I am not sure about Mad Catz since they have just shed 37% of their work force. See the following: http://www.gamasutra.com/vi...
Read into that what you may.
Sony can only give console numbers that are sold to retailers although if major retailers are willing to give out their customer sales numbers to a trusted analysis group t...
Quote "Lies damned lies and statistics".
With regard to consoles sales the only sure way to know is to be given the sales to the retailer which in hindsight is really easy since the vendor should know. Of course that is assuming that the vendor is not lying and is willing to give that information to an unbiased reporting group.
Err .. ok lets assume the vendor is willing to give out sales to retailers figures and we can really trust the vendor. Now ...
@Black0ut
Assuming VGChartz is not that accurate if you know of another site that give out statistical figures for console sales then I sure we would be all ears.
Collecting information from all sources over time and creating a graph is fairly straight forward and pretty much dead accurate. The problem is that it is ridiculously time consuming to do this so the most efficient way is to collect a sample and extrapolate on that sample. Of course this does lead ...
Why on earth did you even ring Nintendo support when it would have been obvious that the issue could have been resolved by taking the product back to where you purchased it from. Even gifted products can be returned providing you can prove purchase.
Of course if you can't prove purchase with a receipt or you are out of warranty then I guess you are up for the cost of repair or replacement.
You are spot on. Even though I do have an Intel 4 Core i7-6700 (not the "k" model) and the latest Z170 motherboard update I find that I can easily go into turbo mode which is 4GHz (should be 3.4GHz). Fortunately it is capped and I can't go any higher otherwise my Intel heat sink may not cope with the heat generated.
Actually the recommendation when you do a BIOS update is to reset to the default settings and only change what you need to change. I kept the defaul...
You are quite right the Intel 6 Core i7-5820K does support 12 threads while the 4 Core i7-6700 and 4 Core i7-6700k only support 8 threads. Of course you are going to pay more for the performance improvement and if you don't have a Z170 motherboard you will not be able to use it.
If you are building a new machine then there would not be any issue except for cost but if you are upgrading you will need to replace not only your processor and motherboard but possibly your memo...
The article is mainly about ASRock and other Z170 motherboard manufactures releasing BIOS updates that allow none "K" Skylake processors to be over-clocked.
Personally I have no issue with people who like to over-clock however if the processor is damaged is Intel really libel to replace that processor?
I do have a Skylay Core i7-6700 processor and have no interest in over-clocking however I would not be impressed if as a result of the latest BIOS up...
With the Skylake processor the "k" model allows for over-clocking. If you chose to over-clock a non "k" model processor and it is damaged then Intel should not be under any obligation to replace or refund on the processor.
Taking a car analogy it is possible to by a normal non turbo car and install a turbo however you may find that your car is now not roadworthy and if your engine is destroyed you won't have any comeback with the manufacturer even if t...
You are quite right Intel like any company can dictate it's own terms however because they are a company and reliant on customers they better listen otherwise their customers will drop support for them.
Personally I can't see the problem with Skylake users from over-clocking devices which are not meant to be over-clocked. If the device is damaged through over-clocking then Intel is under no obligation to refund or replace.
If the Z170 motherboards al...
I have the latest Skylake i7-6700 which is not the one you can over clock although after the latest BIOS update I found that I can easily ramp my processor to 4GHz (turbo mode) even though the maximum base clock frequency has always been 3.4GHz. On average my clock frequency is around 800MHz when idle.
I don't seem to have any over-heating issues even though I am actually using the supplied cooling assembly. The highest core temperature I have reached is 70 deg C peak and...
The Witcher 3 was a 35GB install, however a 17GB patch (ie. the latest) brought that upto 49GB.
Actually I am not that overly worried about a minimum install size even if it is 50GB. What is annoying is having huge patches when smaller delta patches or updates should be used.
Your your information a deta patch (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... is one or more patches or updates th...
For the PS4 you can normally play the game within a minute or two when installing from BluRay but the full install takes longer and is dependent on your storage write and the read from your BluRay device, whichever is the slower.
A good rule of thumb is to assume a 25GB/sec write to your hard disk then divide your install size by this and 60 which will give you the time in minutes to complete. As an example it would normally take about 33 to 40 minutes to fully install a 50GB...
That is great if you don't have any caps on your Internet use.
Personally I prefer installing off physical media. Even for a 50GB game usually takes less then one hour to fully install although as I have mentioned previously with the PS4 you can be playing within a minute or two.
No matter how fast your internet is you are normally going to be limited by the storage device (ie. Hard Disk) write speed and for a 5400rpm disk that is about 22MB/sec although ...
Expiration be it PC or console depends on support.
Let's stick to PC's as an example. When a game is developed for PC's the developer normally comes out with a minimum and preferred specification for that game to run. If your PC does not support the minimum requirements then that game will most likely not run or run poorly. You either have to upgrade your PC or get a new one.
Say as an example you wish to upgrade your older PC to the latest Skylak...
The Microsoft Azure servers are basically virtual machines not dedicated physical servers. Obviously you need physical machines to run any computing service, however it is so much more cost effective and efficient to run multiple virtual servers on a reasonably powerful computer rather than have one physical machine for each server.
One of the features of using virtual machines is load and application balancing such as new server being started if the load on the other servers...
You don't need dedicated servers for any game, all you need are virtual servers that are capable of handling the requirements of particular games.
You could have a mix of virtual machines for multiple games with the number of virtual machine being increased or reduced depending on requirements. Of course there would be a maximum of how many virtual machines you could run and this would be dependent on the performance of the physical computer.
It is not co...
Lets keep things in perspective here. The XB1 does not provide backwards compatibility it provides emulation that will allow you to play XBox360 games.
I won't deny that having the capability to play previous generation games either by backwards compatibility or by emulation is a great value added feature however providing this two years down the time track looses it's console selling feature than what it would have done at the initial onset.
@Errorist76
While I do agree in principle with what you said there are issues. As an example I could play The Witcher 3 within a few minutes of putting my disk in, then I had to wait four hours to install a 17GB patch since that had to be digitally downloaded.
I have also had the same convenience (fast initial play) but long digital patch download for other games, although to be fair the download could always be preformed in the background so as not to interf...
Well The Witcher 3 with the latest patch is over 49GB, Dragon Age - Inquisition is over 48GB and Bloodborne is over 36GB. There are other games out there that are even bigger.
Since the Division is supposed to have RPG features I assume that this game will have many hours of playability so unless you are one of those people who really need to have all games available immediately it is may only be necessary to keep those games you regularly play on your hard drive while deleti...
For the PS4 you can get speeds up to 1000Mb/sec on the PS4 if you use the rj45 (ie. wired) connector. The wireless spec of the tha PS4 is 2.4GHz a/b/n which gives you a max theoretical network speed of 72.2Mb/sec.
Check out the following URL for more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
So the WiFi of the PS4 is dodgy when it meets International Standards of which most countries, ...
