Well the writing was on the wall when Bluray disks and high definition games appeared on the scene. If we do the sums the approximate data on the disks (assuming single sided at 4.7GB and full) we get 32.9GB which would easily fit on a one double sided Bluray disk.

Of course we could go one better and assume they used double sided DVD's which would come to 65.8GB and while this would not fit on a 50GB Bluray you have to take into account what data is really on those DVD&#...

100 to 200 hours without any DLC that is fantastic for an RPG which puts it on the same footing with Skyrim.

I have the Skyrim Legendary eddition and have played well over 100 hours and have hardly touched the main quest and only just dabbled with the other 3 add-ons.

Personally I don't have a PS4 yet and am hoping for an RPG bundle containing Bloodborne, The Witcher 3 and possibly Dark Souls 2 and/or Dragon Age - Inquisition. I am willing to wait until t...

Err that was from Demon's Souls in the first area of the Shrine of Storms. Ok there is one giant crow in Dark Souls that you can trade with later on in the game but it is very useful for flying you to the Undead Asylum and back.

I don't think comparing map sizes of Skyrim and Xenoblade is a major defining factor since it is only one attribute, you also have to look at the content as well. In Skyrim and also Oblivion you have different guilds and their quests as well as the ability to change and enhance weaponry, armour and spells as well as your status and skills.

While I can't speak for Xenoblade it is possible to play over 100 hours in Skyrim and hardly touch the main quest. When you have a...

Actually in Skyrim and also Oblivion there were some quests that you needed to swim underwater. To do this you can use an item, spell, potion or the Argonian build. Of course you can take the chance hoping for a short underwater swim but it is a big chance.

In Dragon's Dogma swimming was a sure way to die or end up some way down the river.

My son and I did try the original Bioshock and while the game is good we found ourselves becoming bored too quickly for my liking.

Not sure why my son and I lost interest but I prefer games like Oblivion, Skyrim and the Souls series and have put hundreds of hours into them. Maybe it's the Sci Fi setting but then again I did like the first Dead Space and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I think you are right with regard to the backtracking but I have also played...

I would not mind a remastered Skyrim for the PS4. On the PS3 the game still looks great but does suffer from slowdown and the odd freeze (rare but does happen).

One thing anyone that wants to play Skyrim on the PS3 needs or should know is that when your saves exceed 6 MB you really need to turn off all auto saving and save manually from then on. You very quickly learn to manually save when you come into a dangerous situation especially after you loose a few hours of game-pla...

If I am reading those charts right none of those cards can really do 60 fps @ 4k (3,840 x 2,160) resolution although the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 8GB does come close for a paltry $999.95 (Amazon.com)

Actually from what I can gather there are only six cards (including the one I mentioned above) that can actually do 30 fps and over.

So unless you are willing to spend the money on a good graphics card 4k gaming (at least for Bioshock Inf...

The so called power of remote computing service (aka the cloud) can act as an adjunct to the processing power and storage capabilities of the XB1 but then again it can also do the same thing to any computer or console that can connect to the machines that provide the services.

what the "cloud" can not do is actually increase the physical capabilities of the actual machine such as CPU, memory and GPU . Anyone who thinks otherwise I suggest taking a diploma or better ...

That was a tech demo were all things are controlled. In the real world we have a nasty thing called latency and not all gamers have a high performance Internet, some don't even have an Internet.

In case you are interested I have seen tech demos in the 1980's and even up to today that were impressive but totally useless in a real life scenario.

You honestly believe Microsoft is working on the hardware that it essential for the so called Cloud computin...

And what is a demanding PC game? I can't agree or even disagree with a throw away like like that.

It is possible you may see more games that use the Kinect, however if those games don't sell well game producers will switch to more conventional games that will make them money.

The problem of coming up with the right ways to put voice recognition and gestures into a game is quite complex and like any game you are going to have people who like it and those that don't. That ratio of likes and don't like is what designers of games look at. At the moment the "d...

Somehow I don't think we are going to see a Minority Report GUI any-time soon. Basically it does look impressive until you really look at how impractical it is.

The concept of the Kinect is nothing new but how to use it that is the question. Gestures and voice recognition immediately spring to mind but even then you have limitations.

Let's take gestures first. Having something recognise gestures is interesting and does have some practical uses especi...

I am waiting on the release of The Witcher before purchasing a PS4 but I would like to see Bloodborne, Darks Souls 2 and possibly Dragon Age - Inquisition being part of the bundle.

Still I have lots of games on my PS3 to tide me over and have even restarted playing Demon's Souls (Damn that game is addictive). Not only that I have put in well over 100 hours into Skyrim and have hardly touched the main quests. I am definitely holding off attempting to restart Dark Souls.

I like mustard however there are certain mustards and brands that I love and others that to me are not that appealing.

I think this sums up how players like or dislike similar games.

@Spinal

It looks like you like Action/Adventure RPG's with hack & slash which is what Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 are, however you can also add an additional category to Bloodborne and that is "Survival Horror" which (I assume here) The Witcher 3 does not have.

Actually I do agree with your statement and I would add that even though some games do fall into the major category or genres that you or I like there maybe something that you do not...

Bloodborne like the Souls series is Action/Adventure RPG with a "hack and slash" component. If a gamer does not like that genres then they will most likely not like that game. Even if a player does like that particular genres they may not like the unforgiving but fair difficulty preferring something more easier.

You definitely can't please everyone especially those who don't like a challenge in a particular genres. Still they are entitled to their opinion, h...

In the Souls series you did not have to use magic and against a player who is fairly good with shield and weapons in the game a magic user even at higher levels stands little or no chance. The exception were the Pyromancy hand flame and the Priest knock-back spell since they activate in less then a second however you have to be very close to your attacker.

Sure a hit with a powerful spell can be an one-hit kill but it takes time to release and in the interim a fighter can be ...

What (sarcasm on) you can't diss Halo.

An interview with a rabid Xbox fanboy:

I. "What is the best game on the Xbox?"

FB. "Halo!"

I. "Great, now what is the second best game on the Xbox?"

FB. "Halo!"

I. "Err Ok" (getting nervous), "now what is the third best game on the Xbox?"

FB. "HALO!"

Actually some Angry Birds mini-games can be very hard when trying to get all three stars or even finding the hidden (sometimes in plain sight) icon. This is were you need skill and patience or even to think of unusual ways of doing things.

I will agree that normally getting the first star is stupidly easy or just a little difficult.
