LOL If you want to watch movies it is usually best to put them on a portable drive and then use your PS3 to play them. Less embarrassment if you need to get your machine serviced and also very practical since 2.5" portable 1TB drives are fairly cheap. ;-)

Unfortunately you really have to be careful with CD's and DVD's since they don't have the Protective coating Blu-ray disks have.

Personally I have found that rented DVD's, movies or even games usually are scratched. It appears most people have no idea or don't care how to handle DVD's or CD's for that matter.

I have only purchased one second hand Blu-ray game that had a small nick in the printed surface which rendered the game unp...

The only time my original PS3 sounds like a jet is when I play Wizardry (PS2) since that was on CD not DVD. All my other PS1/PS2 games play fine and I hardly get any disk noise.

Ah that brings back memories. I still have my original PS1 and after a few years I did have to turn it upside down although that was fine since I got a PS2 within a week of having to do that.

What was even stranger was my PS2 started to have problems when I had just purchased a first release PS3 and that one is still working fine.

As for my PS1 well that is gathering dust since all PS3's can play PS1 games so there really is no need for it.

@ChiefPuffsAlot

The Souls series being a ripoff of the King's Field series? Well if that's the case then all RPG's are a ripoff of the classic Dungeons and Dragons games.

The King's field series was played in first person perspective and you could only play as one person while the Souls series and Bloodborne are third person perspective and you create your character.

With regard to the King's Field games I have only playe...

Looking at the choices and picking one really depends on the genres you like. For instance those who like racing would pick Grand Turismo, likewise those who like shooters would pick SOCOM or possibly Metal Gear Solid.

It would be better to choose for different genres but then again that may be too complicated.

Having to micro manage everything is not what I would call fun, nor is in the case of active turn-base not being able to have some sort of fine control. Even Action RPG's can be a pain to play if all you are doing is mashing buttons. This applies to both Western and Japanese RPG's.

What is important in all RPG's is how the control is implemented. Too much one way or the other and the game becomes frustrating to play. A balance is always needed.

There is an old saying. "If it's too good to be true, it is". I also think that. "There is a sucker born every minute".

It is unfortunate or possibly even criminal that a game like Star Citizen has so much potential, especially with so much money being raised (ie. potential) and so little to show for it (ie. criminal or poor business practice).

I Could be wrong about criminal practices here but I don't think so, although that doe...

I didn't think patents on mathematical concepts were allowed but knowing what the state of the patent system is like I would not be surprised.

Next people will be trying to patent techniques for using a swing or breathing.... Oh wait!

Yes there are alternatives, however the Havok tools and libraries are still very popular with gaming developers so the licenses fees now find their way to Microsoft. This in itself is not a bad or illegal thing.

In some respects Microsoft has now made itself a target since many companies will now look to see if Microsoft uses this purchase to leverage an advantage over other platforms the Havok tools support.

Of course if an unfair advantage is detected then ...

>> It would have sold so much more on PS4

I think all anyone can say to that is maybe.

Personally I like the R&C series and I did like how R&C Tools of Destruction leads into R&C A Crack in Time. However for some reason I have not played any later release R&C games since.

Looking at the gameplay of Sunset Overdrive strongly reminds me of R&C since (to me) the game's central character looks like a re-skinned Ratch...

Two terabyte should be enough for everybody, until the next increment in disk size appears.

There is a rule in the IT industry. No matter how big a disk and it's file-system users will always find a way to fill it.

For some reason users don't seem to understand the word "house-keeping". Sigh!

If Sony is making a loss on the Vita then yes they probably should probably drop it, however I have not heard they are making any losses and even though it does not sell like the 3DS sells it still sells.

Besides unless you are part of the Sony decision making process I doubt Sony management are going to listen to you.

From the article:

He talked about the ground realities of the business that was now being over run by Apple and Google Mobile...

If the game is enjoyable, price within reason does not come into it although I am definitely not a must buy on release person. I always look at the reviews first and then make a decision.

I have Tales of Xilla and while I do think it is a good game I can can only play it in short bursts since my hands ache after only an hour of playing. There is definitely allot of button presses in the fighting and I am thinking seriously of dropping it.

I don't have any problems paying the Souls games or even other action RPG's such as Skyrim, even Action/Adventure games I can play for hours without any discomfort.

I thought of getting Tales of Xilla...

For any RPG that I enjoy playing I would say the base minimum is 30 hours and I don't care if I spend 100's of hours as long as I am enjoying it. Sometimes I don't really care to finish the game since to me it actually spoils any replay value.

Currently playing Skyrim and I have spent over 130 hours but have hardly touched the main quests (I have the legendary edition) and I am still finding new places. The only faction I actually have completed is the Wizard'...

There is not all that much of a difference between so called JRPG's and WRPG's. Basically you can have turn-base, active turn-base and action and all RPG's have one or more of these fighting styles.

Normally RPG drawing styles are Cartoony or semi photo realistic, however some JRPG's go for what is called anime style drawing and I think it this style that many Western players erroneously associate JRPG's with.

Even anime drawing styles can...

The game may do well in in the US and the UK but as for Japan even if Microsoft pays for localisation it will barely sell 50k and that is assuming pretty much everyone who purchased an XB1 there goes out and buys it.

@TheTwelve

Show me a company that does not care about sales unless well compensated and I will show you a company that will go bust.

Why would the PS4 need software that only works with ESRAM and DDR3?

I would assume that any software would be compiled and linked to the appropriate libraries that are supported by the devices that will run said software.
