I don't think they rushed it (BluePoint, that is). They probably wanted to avoid a MCC-type fiasco, while also offering the Uncharted 4 beta (maybe there would have been some issues there with the MP inclusion).
Whatever the case, I can feel people on both sides of this fence. My only disappointment is Uncharted 2's multiplayer absence!
Lulz, then if you're sure it will be a long game, I don't know how you drew the conclusion that you did! :P
Besides, to some, 6 hours will be long enough for a game like this. It has plenty of replay value.
@ uptownsoul: Indeed, though I'll take it a step further. They not only survived, the PS4 has completely wiped the gains made by the Xbox One, thus far, in 2015. Also, unlike last year, Sony has some MASSIVE partnerships (COD and Battlefront are nothing to scoff at). Yes Destiny was big, but not THAT big and not in the holiday months.
Those two alone will make sure the PS4 remains competitive, regardless of a price cut.
MS "triggering" their own price cut probably won't matter much. Once the PS4 has its first, things will continue in Sony's favor. Besides, MS already being $50 cheaper hasn't really done much to sway the gap, so why would a return to price parity have an even bigger impact?
Next, in regards to investors, it is Microsoft that would likely have issues. I imagine that SCE is in a healthy enough position to cut the price, as they continue to profit on the sy...
A 6 hour game with LOTS of endings. That said, I'm not sure how you even calculated that. Best to wait for more info in the coming weeks.
OT: Like Heavy Rain, I expect to thoroughly enjoy this game! I love that there are so many outcomes/possibilities!
"Upping" frame-rates and resolutions are EXACTLY what help make a Remaster. The original source material is being "remastered" for a superior piece of hardware. So, yes, they're ports, but with improved assets, and thus, are Remasters.
In regards to Gears Ultimate and The MCC, they're no different than the Uncharted Collection. Remasters. Ratchet and Clank is a Remake, meaning, completely built from the ground up for a new machine.
As you can see, complaining is what some will do regardless of evidence in front of them. Just take such terms like "cashgrab". The argument wasn't whether you find it WORTH IT to re-buy a game. It's about what the definition of a Remaster is.
Still, good to see that people like you understand what's what, here.
You have things quite mixed up. Remakes are not ports. They are Remakes. Also, what you described for Gears, Halo, and Tomb Raider is exactly what we've gotten (are getting) with TLOU, Uncharted Collection, and Metro: Redux. They're all ports from last gen source material, but with Remastered assets (the degree of the remastered material isn't really the debate, either - a remaster is a remaster).
The only Remakes I've seen announced are Ratchet and Clank and ...
It originally referred to sound. A "remaster" of an original recording.
These days, it is exactly as it states for video games, too. It's not just some fancy rhetoric. Of course they're ports, but unlike a traditional port, these are increasing the quality of the original material. So, higher resolutions, textures, characters, etc, etc... and thus, you have a Remaster.
The problem with some folks, though - they go into a Remaster expecting a...
It's even more embarrassing when a few of those fans continue to try and place definitions around, even if they don't know what they mean, and/or, they're attempting a deflection.
One should note, "AAA" refers to the budget, not critical reception or personal opinion. That leaves the PS4 with quite a bit more games of that nature released/to be released in 2015. Another fact, the PS4 is ahead. Far ahead. Opinion: it will take more than Halo and Forza to ...
That's the problem with discussing these things (especially with a certain someone here who claims to be bipartisan). No point, definitions get thrown around. When the article discusses comeback, they specifically mean sales, not some game line-up (which, funnily enough, I don't see a massive difference in the console's library for the Fall). But, that's just me. Strictly an opinion. That said, I feel like you and LeCreuset are spot on!
Fact - PS4 will remain ...
"To be fair, this is a site normally flooded with positive press for Sony, and typically a larger emphasis on negativity towards MS."
- This just tells me that you either wren't here at the beginning of last gen or didn't care to acknowledge the climate then.
ANYWAY, on topic, these games already looked fantastic, so this extra bump in quality is icing, as we wait for Uncharted 4.
Um, you realize this was a POSITIVE preview, correct? Everything you say is "bad" is exactly what the game was aiming for, as the article points out.
Indeed. Completely missed the point. In fact, it seems a lot of them have, in here (judging by some of the comments). When you say The Last Of Us isn't an emotional experience, you know it's time to step away from the keyboard.
OT: Great read. They definitely a magic that's similar, no doubt!
It's a dupe? Well then. And I remember seeing Bloodborne listed for the PC from EB as well. As I said above, likely an error.
And that assumption still holds weight until a confirmation of otherwise. I imagine Sony is involved with the development in some way. If that's the case, the PS4/PC theory is likely the correct one.
I doubt pre-orders would even go up for a platform other than PS4, since it's coming first to it. And that duration could be anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. Square released a statement saying they wanted to push a significant amount of PS4 units. This would hinder that, to a degree.
Thus, this is likely an error.
I read the article and only saw a hint of PlayStation exclusive characters.
@ Satyre: Yes, a sales lead means much less incentive from Sony to receive these types of deals. That's always how it's been. The PS1 and PS2 saw similar things and it wasn't always because Sony whipped out a blank check.
The solution to what seems like a personal issue is simple - buy a PS4.
And you are the type of person Sony is generally selling this to. The Uncharted veterans are definitely in the right to gripe about the missing MP (especially Uncharted 2's), but the company hopes to pull in newcomers this way.
