It is incredibly easy to change a user's name on Unix, Linux and even Microsoft systems all that is needed is to make sure the new name is associated with the user's ID which is a unique number across all systems that a user may have access to.

Because of security concerns no company should allow a user to change their own name although they normally can change their personal details. A System administrator can change a user's ID however they still have to follow...

Since all PS3 games are region free you could probably import that game from Europe or even Hong Kong. I would assume the game has English as one of its dubbed languages.

Not sure what the price for delivery is but it would not be hard to find out, although it may be more appropriate to wait till the game is released in America.

A remaster makes money for the developer and publisher. Backwards compatibility makes little if any additional money for the developer and publisher.

Backwards compatibility is great for getting people who have a previous generation console with games to make the switch. Sure there would be some who brought a new BC console who buy a last generation game but in most cases it would be a second hand one.

As I have said before BC is a system seller at the start ...

Yes the XB1 did reasonably well in the USA and actually beat the PS4 but in world wide console sales the PS4 still sold more.

Basically the HDTV market is predominately 1080p Full HD so it makes perfect business sense to target that demographic.

4k UHD TV's are becoming more and more popular and they will upscale 1080p content however as I have said they are far more 1080p FHD TV's out there.

8k UHD will be out about mid 2016 and may only be anything from 10% to 30% (anybody know?) more than their equivalent 4k UHD TV's. If the price differential between 4k and 8k is sma...

Most HDTV's have an aspect ratio of 16:9 so 720p is 1024x720 pixels, 1080p is 1920x1080 pixels (known as FHD), 2160p is 3840x2160 pixels (known as 4k UHD) and 4320p is 7680×4320 pixels (known as 8k UHD).

Actually it is a bit more complex than what I have just said but for most TV's that will do. Once you change the aspect ratio from 16:9 the horizontal pixel count changes.

Basically 1440p is reserved for monitors.

As far as 4k na...

Well people pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars for HDTV's and sound systems so say $300 to $500 for the PSVR depending on the bundle is not that hard to swallow.

You should know that a VR headset is not just for VR games it can also be uses as a personal large screen HDTV for movies and standard TV shows.

Cooking shows can be augmented with VR however most people once they learn to cook are quite comfortable with recipe guidelines.

Basically a VR headset can be used with games particularly the part that requires head tracking or it can be used as a private virtual large screen HDTV that can view anything a large screen HDTV can display.

Like any device which interacts with our human senses such are vision and hearing you have to consider safety such as no wavi...

If you are playing a VR game then the camera is essential for head tracking, however if you are playing a normal game or watching a movie then you have effectively a virtual large screen HDTV.

Where do you think video games should be played?

Please think about it. A VR headset pretty much shuts out most outside contact and to do this safely requires the player to be in an environment where they should not be physically at risk and not pose a risk to others.

Think VR as a mobile phone on steroids and you should be able to see the safety issues.

If not please take that mobile phone from your ear and watch where you are going there i...

Sony never removed backwards compatibility from the PS3, in fact the only feature they actually removed was the "Other OS" because of security issues. Lets be honest here, how many people actually used this?

What Sony did do was to not include PS2 backwards compatibility in later releases of the PS3 and in addition not implement the card readers (who really needed this?) as well as reducing the 4 USB slots to 2. By doing this Sony was a...

The cheapest solution is to replace your 5400rpm disk with a 7200rpm disk, with the next best being a hybrid drive followed by a much more expensive SSD.

The actual cost differential between a 5400rpm disk and a 7200rpm disk is only a few dollars however the performance differential is 20% or more. It is a pity Sony don't give you the option of purchasing a PS4 with the faster drive especially since the cost difference is small.

Even hybrids have a cost...

The PS4 and the XB1 are basically PC x86-64 architecture and gaming companies have had many years to get their act together. It really is sloppy programming and poor Q&A.

3865d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

While I do agree, just how big are these patches going to be?

Unfortunately some gaming companies seem to have the attitude of ship early and patch later, if we feel like it.

Even on a PC you can get fairly long loading times if you have a poor performing disk. This is were SSD's really shine if you have the money. Also having separate disks for your OS (64GB SSD recommended), reasonable performance disk(s) for you main data and high performance disk(s) for your active game installs.

For the PS4 replacing the 5400rpm disk with a faster 7200rpm disk is a much cheaper upgrade although as with the PC an SSD is best but it is more expensive.

@cartoonx1

One of the main reasons for long loading times on Skyrim on the PS3 occurs when the autosave feature is turned on (this is the default). The fix is to turn off all autosaves except possibly the timed one.

The problem with doing as I have suggested means manually saving (think old school) so when Lidia says "I have a bad feeling about this" - save.

You can actually travel overland from one end of Skyrim to the other withou...

I don't have issue with DLC providing that adds to the game such as new new areas and quests. Some RPG's have this.

Micro-transactions can add cosmetic value to a game with new skins and are mainly aimed at stroking player vanity.

Pay to Win on the other hand is basically cheating although I am sure players that do this think they are smart even though they are paying for cheats to beat the game or other players by having an unfair advantage. In reali...

You really want to try it first before considering the price.

Very embarrassing if Sony sells for $200 and you find you can't use it.

Backwards compatibility is great if you have the odd nostalgia kick, however if you prefer Action/Adventure and RPG's like I do replaying is going to take many hours and as an example some RPG's can take hundreds of hours.

To replay all the RPG's I have and like would take me two to three years. Of course that would probably save me some money.

I have a backwards compatible PS3 that can display up to 1080p (most games are 720p though) on my 55&quo...

4k? is that all. You do know that 8k TVs and monitors are due out in 2016. I guess you will have to upgrade your graphics card again. :-)

Meanwhile console gamers can connect to their 8k TV's and it will upscale. Of course console gamers can use a VR headset as well (2016) and PC gamers can do the same eventually.
