an awesome world, and may have been one of the best games in the series had they focused more on character development.
Of course a remake of an older game (VII or IX) would be great too, and bring new younger fans to the serie...

Square Enix is dead. The final fantasy ip is stuck like a seed in the ground waiting for some new developer which actually listens to fans to purchase and nurture it, hopefully allowing it to sprout again.

I mean they've even ditched Nobuo Uematsu for XV. I honestly can't wait for that studio to go under and see the ip I love rescued by a developer which deserves it.

Which is very unfortunate for someone as MMOphobic as myself. Guess I'll have to tough out the next generation until heavy AI advances once again raise single-player experiences above multiplayer by far.

I know a couple of gay people and truth be told I didn't even realise they were at the start. I still have them as friends and they're some of the nicest guys I know. I have nothing against supporting characters being gay at all, and like I said, I first and foremost support the choice.

What feels awkward for me is being forced into the shoes of someone who is gay and partaking in the flirting and romance. If this felt natural to me, or I enjoyed it, then I would almo...

I don't mind sometimes playing as a character who is not the same ethnicity as myself (that isn't a massive deal, though of course I prefer someone from my own background). Nor do I mind playing a woman occasionally (though as a man, I again lose immersion, especially when these women are seen to be in relationships with men in-game. That just feels weird to me).
I will never buy a game where I'm forced to play as a homosexual character. I'm supportive of the option (a...

What I don't get is that violence, fighting and blood has been perfectly normal for thousands of years, yet in the 21st century, arrogant, bigoted politicians (often Christian) think they have some sort of moral duty to stop it, and always use kids as some sort of golden excuse.

I'm sorry, but kids are no longer the dominant segment of the market. Those at least 18 years old are perfectly suited to see all manner of sex or violence so long as it is not sadistic in nat...

These trolls just hurl the worst abuse possible, empty threats being part of it. Many of us have at some point had our lives threatened by some random profile on the internet, and it's meaningless unless they act on it, in which case they should face the full force of the law. Celebrities get tonnes of these, but zero are followed through with. As long as our personal details are protected (as Lord_Sloth rightly said) then I see no need for the police to get involved.
I mean, if s...

Trolls will be trolls. While none of us should pay any respect to their words, their presence on the internet is reassuring, as it confirms that freedom of speech is still alive and well. Besides, these words can't hurt anyone unless they value the opinion of such trolls.

They had a simple job to do and failed.

As far as I can tell, Blizzard are stuck in 2005 with the quality of their games but have adopted the worst of DRM and 2010+ business models.

If development tools become both far easier to use and drastically cheaper then more work can be done in less time.

Also, I don't think prices need to rise as much as sales. People will spend more money on games if there are good ones coming out. I may break the bank to buy EU4, XCOM:TB and SR4, in addition to the RTW:2 I've already pre-ordered because they look to be very high quality, so I'll be buying all four at full price.
Skyrim is an example of simi...

This is stupid. I play on my iPad and PC.

The main reasons are that portability gives way to a larger screen, far better graphical quality and more advanced controls (in the case of the latest tech).

Tablets won't overcome these unless they cease to be a tablet anymore. I love tablets, but they're not substitutes for beefier static machines.

I still don't understand. How will this game work for people who are generally bad at multiplayer games?

As opponents will generally be better than you unless you are an MP veteran, surely this will mean you either keep failing missions or are forced to die and respawn every few moments?

I mean, that would totally break immersion.

We must remember that for every winner in multiplayer, there is a loser, until those losers give up, quit pl...

Twisty logos on the front of the consoles.

The last time this happened publishers gave birth to that unwanted abomination of microtransaction-based F2P.

I don't even want to know what sleazy, dishonest gimmick they're going to think of next to cause casuals to become addicted in the same way as gambling to their rubbish. And then the rest of us will just sit back and sigh as our stream of the games we want because they're good and not addictive like a drug just wanes like a parched stream.

Uncompetitively priced.

True, we have few rights on digital, but at least with Steam we get low prices in return, so it's fair.

Origin just sells two year old games at original retail prices and yet gives us the same rights as titles on steam, despite perpetually demanding three times as much.

Origin needs to either die or hold some sales. I haven't bought an EA game since Mass Effect 3 over a year ago, and I'm getting fed up of their products being so competitively priced.

4578d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

True, but still. Origin charge stupidly high prices for their older games. I expect steam will now follow suit.

Rights can become shackles. When it became legislation in Europe that we are allowed to sell digital copies of games, it also meant we can't opt out.
As a dev, I'd be willing to sell my game at a lower price if I knew people could not sell it, because it would mean only one person would play it in most cases, and others would buy it from me.

How are single-player, near-unreplayable games like Bioshock going to fare? In week two they'd be down to a third o...

It will. It would be financially insane for Steam to keep the same sale prices and allow borrowing/selling of games.
