Why would the proposed PS5 use a UHD Bluray player when that has nothing to do with gaming? I would rather the PS5 had a 1TB SSD (minimum 480MB/sec write, 540MB/sec reads) rather than a UHD Bluray player.

Currently, the largest game I have is The Witcher 3 with its two DLC's and that is around 71GB but most games (even AAA) are very much less than 45GB. This won't change even with 4K or 8K gaming and you can get games like Crysis which are less than 20GB and will di...

You appear to listen to too much PR speak.

Developing a game is not about getting tools like Unity, Unreal etc which are available for most platforms anyway. Basically, the tools you mentioned allow the developer to port their games to other platforms easier than having to program the game using a different suite of tools for each platform. After the porting is done it may be necessary to customise that port to work efficiently on the target platform.

The best games are the ones you play and like rather than the games that all the critics?? tell you to play and like.

Yes, sometimes you will agree with what other people like but at the end of the day that choice is yours and yours alone.

I have always liked the Zelda and Metroid games but have no interest in Mario or Pokemon games and at the moment one Zelda game no matter how good is not going to convince me to purchase the Switch especially since I do...

The game "Yonder" looks nothing like Windwaker (Oceanhorn does) if you want a Zelda comparison you could try Ocarina of Time. I definitely do agree that the art style for "Yonder" is really nice. The game even has a day/night cycle (not sure about the weather, though).

From what I can gather "Yonder" is an Adventure game with RPG elements and there are no actual enemies you can fight so it definitely won't appeal to the crowd that demands t...

Having played and finished all console Zelda games from the NES though Wind Waker on the Gamecube I can definitely say that the Zelda experience has definitely got better but to give the latest Zelda game a 10 out of 10 just smacks at wearing rose colored spectacles.

Repeat after me. "No game past or present should ever get a perfect score" there are always cons with some being minor and others major.

Here is a "nitpick" which you can ...

Wat is interesting is the fact that the company Prideful Sloth https://www.pridefulsloth.c... is a small Australian Indi game developer consisting of three people. Gameplay (at least what I have seen in a 10-minute video) appears to be very much an "old school" RPG with nice high-resolution smooth cartoony graphics, crafting, day/night cycle and even fishing.

BTW. I don't mind modern games hav...

Take a look at the videos of "Yonder" and yes there are so-called Zelda similarities but that could be said for any game with RPG. A good example is "Oceanhorn" which is almost a blatant Zelda Windwaker copy but if you have ever played the game it is IMHO quite good and they definitely got the sailing right.

As far as I am concerned Zelda games are just that "Zelda games" which should be compared to previous Zelda games and should not be compar...

The original NES version of Metroid was quite good as well although it was a pain copying and entering the save code. The SNES version of Metroid was a battery (internal to the cartridge) save. Also if you completed the NES version Metroid in (I think) in under three hours you got the reveal. 😉

May I ask what has a 4K Bluray player to do with games?

The only PS4 that does not have audio optical out is the PS4slim. All other PS4's have it.

If you are interested in movies then you pay a premium for 4K movies compared to HD movies although to be fair providing you have a decent (read expensive) UHDTV the display will be better but you are only watching a show not playing a game. But no matter which way you look at it, Sony will like you anyway...

Since the Switch doubles as a handheld, you should treat it in the same way you treat a mobile phone or even a tablet. In other words, spend the small amount of money to make sure you keep the Switch's screen looking good.

@ps360s

Getting a screen protector for a TV is overkill since it is very unlikely you would throw something at your screen unless it was a Wii Mote because you forgot to put the wrist strap on. 😉

@Masterchief_thegoat

I will agree that Bloodborne has a very aggressive combat style and in many ways so does The Witcher 4, however, the actual combat style of the TW3 depends on the difficulty level you choose. On Easy to Normal, you can basically just mash the attack button for most enemies however on "Blood and Broken Bones" and especially Death March" (The best IMHO) you really do need to consider heavy and light attacks as well as the use of potions, oi...

Here is an interesting test.

If you have The Witcher 3, Skyrim or Dragon's Dogma (just to name three) take a look at the trees and see if you can find trees that look identical. In Zelda Breath of the Wild (you can look at the videos as well) also take a look at the trees. If you can't see what the developers have done in Zelda for foliage then I suggest you get glasses.

To be fair no matter which way you look at the backgrounds this still does no...

A word of caution:

From the article, it appears that the PS4 will "format" the external drive and since FAT (patent has expired) is not a suitable filesystem for storing large files it will not be used. As for exFAT and NTFS those filesystems are Microsoft proprietary and will not be used unless Sony wishes to pay Microsoft a royalty which I can't see Sony doing.

It is very likely that the PS4 will format the external drive using the same fi...

Oh great a DYI which entails opening up the Joy-Con which (of course) voids your warranty.

If you have a problem take the machine back since it will be under warranty and if enough people do that Nintendo will or should I say better fix the issue quickly. Unfortunately sending the whole Nintendo Switch back is a huge inconvenience so it may be more appropriate to ask for a Joy-Con replacement and somehow I can't see the store doing that.

It does appear that the Japanese do like handhelds and the Switch can double as a handheld. Also, Zelda Breath of the Wild is Action/Adventure with RPG elements and RPG's and Action games are fairly popular in Japan.

The problem you will find with the Switch is its size. Yes it can double as a handheld and I am very sure many players will use it like that but you also have to consider that the Switch is a very big handheld and would not be that convenient as say a dedic...

It is not that difficult to replace the battery on your dual shock 4 controllers but if you have a warranty you will void it. A battery bank or a long USB, a micro USB cable (the cheapest solution) or something like a clip-on battery pack (they are not that expensive) may be a better solution.

Of course, the most expensive option would be to get a second controller.

The top one and it is mentioned in the article is a screen protector. The tempered glass one is probably the best but at least get one unless you want your screen scratched and there have been cases of the "dock" actually causing scuffing. Any person who has ever got a smartphone will advise you to do this.

If you don't feel confident putting a screen protector on yourself take the protector to a phone accessory place and pay them to do it (any more than $10 i...

I have not played the game so I cannot comment on her voice acting.

I have watched Anime and can understand a few words of Japanese although I predominately rely on good subbing. What is interesting is when that same Anime is dubbed into English. Sometimes the dubbing is excellent in that the voice acting is on par with the Japanese voice acting which makes watching and listening to me a pleasure and at other times the dubbing is so cringeworthy or not in keeping with what ...

I agree with your first and third paragraphs but not with your second unless you are counting backward compatibility as "more games".

Yes, we know the Scorpio is going to be more powerful since it's been hyped about for some time now but when is it going to be released and what is it's price?
