All PS3's can play PS1 game disks so adding this capability to the PS4 would be a nice feature.
I do have an original PS3 that plays PS2 games as well and having the same capability on the PS4 would be another reason for me to purchase one.
As for BC for PS3 games it would be nice but because of the architectural differences between the PS3 and PS4 I doubt we will get an emulator.
It may be possible to get a PS3 image that is specifically...
Why is that a problem?
I suppose we could go the way Microsoft proposed where you require "always or nearly always on" and the end of second hand games.
Yes we all know how that panned out.
Basically if a game is good then people buy it and if it isn't then people don't buy it.
Oh this comment takes the cake:
"We did the research and noticed that a lot of players were having trouble jumping into the game for the first time, so we wanted to give people a weapon that was easily accessible and would give them a bit of a leg-up."
Great marketing speak.
Now let me translate. "If you suck at the game you can Pay to Win".
What you actually have to ask is why do people in Japan and also the rest of the world prefer gaming on smart phones in comparison to consoles?
Basically smart phones are used in communication when you are on the go and are great for some games when waiting or traveling. Hence there are many more smart phones than gaming consoles.
Consoles on the other hand are really designed for home use and are not suitable for people on the move or waiting whilst outside ...
I really like Action/Adventure and RPG's. From what I can see 2016 has plenty (in fact too much) for me to play and that is not including some previous years games such as the Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age Inquisition just to name a few and I have not got a PS4 yet.
I should get a PS4 within the next two months. Well there goes my spare time.
I don't have a PS4 yet but will most likely get one within the next two months since I am in the process of finishing most of the the PS3 games I own.
Once I get a PS4 I doubt I would contemplate getting a PS3 version of a PS4 game.
In Dark souls as are all Souls games for that matter you pretty much play as an individual and on occasion you can get up to two NPC and/or one on-line character to help with a particular area and of course the boss. In addition you could also be invaded by a black phantom (on-line character) for PvP except when fighting a boss. As for characters and story line it is fairly bare.
I really do like the Souls and even the King's Field series but the FF series and their stor...
Personally I liked the Gambit system of FF12 since you could easily fine tune how each member of your party reacted to all other members and to enemy encounters. I am well aware that some did not like the programming style that was required for efficient control.
In FF12 if the enemy was tougher than most or a boss then you could quickly switch to turn-based. You could also position your party around the area which can be very useful when confronting large creatures.
...
FF4 though FF6 were turn-based but you could switch to active turn-based whenever you wished. FF7 through FF10 where turn-based only.
Switchable turn-based and active turn-base were brought back in with FF12. FF13 and FF13-2 were basically active turn-based only but used similar concepts (although not as advanced) of party control that FF12 used.
For FF13 and FF13-2 the active turn-base and party control system was called the paradigms system.
How about using a similar combat system that FF4 through 6 and FF12 used which is turn based or active turn based, however you could switch between them very quickly.
FF7 was turn base only which is very useful when the enemy is more difficult but very boring when you have enemy which the party can dispatch fairly easy.
One thing I would really like to see got rid off is random battles although I have no issue with re-spawns. FF12 was the first off-line FF to...
The USB to micro USB cable is what is called a "passive" device. When you plug the USB cable into a charger and the micro USB into the controller then a circuit is made.
If the so called charger is not within the USB specs then it could damage the device that the cable is connected to.
Basically the so called charger did not conform to the USB specifications and damaged the controller. The issue has nothing to do with the USB cable or any passive ca...

Gasoline powered controllers? Well you do have the problem with noise as well as pollution not to mention the weight, but you could emulate rumble really well on one of these. It would be interesting to get gaming hours for one tank.
There is a major problem with a gasoline controller and that is you have to be very careful of the gaming police pulling you over and testing you for alcohol and other banned substances and don't get me stated on m...
Rather silly using a custom charger since the DS4 will charge from the PS4 even when it is on standby. It is possible the custom charger is more energy efficient than DS4 via cable to the PS4 while on standby although I have not done any testing. Anyone here who has?
For my DS3 I could use my PS3 to charge it but that would mean leaving it on although I could set the timeout on my PS3 to 2 hours.
For years I have been using my PC to charge my DS3 (takes about an hour) however I really need to pair it again which is not a big problem. On a whim I actually used my Sony HDTV usb slot and found I could charge my DS3 (about an hour) without the need to pair. This is now my favorite method of DS3 charging. This does not work on my son's Bra...

The original XBox was huge and it also had a large power brick which considering that the PS1 though PS4 never had was a bit of over kill and IMO (I am an Elec Engineer) poor design.
I do agree that the Gamecube was quite nice although I did not like the small power brick(should have been integrated IMHO) and some of the games were quite unique but it just could not compete against the PS2
As for the N64 I don't really have any complaint except for the controller which for all the games that I liked was hand cramping. The PS1 controller IMO was so much more comfortable.
As an aside the PS1 controller was more in the same line as the S...
Computing business rule: Never and repeat never allow users to change their user name. Allowing a user to change their personal details is usually quite acceptable.
Changing a user's name is simple for the System Administrator since that name has to appear across all machines that the particular user may have access to. The problem you may have is that some departments have different System Admin's and a name change would have to be coordinately across all systems. ...

Sony not thinking of a means of changing a user's name? You do realize that commercial computing has been around since the 1950's although we can go back further to military use. Maybe management is unaware or don't care but I do know all the people in IT are.
Changing a user's name is simple however the potential for abuse is huge. A way around this may be to charge say $10 to $20 for having your user name changed. At the very least this will make the particu...
I still have this and it does play well on my BC PS3 however I have the PAL version PS3 which uses a mixture of software and hardware emulation and not all PS2 games work fully.
With Star Ocean Till the End of time I get a fair way into the game and at one point he game freezes and I can't proceed past that point. Fortunately I can bypass that event, however a few hours later I need to go to a different area and each time I try the game freezes and I cannot proceed any fu...
