I don't mind a hard game but it has to be fair.
By that I mean the game rules apply equally to you and your enemies although it is not a good idea to tackle a huge beast at level 10 and armed with basic clothing and a standard dagger. The beast in the stream in the Forest of the Giants area in Dark Souls 2 comes to mind. 🙂

If you are a developer you should be aiming for the market that will give you the most return on your investment and that market is the one where the most potential buyers are.

You do know that a 4K or even 8K display can upscale a video signal using various scaling techniques some being almost as good as if the content was actually at a native resolution, don't you?

Unfortunately not since a 60fps game for the pro would be an unfair advantage on those players using the standard PS4 version which runs at 30fps.
BTW. If Destiny 2 was running at 60fps on the XB1x and only 30fps on the XB1 I do think the XB1 gamers would not be very impressed.
While I do agree that the while console looks good I do prefer matte black (what I currently have) which goes well with my electronics.
I will consider getting a PS4pro (already got a PS4) around Christmas if the price comes down or it is bundled with some must-have games and Destiny 2 is not one of those games. Still, if Destiny 2 is your thing then go for it.

You also have to remember that Microsoft said that all games for the XB1x have to be playable on the XB1 so if a game looks really good on the XB1x and does not play and/or look all that good on the XB1 is really going to annoy around 30 million XB1 owners.

I do agree but effectively the WiiU is a dead system so it is very unlikely you will see another game for it although it is extremely likely that those games that are in development for the WiiU will now end up on the Switch instead.
This is why I was glad I did not buy many games for the GameCube although to be fair the games I do have are still playable today since my HDTV does have an AV input port along with four HDMI ports that my PS3, PS4 and PVR are connected to.
Let's put it this way would you (as the parent) purchase a Switch for your under teen children?
Yes there are parents with more money than sense but the majority of parents may consider one Switch for the houshold but two or more starts to get expensive so they would be better off purchasing a DS since it is so much more robust and portable.

A Dark Souls remaster running at 60 fps which IMHO is much more important than 4K although it would not be unappreciated.
Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin runs at 60 fps on the PS4. Granted there are some dips but after playing for over 40 hours I rarely see any.
When you have a display that has a 200Hz refresh rate the picture quality does look pretty good.
Bloodborne like Demons Souls are exclusive to the PS4 and PS3 respectively. The Dark Souls series is multi-platform.
A bit of trivia.
- Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin runs at 60 fps on the PS4.
- The servers for Demons Souls (PS3) are still up and people are still playing it.
The PS4 did win over the XB1 vanilla because of a number of factors one of which was a $100 USD price differential but there were plenty of other reasons as well such as a small form factor of the PS4 and the fact that Microsoft was sending mixed and confusing messages as to "DRM" and the required "Kinect".
