Well in OEM quantities the difference between 500GB and 1TB 2.5" disk drives is not that much more, so even if the 1TB PS4 is say $10 to $50 more I think that would be the more preferred. Of course a 7200rpm drive which is only a few extra dollars would be more preferable since you would get almost a 20% improvement in HDD performance.
Still IMHO a 2.5" 7200rpm HDD PS4 would be an awesome buy especially if the price is comparable to the original PS54 with it's 2...
If they are running a Linux kernel and OS then most likely OpenGL could be used. As for games running under a Linux kernel take a look at Android devices (tablets and smart phones) there are thousands of games for them although IMHO I do prefer a controller when I play games, not a touch screen.
As far as DX12 goes that is a proprietary API owned by Microsoft and used on their operating systems. It is not relevant for Apple (IOS) and Android (Linux).

The PS3, PS4, WiiU, XB360 and XB1 can output to 1080p so basically a 4k TV will just up-scale. The problem comes when you really want 4k content which is definitely not available for gaming on the consoles. It is for Video though.
Yes PC's can actually output native 4k but you are really going to pay for it since very few graphics cards can even come close to native 4k.
So basically the proposed steam machine will have a fair...
Well we do have 8k Monitors and TV on the horizon but unless you are the kind that takes a magnifying glass to study the pixel density or the type that is going to have very poor eyesight in the future by sitting too close then I very much doubt you could pick the much of a difference between an 8k monitor/TV and a 4k monitor/TV.
Of course initially 8k monitor/TV's are not going to be cheap. You can actually purchase 4k depending on the model that is within 10% the price...
There is nothing wrong with telling a story, films, stage and books do this all the time however in nearly all cases you are the passive spectator. Games on the other hand require input from the player.
There is no denying that some games that have a story behind them are very linear or are "on-rails" and cut scenes are just fillers to advance the story which is not that much more different than what film does now although unlike a film the player has to interact wi...

Spoken by someone who doesn't appear to know how the share market works. Sure Microsoft has billions however it is still responsible to it's shareholders and losses get those people nervous.
So no Microsoft does not have infinite money and they do have to be careful that they don't break the laws of the countries they sell their products in.
Tomb Raider and Until Dawn actually fall in to different categories or genres if you wish so why compare them?
If you wish to compare Tomb Raider against a similar game then why not Uncharted? However these two games will be released almost 5 to 6 months apart so again this comparison is pointless.
If you like short games then by all means get all consoles since it is your money after-all, but for people like me who like games that can last many tens of hours owning multiple consoles is pointless since I would never have the time to play all the games I wanted to play.
Even those people who love on-line games may baulk at owning multiple consoles since they normally stick to one gaming community although that is not always the case.
I have the original backwards compatible PS3 and while PS2 games don't have the graphic goodness of a PS3 game the output is a bit like an up-scaled DVD which on may 55" HDTV still looks good and the gameplay has not changed. Of course I do have quite a backlog of PS3 games as well (Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Skyrim anybody).
I was going to get a PS4 if it was bundled with Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age - Inquisition and/or Dark Souls 2 but then again I can aff...
@zeuanimals
Yes I am still waiting for my flying car. Holograms on the other hand are here and have been here for quite a few years, just look at some credit cards, as for holo TV well we do have 3D HDTV which actually does work.
GB/sec download speed? Maybe in laboratories but most places are lucky to get 4MB/sec and that would be in fist world countries and only in cities. Most of the world if they have access to the internet would be very lucky to get spe...

If you have what is called an "in-house" network then you can have a centralised computing system such as lite dumb and graphical (eg X Terminals) displays. Of course that "in-house" network better be fast otherwise people won't like using it.
Go into any commercial establishment and you will see a mixture of displays and most of these are accessing software (eg databases) that is connected to centralised servers.

For price, capacity and performance the best HDD is a 3.5" 6TB (at the moment) drive although if you want the drive to be internal you are limited to a 2.5" 2TB max (at the moment) drive. Obviously for the best performance you would want a 7200 rpm drive compared to a 5400 rpm drive and the price difference between the two speeds is not that much.
Before anyone pipes up with "But Solid State Disks" are so much faster". In answer, yes they are but the ...
That is difficult to predict since Halo (FPS), Forza (Racing) and Tomb Raider (Action/Adventure) are totally different genres and for many gamers they probably only like one specific category although there are exceptions.
Halo and Forza are XBox exclusives although they may be ported to the PC (Microsoft Windows OS) someday. Tomb Raider is a third party game that Microsoft would have to pay for the exclusivity (timed or otherwise) or at least have a hand in the development c...
Rather a fan-boyish comment.
Personally I have no interest in FPS's or Racing although I don't mind Tomb Raider since it is Action/Adventure and have liked the franchise since one which I still have and can play it on my PS3 (all PS3's can play PS1 games).
I like many people here can wait and considering I do like games that can take many tens of hours to complete I have enough games that I still play to last me many many months.

Basically it all boils down to what the gamer wants. If a gamer likes first person shooters and have a Xbox or thinking of getting one then they would most likely go for Halo. If the gamer prefers Action/Adventure and have a PlayStation or thinking of getting one then they would go for Uncharted.
Personally I like A/A games with or without RPG elements and have no interest in FPS's so Uncharted would be the logical choice for me. I am quite sure there are other gamers who...
While I do have fond memories of play Secret of Mana I somehow don't think SoM2 would work since the original did have a proper ending. Of course they could have different characters and maybe call it Tales of Xillia or something like that :-)
I have played Oblivion and Skyrim and both are great games in their own right although if you don't set your major and minor preferences correctly in Oblivion very soon the game gets too difficult unless you use the difficulty slider to make the game ridiculously easy (not sporting IMHO). A level 10 fighter and a level 10 character is going to get clobbered in every encounter.
Skyrim on the other hand is IMHO has more of a traditional levelling system.
Hi...
Personally I prefer job classes and the ability to generate a character male/female and even non-human. Crafting magical or even physical items is also quite interesting with it's own challenges than just buying armour/items/spells/weapons at a town.
Still when I do get to play TW3 at some time I most likely will enjoy for it own right rather then trying to compare it against other games.
Of course newer RPG games should be much better however I do feel y...
For me one of my Skyrim builds was 200 plus hours on expert and I have hardly touched the main quests (I have all DLC). Once you can do a double enchantment on either Dragon or Daedric artefacts, weapons and armour the game becomes almost ridiculously easy so it is usually best to increase the difficulty which is very easy to do.
Note: Decreasing the difficulty, especially "on the fly" would be IMHO cheating. Still you can do it if you want although most Skyrim Adve...
If you have the original "FAT" PS3 which can play PS2 games then you have a host of PS2 games to play as well. Even on my 55" HDTV PS2 games via my PS3 still look graphically pleasing and the game-play is still the same. A bit like an up-scaled DVD IMHO, some look excellent some not so good.
Unfortunately PS1 games which all PS3's can play look fairly grainy on a large screen HDTV so if you want to play them get a small screen HDTV which you can purchase fa...
