All good art is bound to enthrall as many people as it enrages, so perhaps this criticism is a sign of the game's success?
I find the critique of Bioshock infinite to be abhorrent for its attempt to impose subjective morality upon others. Racism is not automatically evil, just because society tells us it is.
An intellectual society is one where nothing is taboo for discussion or media, and the best ideas (chosen by consensus) ultimately dominate legislation; where we start ruthlessly attacking games for presenting neutral views, it is clear that prejudice is still present, and preventing us from further d...
This article is all over the place. The fact is, we must buy what we want to see more of and boycott anything which we think is heading in the wrong direction.
If we want to see MMO's or f2p then we should buy more of them (I hate them myself).
If we want to see fairer DRM then we DO boycott companies which use it and reward those like CDprojekt which treat us like humans and not cash cows.
If we disagree with kojima on this issue then we wait and see if his change...
What she says: "stop glorifying the use of "big, powerful guns" or else Congress might have to step in and do something about it"
What she means: Despite evidence to the contrary, video games scare me, and I feel that because I'm scared by them, I'm going to try and get my friends to help me ban freedom of expression in video games so that I can sleep safety at night. I know better than all of you because I'm a senator, representing the people ...
While I wish this guy the best, I'll never be buying his games. The only games I buy are full packages, or full packages with a few DLC packs.Freemium is a model for kids, and not adults who can both afford full games and don't have the time to waste on what are so often very shallow experiences.
I'd love to see Britain's game industry return to prominence, but I think that will only happen once the global industry sorts itself out. What we need to do as consumers is b...
Indeed; it looks terribly out of place among the warm-coloured environments.
I registered for Origin. I don't, however, actually use it much.
If we refuse to buy these games then the market will be small and publishers will not produce for them. Unless governments act to regulate the industry sales models, the onus is on us to make wiser spending decisions. Supporting DRM-free games like The Witcher 2, which also had free dlc will teach publishers to return to the traditional games-as-art model of development. If governments continue to sleep, we'll have to take responsibility ourselves, unfortunately.
If you haven't, like me, boycotted this game on principle then you deserve to put up with such long waiting times and difficulties. Games should be art, but products like SimCity and other online games detract heavily from this. There are two parts to a gane business: making money and gaining personal satisfaction from creating good games you feel proud of. The games industry needs to see a more ethical style of capitalism involved if it is to carry on any further, and as an economist, it...
Until western governments actually take a look at the games market and start regulating controls, we're going to keep getting abused as consumers.
Games which give us 1/4 of the game and allow the rest through some form of store (the sims 3) should be labelled clearly on the front.
Games which require an always online connection should be outright banned unless it can be proven that online play is an absolute necessity of the game (MMO's).
We as consum...
I'm a PC gamer who left console gaming around the time the PS3 came out.
I remember how irritating it was waiting for a new console to be released on PS2, as while the content kept improving, the graphics stagnated, and it bottlenecked the quality of each game.
yes, less exclusives is a good thing. Exclusives are only present so that Sony or Microsoft can get a leg up over each other, and for the large part they prevent us from playing all the games.
Everyone wins here as well. Not only do PC gamers see more products for their platform, but console gamers are able to upgrade when they get tired of their graphics (I'm sure just about every console gamer right now is fed up of the ancient graphics and Sony and Microsoft's arrogance at proclaiming a ten year cycle).
This means shorter periods before leaps in games' graphics and less exclusives too.
I really hope this thing succeeds for the sake of gamers taking ba...
I must be one of the few people who don't find fallout enjoyable any more. Perhaps I've just become bored of wasteland in video games, but I just find the series boring (so much so that I barely got halfway through FNV before I quit).
We all knew this was coming with Bethesda fighting so hard to reign in control over the Fallout license, but I was secretly hoping that Bethesda would create a new ip, perhaps in space, using the Skyrim engine.
Having said that, ...
Ok, so lets ignore Paris then for the time being (although I still think it can be done well.)
London: Dark and dreary with gothic themes - wealthy in certain areas contrasted with bleak areas for the poor (Soho, East London - think Sweeney Todd). Plenty of wealthy estates to infiltrate so perhaps having more internal stealth would be a benefit (crouching was sorely needed in AC3). The Surrey countryside would also be quite interesting to explore.
To be hones...
They were both dead on arrival as the PC was far better than both, and has only been eclipsing them further ever since. I do love PS3-Xbox360 fanboyism - it's like arguing whether a Ford Fiesta is better than a Toyota Prius.
The PS3 is a weak piece of trash from almost a decade ago. Mine sits on my desk gathering dust while I use my state of the art PC for modern games. Trust me when I say that the PS3 has been pushed as far as possible by games such as Farcry 3.
I love the idea of this reboot. Everything is new, so forget all we once knew. Take it as it is - an weak orphaned girl becoming a strong woman (coming of age) and it sounds great.
I'm seriously fed up of hearing stupid ultrafeminist comments about her being made weak. In reality, many women (and men) are weak (a weak man becomes strong in Farcry 3), and feminist attempts to unrealistically portray all as strong are embarrassing to the wider equality movement.
Agreed. Choice is perhaps the most important element to modern RPG's, and gay players should be able to play as a gay character in those where it is suitable (ie. not uncharted where the story is fixed).
I'm completely against having openly gay characters thrown in my face if they constantly remind you of their sexual orientation. I'm also opposed to being forced to play as a gay character or have gay romance thrown in my face (I can't watch Torchwood any more).
Having the option to be a gay character and being aware that characters are gay (Traynor in ME3 - that was very tastefully done) is a great thing though which increases freedom for the player, reflects modern socie...
I think Cliff should "deal with" the fact that it isn't 2030 yet and that it is the role of companies to "deal with" what consumers want, and not the other way round.
