With Souls/Borne games you do need to "git gud" 😉 so you don't get killed as often. Of course when you do teleport between bonfires/lanterns then loading can be annoying but then again you should not do this very often.
@itsmebryan
I will agree that load times do not make a PC/console a beast although they do help significantly.
Yes, framerate and resolution are important especially in games that can make significant use of them, however, most TV's and especially 4K and 8K ones have a refresh rate of 60Hz unless you are willing to pay significantly more for ones with a higher refresh rate. For instance, my Sony 55" HD (ie. up to 1080p) TV has a refresh rate of 2...
I recently made a comment on Horizon Zero Dawn that playing on the highest difficulty forced you to excessively grind. Having said that I will admit I was wrong since I actually restarted on the highest difficulty and while you really have to work for weapon purchases I actually found that quite fun and surprisingly that difficulty allows you to pick up health items reasonably quickly (four different plants).
I originally thought the second top difficulty and the top diffic...
Personally, I found The Witcher 3 to have an excellent story and gameplay. Having said that IMHO the only way to play the game was on the "Death March (Very Hard)" difficulty and never change it even if you come up against tough enemies since you can always come back.
Basically, you are forced to invest in magic for the first couple of hours of the game then you have to make and use potions and oils, later as you advance in the game you should consider swordsmansh...

You are quite right a decent PC will cost much more than a PS4pro or XB1x, however like it or not if you want a 4K or even an 8K display (ie. Monitor or TV) then that cost will be separate. Of course for a PC you really have no choice but to get a monitor while a TV is a household purchase but the downside of the TV is the fact that it is normally a shared resource.
For those people that like to play a game for many hours, I hope you have a ...
The price of SSD's has dropped significantly over the last year and we still have over a year to go before the PS5 hits the market. I think 1TB is the sweet spot for the basic PS5 although 2TB or higher providing the price does not blow out would be preferable. Obviously, upgradability and expandability (external storage) are also important and if the SSD is something like an M2 SSD card then it is easily replaceable.
Note: M2 SSD cards normally connect to the motherbo...
With PC gaming, you can purchase the latest game that will work across a range of different specifications. Of course, if you have a lower spec PC that is supported by a particular game you won't be able to display all the games assets such as 4K/8K and a higher frame rate.
It is possible that the base PS4 will be able to play some PS5 games (obviously this needs to be confirmed) but as with PC's the better-specced PS5 and also the PS4pro will be able to display mo...
Try Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin since that supports 1080p @ 60 fps. IMHO it has the best tutorial of the Dark Souls series and it contains all DLC. In addition, on PSN, you can get it very cheaply.
You still need to "git gud" 😉 especially in the later stages but you do have some reasonable handholding at the beginning. Also, plenty of people are still playing this game (well over 200 million worldwide deaths and loving it to date) so you can get...
@sprinterboy
A 4K TV/monitor will only display up to 4K.
A version 2.1 HMDI cable will support up to 8K. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
8K is out now although it is not cheap when compared to 4K and 1080p.
What is important is the actual screen size the distance you view the screen and how good your eyes are.
Basically, all HD, UHD TV's and monitors will normally display content full screen at least up to the aspect ratio of the display device although some displays allow you to manipulate the aspect ratio which can look strange. Even 8K TV's and monitors will be able to do this so say you output a 720p (16:9 aspect) game, that display (if it is any good) will upscale accordingly.
As an example, I have a 32" 4K HDR monitor with two HDM and one PCI ports. My PC suppo...
I agree, but the question to ask is what type of games are these people playing?
That depends on the type of work you do and the city or town you live in. In addition, the type of game you play would depend on how long it takes you to commute.
Basically the only time you could play a game while commuting is when you are not actually walking or driving. You can but you may get a Darwin award for inattention. Of course, sitting down or standing up on a train or bus (yes I am aware of carpooling) is really the only time you may be able to play if you are n...
@kohox
You can now buy external SSD's although HDD's are still cheaper when comparing storage. Still, even if the PS5 has a 500GB SSD it would be possible to use the SSD for regulatory played games and the external disk with much larger storage for casual games although this would not please everyone.
You are right SSD's have dropped dramatically in price over the last few months an I would not be surprised if a 1TB or better SSD will be stand...
It's not quite that simple.
Assuming the SSD has a read/write of 6Gb/sec (see WDS500G2B0B 500GB M.2) and the motherboard supports that throughput (ie. SATA 3, now a relatively older bus) then your maximum loading speed will be about 6Gbps which is actually pretty good with respect to a hard disk (2.5") which could be in the order of 80MB/sec (approx 640Mbps) or better.
Basically, the SSD is so much faster than a hard disk drive usually by a facto...
Personally, I could not detect the differences in overall difficulty between the top and the second top difficulties so I switched to the second level of difficulty to avoid IMHO ridiculous levels of farming but I definitely agree that a reasonable amount of farming is fun.
I am assuming the $200 is USD. I live in Australia and US$200 translates to AU$285.47 and that is assuming there is no tariff on the controller which could be 10% or more. I can buy a brand new PS4 for just under AU$399 and that would come with one or two games.
"Lack of control over party members AI"?
I am unsure what you mean by that.
The Gambit system is basically programming in simple Boolean algebra such that you would prioritise recovering a fallen party member then curing a party member if their health falls below a certain percentage (eg 40% to 70%). In addition, you can program how each party member will attack the enemy keeping in mind that some party members may not have the weapons/magic to ...
I assume this is US dollars.
I got my (New) Bluray copy of FF12 The Zodiac Age for AU$15.00 (US$10.54) a few months ago. In Australia, the game for the Switch is about AU$80 (US$56) although I am quite sure you can get it cheaper if you wish to look around.
Still, if you want portability for a 30 to 80+ hour game than the Switch version is the way to go.
I fully agree.
I originally started HZD on the hardest difficulty and found that I had to basically grind which was annoying so I switched to the second hardest difficulty and that was excellent.
Now before people disagree, I got about 70% through the game on the second hardest difficulty and had a rethink so I restarted again on the hardest difficulty but this time I was more forgiving of what I originally thought was a grind and actually found the game ...
