Try playing "The Witcher 3" or "Horizon Zero Dawn" or (cough!) Skyrim (just to name three) without using fast travel. Of course, it is possible not to use fast travel when playing the games I mentioned but the tedium of re-traversing the same terrain even with randomized enemies (even worse with the same enemies) can be very annoying and time-consuming.
You do know that Grandia was on the PS1 and Grandia 2 was on the PS2 right?
Grandia can be played on any PS3, PS2 or PS1, however, if you have the PS2 DVD that contains Grandia 2 you can only play that game on either a PS2 or the first edition PS3. Of course, this is rather moot if you don't have a disk containing Grandia 1 or 2 and/or you only have a PS4.
Note: I am well aware of the PC emulators for the PS1 (eg: ePSXe and PCSX) and the PS2 (eg. PC...

It depends what you mean by "off the shelf SSD's".
Some SSD's have write speeds of less than 25MB/s, although these are very old and in most cases are not made anymore. The norm for most SSD's is around the 500MB/s read and 480MB/s write speeds, however, there are some SSD's (M.2 type for example) that can have read/write of over 2GB/s and you can actually get these "off the shelf" as well although admit...
Backwards compatibility is very important at the start of a new console, however, after a year or two BC becomes less important, although this feature is still a great value add even though some people may not use it.
Of course, there are many people who still like to replay an older game especially when that game (this is subjective) has high replay value to that player. What is even more attractive is the possibility of the new console being able to smooth and upscale an ...
Personally, I found Grandia 2 (still have it) on the PS2 to be an excellent game.
Unfortunately even on the PS3 (FAT) with smoothing enabled the picture on a 55" HDTV is annoyingly pixelated although it is not that bad on a smaller screen.
Actually, I could not care less if Windows 7 (obsolete), 8 and 10 (current) never got updates since I don't use a Microsoft operating system on my PC's. I actually use Linux (the latest stable KDE Fedora 30 distribution) which has never let me down in over 20 years.
The only time I need to reboot is when I get the latest kernel and even then I make the decision when. For my PC a reboot takes about a minute and that entails logging back in again.

The PS4's OS allows for the background download of any updates and even software such as games that don't interfere with what the player is doing. Once the download is compleat the player is advised (they have to check their notifications) and then the player makes the decision when to install the update.
In the case of an operating system update, the PS4 will be rebooted, but like I said this has to be initiated by the player unless they have enabled the auto rest...
The Witcher 3 support 4K visuals and HDR https://www.digitaltrends.c... although there are some games that support HDR and not 4K. Of course, many games (usually indies) don't support 4K or HDR.
All PS4's support HDR if the particular game supports HDR (see the above URL). If you have a decent monitor/TV that supports 4K HDR then even a standard PS4 (depends on your dis...
On the PS4 the total size of "The Witcher 3" with DLC (version 1.62) is about 70GB. Somehow I don't think you can use the Switch's usable internal storage (approx 26GB) to put this game on, so you would have to purchase the game on a microSDXC or download the game to a 64GB (base game) or higher microSDXC if you want to purchase the DLC which IMHO is worth doing.
It will be interesting to see how much this game costs when compared to the PS4 and XB1 versio...
@sprinterboy
I do have a 31.5" HDR 4K monitor although I only have a standard PS4. What is more important for me is the fact that all PS4's support HDR if the particular game supports HDR (see the following link: http://www.pushsquare.com/n... ).
If a game supports HDR and you have an HDR 4k display your PS4 should detect that and enable HDR ...
Personally, I liked FFXII's gambits to control your party members although it is possible to use turn-based combat if IMHO you are a masochist since you get into hundreds/thousands of fights. Of course, when you face a tough enemy you do have the option of turn-based combat, or you can pause and reprogram your gambits. An interesting feature of combat was the ability to position your party members in the field (no other FF game allows you to do this)* and by doing this you can actually sw...
It may come as a shock but the Republicans have been in control of all houses from 2016 to January 2019 so it is a little difficult to blame the Democrats although I am quite sure most Republicans will. I hope you enjoyed your tax breaks that the Republican-controlled Congress pushed through that gave most of the so-called breaks to the top 1%.
As for KKK, David Duke is the current Grand Wizard and he currently looks upon himself as a Republican although to be fair he was D...
I think to date, Trump's golf trips have cost over US$100 million.
Type in Google "cost of Trump's golf trips to date". All newsgroups are covering this so don't say that I am biased.
A (very) simplistic example: Say you have a US$400 console shipped to the US from China and there is a 25% tariff applied. This requires the importer to pay an additional $100 so effectively the console price is now US$500 and that is before any markup and sale tax is applied. Basically, the consumer ends up footing the tariff, markup and sales tax.
I understand that the US farmers are hurting so they got a $6 billion bailout (Aug 2018), then as the trade war escalated thos...
If you want to play a simple game bring up Google and type the word "sociopath".
Having done that tick the appropriate boxes that best describes the person of interest. Why not call him/her "individual 1".😎
I am quite sure that some serious bribery^H^H^H^H^H^H^H err "lobbying" will be done so that the Xbox will not get tariffed or if it does not as much as the PlayStation.
Blast my backspace key is not working properly.😎
Err! Foxconn is a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company with its headquarters in Tucheng, New Taipei, Taiwan. A simple Google search will show this.
Note: Taiwan is an island off the coast of China but it is independent of China.
Somehow I get the feeling you don't have the slightest understanding of how a global economy works.
@indysurfn
What is really nice about HZD is the fact that it supports 4K with HDR.
Even though I have a standard PS4 all PS4's support HDR and I recently purchased a 32" HDR 4K monitor for my PC. What surprised me was the fact my PS4 detected my 4K monitor and selected HDR even though my PS4 outputted the game at 1080p. The result was IMHO nothing short of stunning compared to originally playing on an IPS 24" monitor.
While I don't have any issue with the N64 games I do have an issue with the controller.
I was never a fan of the NES controller which was IMHO too rectangular although it was possible to attach more comfortable grips. Then came the SNES which was a surprise for me in that the controller was quite comfortable in my hand. After that came the N64 controller and some games forced you to hold the central part which for me was very uncomfortable.
With the e...
