There are two major types of HDR (High Dynamic Range). The first being HDR10 which is a free format and is supported by pretty much all major UHD TV brands and the second is the proprietary Dolby Vision of which all manufacturers of UHDTV's have to pay a royalty to support.

BTW. There are other HDR's but the two I have mentioned are the most common.

Since Google has the Android operating system (Linux kernel) they could easily and cheaply bring out a console that could play pretty much all Android games of which there are tens of thousands to choose from. Digital downloading would not be a problem although streaming in some (ie. most) areas could still be problematic. This would be especially true if you take into account data caps which most if not all wireless service providers have.

Of course, it may be possible tha...

Streaming is dependent on a fast reliable internet connection between the content provider (aka Google) and the gamer, however, you also need to have some buffering such as a hard or solid state disk to reduce loading times of the actual game.

So far most of the world does not have a fast reliable internet connection which is dependent on the service provider, not the content provider.

Now if you are talking about digital downloads which will require the ...

Like "gamerzero" quite rightly pointed out "They cost more..." but if you get a 2.5" SATA drive you can replace your internal drive which allows you to just pick up your PS4, controller(s), power cord and HDMI cable and you are good for "gaming when you get there" without the extra baggage of an external disk drive.

BTW - The power cord and HDMI cable cost only a few dollars (don't be conned by expensive cables) if you forget to take t...

It does not matter if you have a PS4 or XB1 you cannot "game on the go" like the Nintendo Switch, however, because the PS4 and XB1 (especially the "s" and the "x") are relatively portable you can "game when you get there".

Not sure on the price of this external hard drive but it would most likely be a lot cheaper to just purchase a 2.5" 5TB portable drive and connect it via the USB port.

Could not agree more.

I don't have any issue with side quests in fact for me they can really add to the enjoyment of the game but in many cases, they can allow your character to level up to the point where the main campaign becomes a boring walkthrough.

You can get NPC or even online help in the Souls/Borne games which you could equate to normal difficulty. Of course, you also run the risk of being invaded but that is half the fun.

If you want to get into a Souls game try DARK SOULS™ II: Scholar of the First Sin (you can purchase it fairly cheaply now). Do the tutorial first and repeat (do this a few times to gain confidence) then head to Majula and up your levels (pay particular attention to stamina) then go to the "...

If you want to make the Souls and/or Bloodborne easier you can actually play with friends although if you are online you also run the risk of being invaded.

I just started DS3 and I would say that it is a combination of DS1, DS2 and Bloodborne.

BTW. In DS3 on the outside of Firelink Shrine, you can find a dead tree that bears a striking resemblance to the dead giant corpses of DS2. There is also a similarity to the cemeteries in Bloodborne.

Time to "git gud" again.

As long as there are games that are violent and/or controversial you are always going to have someone or group that has an agenda of demonizing those games. It is not just games but anything that certain people feel that offends their myopic and/or bigoted (I am trying to be nice here😛) perceptions and/or sensibilities.

@thorstein

You are quite right, the media now seems to follow their corporate masters. 2883d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

The problem you have with games such as the Souls/Borne that have an online component and the possibility of being invaded by other players is the fact that you can't pause the game or change its difficulty on the fly.

To reduce the difficulty of these games you can always upgrade your weapons, armour and overall stats. In addition, it is possible to get NPC or other player help if you are online but you do run the risk of being invaded. In Bloodborne, there is less cha...

The Souls/Borne games have interesting features in that you cannot pause the game nor can you change the difficulty settings although if you are aware it is possible to get NPC help or if you are online other player help although this is a double-edged sword since you can be invaded.

I know you were trying to be sarcastic but Fortnite is actually a free game and for the Switch, it is 2GB so it would easily fit on the internal storage (approx 26HB available).

Sure Fortnite on the Switch won't be as good as what you can get on the PS4, XB1 or the PC but it will still work and I am quite sure most Switch owners will be very happy playing the game.

You also have to consider that the Fortnite download for the PS4 and XB1 is approximately 9.25Gb compared to the 2GB download for the Nintendo Switch. Sure the Switch version of Fortnite won't have all the graphical features of the PS4, XB1 and even the PC but a 2GB download size for the Switch is small and will easily fit on the internal Storage of the Switch. 2891d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I do agree with what you said since I do exactly the same with a 120GB SSD for my system disk and a 3.5" 3TB HDD for my application disk.

Unfortunately for a console you really need to consider a 500GB preferably a 1TB and above SSD which are so much more expensive than an HDD. Still, if you want performance and cost is not a factor then an SSD is the way to go.

2891d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes and no since the overall performance of an SSD is co-dependent on the bus it is connected to.

Basically, most standard SSD's have a read/write performance of 500MB/sec to about 480MB/sec and if you look at most modern PC's they have SATA 3 or better busses which have a throughput of 600Mb/sec. This is pretty much on par with what the PS4pro and the XB1x can handle. Unfortunately, the PS4 and XB1 (includes the "s" models) have a SATA 2 bus which has a 3...

@GottaBjimmyb

Fortnite is an online only game so and you won't be able to pause the game which is not all that great for "playing on the go". Sure you could play Fortnite where you won't be interrupted and your mobile wireless network is working but where your wireless connection is spotty or nonexistent you are going to have problems.

Skyrim had first and third person perspective and you could switch between those modes on the fly.

Personally, when fighting in Skyrim I preferred third person perspective which is rather strange since I preferred the first-person perspective when fighting in Oblivian. Of course, other gamers would prefer different styles but at least in both games, you had the option.
