Yes the Wii did sell over 100 million but most third party developers abandoned it. It must also be remembered that the Wii was standard definition only when the other two consoles supported Full (ie. up to 1080p) High Definition.

A nice dream maybe but it is still a dream.

Actually on both my PS3 and PS4 I have more multi platform games than I have exclusive games. I predominately play RPG's and Action/Adventure and have little if any interest in on-line only games so even if I get a multiplatform game I know I am going to get (depends on game though) good value for money.

Actually "Pay to Win" is IMHO more insidious although micro-transactions are close. Unfortunately this is a trend that seems to be accelerating and the main fault lies with the people who support this.

"So if exclusive games do not matter why is Linux or other OS's in the PC not get very many for the longest time! How about Microsoft release its PC platform OS and make it open source and its DirectX Api open to Linux free?"

Hmm! how to answer this.

Desktop Linux users do actually number in the tens of millions world wide and I am not counting Android users who's numbers are over a billion.

Go into any retailer of PC's ...

For Sony to bring out their exclusives that were on the PlayStation for the PC running Microsoft Windows would be effectively supporting Microsoft.

What I would like to see them do is bring out their exclusives to SteamOS and Linux only since Linux users do number in the tens of millions, although I do think that would be a cold day in Hell if that happened.

@XiKurapikaKurta

I was going to state that the PS4 and even the XB1 are not three years old although you could say they are in their third year.

What's with the disagrees to your statements, can't some people count.

For those that disagree the release date of the PS4 was November 15, 2013 in North America, then November 29, 2013 in Europe, South America and Australia. This is basically two years and a little over two months.

If you connect to Steam and look at the number of games you can play natively under SteamOS and Linux, they are slowly but surely increasing.

I am pretty sure Steam realises that Microsoft wants them sidelined although not out of business since that may bring Microsoft unwanted litigation so the three E's (Embrace, Extend and Extinguish) still apply but carefully.

@animalia

I won't deny that Microsoft owns the Desktop OS market but the mobile market is dominated by Android (Linux kernel) at 83% and to a lesser extent by IOS (Apple's Operating System) at 14%. Microsoft's share of the mobile market is only about 2.6% (see the following: http://www.idc.com/prodserv...

For super computers Linux just dominates, hardly an...

So does my PC but I don't run a Microsoft OS on mine I run Linux (Fedora 23 if you are interested) which can also run many MS Windows based games as well although rarely the latest ones.

Still if I want to play the latest PlayStation games I do have a PS4 and backwards compatible PS3 that can do just that.

DX12 will only be supported under Microsoft Windows 10, hence the push (force more likely) to get PC users that run MS Win 7, 8, 8.1 to upgrade to MS Win 10 for free.

For people who build their own PC they do have the option of installing MS Windows and/or putting another operating system on which predominately would be a Linux distribution.

The downside for a home PC builder is if they want a Microsoft OS they have to pay for it or pirate it. With Linux it i...

Admittedly the dominate platform support for Steam is Microsoft Windows, however I have been noticing many more games (usually older ones though) supporting SteamOS and native Linux distributions.

Steam is well aware that Microsoft is slowly trying to destroy them hence the push for games that will run on other operating systems.

I do agree that many people who purchase a PC will get a Microsoft operating system included in the price.

It is a totally different story if you build your own PC.

Basically on a home built PC if you want a Microsoft operating system or pretty well Microsoft anything you have to purchase the right to install the software, unless you want to pirate the software which could get you a steep fine or jail time if you are caught.

My PC is on par w...

Well Bungie did do the Halo games as well as quite few other shooter and tactics games so I would have been surprised if they did not get the gun-play right.

Sorry my mistake the Wireless spec on the PS4 is 2.4GHz b/g/n

3751d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

The PS4 wireless network conforms to IEEE 801.11 2.4GHZ b/g/n specification.

3751d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

For some that may not be possible. Of course money does speak if you are willing to pay.

If your microwave causes interference then I would seriously get it checked out unless you don't mind increasing you and your families' risk of cancer later in life.

I have a 1000W microwave and I never get interference when it is switched on.

An Ethernet cable can get speeds up to 1000Mb/sec while the wireless (2.4GHz b/g/n) can only reach speeds up to 72.2Mb/sec.

What will be your main problem with performance will be your network connection path and this is something outside of your control, so contact your ISP if you feel you have performance issue. I do suggest you run some tests first and you can find network speed tests site near to you.

I use the standard wireless connection of my PS4 to my Netgear router and get around 60~70Mb/sec which conforms to the 2.4GHz "n" standard. If I connect via cable then I can get upto 1000Mb/sec.

It is very important to realise that total network throughput is dependent on all devices in your network path and that includes the Internet and the host machine(s) you are getting your PS4 to talk to.

Network performance is also time dependent such as you ...
