You can complete a game without getting a Platinum.
For me, the most important part of playing and maybe completing the game is having fun.
For some games getting a Platinum becomes a grind fest which usually entails getting a how-to or some cheats. This is great if you are a completionist but is that really fun?
There are some trophies that I have for some games that I would like to delete since they were actually put there by my son or his friends using my user name (PS3) or me playing a game that I actually lost interest in playing.
BTW. The PS4 at least has a password access scheme for a user name (essential if you have a PS+ account).
I know this may sound strange but achievements and unlocking stuff are up to the developers of the game, not the machine the game is running on.
Well great if you have a spare $10,000 USD just lying around for your graphics cards (4 0ff) and that does not cover the cost of upgrading your PC, plus 16 display port cables and 16 4K monitors although to be fair DP cables are not that expensive.
Actually, Return of The Tomb Raider had a blistering frame rate of approx 1.3 fps. Minecraft was surprisingly responsive and playable.
BTW. You also have to consider the desk and the 4K panel mounting system wh...
Most of the games on the Switch are Nintendo staples (ie. Zelda, Mario something, etc) although I will concede "Arms" and possibly although debatable "Splatoon". Pretty much all the rest are games that can already be played on the PS4 and XB1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
Yes, there are are other exclusives but most are not out yet.
The author is certainly entitled to their opinion but because he had stated it in open forum, readers are also entitled to either agree or disagree and so far the consensus is "disagree".
Normally I find FPS games fairly boring but I really had a great time playing the Doom demo and currently, the full game is pretty cheap on PSN.
I assume you killed the Griffin in "White Orchard" which is really just a sandbox tutorial.
I do suggest that if you wish to continue playing start the game again but this time on the "Death March" difficulty and vow that you will not baby out by reducing this no matter what you come up against. This way you are basically forced to get better equipment, potions, oils and spells.
Once you clear "White Orchard" (takes about fou...
I have been running a Linux distribution for well over 20 years (currently running Fedora 26) and with the exception of the latest games which do require DX12 (I have a PS3 and PS4 for gaming), I can play thousands of Linux based Steam games.
As for Microsoft centric software, I can easily do what I want in Linux so I don't need Mircosoft anything.
Currently, market share for Linux is about 2.53% of PC's however if you are talking Super computers ...

You get Windows 10 for free? I guess your main running costs is the green parrot on your shoulder.
The trouble with Windows 10 is it phones home (good luck fully stopping this) and while Microsoft is quite happy to let you have a dodgy license once their market share (currently 27.63% across PC's) picks up you may find your license revoked.
If you buy a PC you are most likely going to pay the "Microsoft Tax" in that in the majority of cases it will now come with Microsoft Windows unless you purchase a Mac and in that case, it comes with Apple's version of Unix.
Of course, you can build your own desktop and decide what operating system you wish to install however if you are a gamer or want Microsoft centric software once again you will probably opt for Microsoft Windows.

The PS4 can not read CD's. Pray tell us how the PS4's Bluray reader can read PS1 disks?
Actually, PS1 games normally fitted on a CD which could store 650MB or 700MB and although many games easily fitted on a single CD some did not (eg. Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9). I think on average most games were in the two to 400 MB range and as such you would need a few GB of storage to put on say 20 times 300MB (assuming) games which may require ROM storage of over 6GB although you could easily do this on a 16GB SD card.
Contrast this to the NES (size of games varied from 4...
Yes, but PS4 updates download in the background and you can nominate when you wish to update and reboot which takes approximately three minutes.
What I don't understand is the need for two reboots for the PS4 since I run a Linux (Fedora 26) distribution and the only time my machine requires a reboot (only once) is when I get a new kernel and that takes approximately one minute for me to be fully operational again.
An application update for the PS4 no...
@Gemmol
You are quite right the "switch cartridge size can go bigger than 16gb" (your words). The problem is that the price increases as well. Also while we are on the subject of cartridges the normal (ie. cheaper) cartridges have a read/write of approximately 100/80 MB which is pretty much the same as a hard disk and you can store so much more on a hard disk than on a cartridge.
If you have a PS2 or a PS3 you can still play all PS1 media providing that media is readable.
Of course, emulation is cheaper especially if you pirate the ROMS. Are you suggesting that we all put a green parrot on our shoulders while taking a swig of rum and singing "Yo Ho Ho"? 😉
Sony is pushing into the mobile market with the PlayStation since you can get apps that integrate with some PS games.
Actually, you can get 4K monitors that are cheaper than regular monitors although you should really do your homework.
In the case of a monitor screen size will dictate your viewing distance which will vary between each viewer. A good rule of thumb is if you can clearly make out the pixels your face is either too close (see an optometrist 😊 ) or you need a display with a higher pixel count.
1080p is usually fine for screen sizes of 24" or les...
If you are in the market for a UHD TV and are interested in gaming you really do need to do your homework before you come to a decision.
The most important question to ask is "What am I going to use this display for?" If you are living in a household you may find that the other household members have their own wants and those may not agree with yours so if you are more interested in gaming it may be much more cost effective to get a decent gaming monitor especiall...
I would prefer 8K/Next-Gen console.
You can get 8K now although it would be expensive, however, if you could wait two to three years 8K will be the norm which is a bit like 720p being superseded by 1080p. The problem is that free to air TV's shows today are rarely in 1080p with most being 720p (if you are lucky) and I don't see this changing anytime soon.
