Well if you play The Wither 3 on "Just The Story!" (Easiest) or "Story and Sword!" (Default) you are in for a fairly easy game which can get very boring since there is little incentive to use your "signs" or "potions and oils". If you play on "Blood and Broken Bones!" (harder) and preferably "Death March!" (Hardest for the first playthrough) you really do have to take all your attributes (ie. armor, swords, signs, potions, oils and e...
I do think being whiny is a poor way of critiquing something although I did not read that in the article, but then again so is giving a product a free pass because the person who is critiquing is looking at the product through rose coloured glasses. A good critic should look at both the pros and cons, spelling them out and the reasons for the overall score.
IMHO the two best critiques on Zelda Breath of the Wild are Jim Sterling's (7/10 - good) which if any rabid fanboy...
Yooka-Laylee is coming out for the following platforms PS4, XB1, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems, macOS and the initial release date will be 11th April 2017 (ie. two weeks away). From the article, it looks like the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime after that date.
Contrast the (EB Games - Australia) price of the PS4 version which is $59.95 AUD ($45.66 USD) to the Switch version $99.95 AUD ($76.13 USD). 3346d ago 5 agree1 disagreeView comment
At the moment all I see is one game and pretty much all other third party games I can purchase cheaper for the PS4 and they will look better.
Yes, the Morio's and Pokemon's are coming but I never was interested in those franchises. A Metroid game is attractive but I don't know if it is in the works and that would only make two game franchises that I like. Two games is not a big enough incentive for me to buy a Switch.
I actually stopped suppor...
I have not played Horizon Zero Daw yet although it is definitely on my to-do list after I finish The Witcher 3 and its two DLC on "Death March" difficulty.
If you have only played The Witcher 3 on Easy or Normal you really should consider playing on "Blood and Broken Bones" (harder than normal) and preferably "Death March" (hard) which basically means you die allot initially since you really do have to consider your armor, signs, weapons and po...
Actually, if PS Now had an option of actually downloading the game to your hard drive for the duration of the gameplay you would have a much better service that would not be bound to streaming which in turn is limited by the performance of your network.
This is not to say get rid of streaming for PS Now since the service is not just for the PS3, PS4 and the PC but for smart devices such as TV's and phones which would have limited if any storage for download.
Did not read the article since Forbes always insist I turn off my add blocker.
I definitely liked Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube and still have the game as well as the Gamecube.
The game Eternal Darkness was developed by Silicon Knights which according to the Wiki was a Canadian video game developer. Founded in 1992 by Denis Dyack and ceased operations in 2014.
Nintendo reregistered its (Eternal Darkness) trademark on July 29, 2013, with a new document that indicated that it might be a downloadable game. 3347d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
Well, you can get a 50GB Bluray disk well under a $1 in OEM quantities while a similar capacity SD card even in OEM quantities costs over ten times that. Even if you want to compare prices at retail you can get fifty 50GB Blurays for $45 USD (see eBay) compared to a 64GB class 10 SD card at $30 USD (see eBay).
Right now people are enjoying their Switch with Zelda Breath of the Wild because if you don't really like Zelda games or have finished it (played and enjoyed all ...
The Sony walkman was released on the 1st July 1979 and was cassette based. A later release that used CD's was in 1984. Even in the 1990's CD's were still relatively inexpensive compared to memory cards.
I do think that CD's for portable players is a bit of nostalgia when looked at today since you can easily store hundreds if not tens of thousands of music arrangements in formats ranging from mp3 (the most common) to FLAC (lossless) on fairly cheap solid stat...
Yes, we all know how difficult it is to plug in a battery bank (external or clip-on), a USB to micro USB cable or (shock horror) a second DS4 controller. Depending on the game I can get anything from 6 hours to 10 hours out of my stock standard DS4.
Like it or not rechargeable batteries do require changing. Forget and you have effectively a lump of plastic.
DVD double density disks can store 8.5GB while Bluray disk can store 25GB (single layer) or 50GB (dual layer). If you look at UHD Bluray you can get capacities of 66GB (dual layer) or 100GB (triple layer) but you do need a UHD Bluray player for them.
You can get SD cards ranging in size from 4GB to over 256GB (less than 4GB is pretty much obsolete or just not cost effective) but compared to passive media (ie. optical disks) they are still significantly more expensive.
The Bluray readers of the PS4 and XB1 can read at a rate of 27MB/sec and most class 10 SD cards average out at 90MB/sec to 120MB/sec which is about the performance of a stock standard 5400rpm hard disk that is used in the PS4 or XB1. https://havecamerawilltrave...
Throw in an SSD to a PS4 (not exactly cheap) and your read performance jumps to 500MB/sec which in the case of the ...
Maybe that is the case with Nintendo but have you looked at the price of digital games on PSN or XBox Live? Sure there is little if any difference between games on Bluray compared to Digital download on first release games but if you don't mind a few months wait you can get those games digitally that are significantly cheaper than retail or even second hand. Some spot sales can save you over 80% especially if you are a PS+ or XBox gold member.
As an example, I can get t...
@Haurus
You are quite right in saying that "solid state memory technology has improved vastly in the last 20 years" but it is still pricey compared to something like a Bluray disk which is what is called a passive device in that there are no electronics or moving parts.
If you are looking at a handheld device you basically have no choice but to use a cartridge mainly for robustness and size although you will always have people who point to the P...
A few grams of C4 or some other more exotic explosive such as semi-liquid or gel that can easily be injected into pretty much any device will be enough to take down any aircraft.
I don't advise research on the above type of explosives which makes a "firecracker" look like a damp squib unless you trust your operating system and/or browser.
CD Projekt RED has always given credit to the Author of the Witcher books so he (Andrzej Sapkowski) can capitalize on book sales.
When a company has plans to create a game or movie based on a book or series of books it is up to the author or his/her lawyers to negotiate the terms and conditions associated with the use of the story in the games or movies.
Unfortunately, on PSN (Australia) the game is still full price but I still have a huge backlog of games so I can wait.
Many games allow you to experiment with different ways of dispatching an enemy. Whether your character will survive the experimentation is dependent on how fair the gameplay is. This is why I like the Souls/Bloodborne series since the games can be brutal but they are always fair and every time you die it is always your fault.
Not all third party developers have the time and/or expertise or money to port their games across all platforms. You only have to look at games like Arkham Nights which had an extremely bad PC port and there are plenty of other examples where ports, not just to PC were terrible.
Even on PC's there are many operating systems other than Microsoft Windows such as Mac OS and Linux which are not binary compatible. It's no good saying everyone should use a Microsoft Windo...
