Up to this point last gen, it was a glaring hole in the PS3's life as well (F1 2007 was the last sim racer Sony had to that point with that license). I think it's much less a "starvation" and more that people are really enjoying the game, the most, on the console platform with more sales.
First mistake, neither Uncharted nor Call of Duty are, "on-rails". second mistake, nobody is really comparing those genres. The article certainly hasn't, which means you've missed the point.
Tell me about it. As I guy who came up long before the info era, today's gamers, many of them, just make those nostalgic memories all the stronger.
As a Titan X Superclocked SLI owner, my night has been completed on this confirmation! At the same time, if it rids the need for SLI (or Crossfire, take your pick), it would have to enable memory stacking to make the most sense!
Indeed. The latest version to fully download is 4.7.6.
Thus far, I've not seen any reason for any of these games to be scared of each other, but a game on one platform will hardly make the dent of Call of Duty or Battlefront, regardless if it's Halo or not.
That's what I look forward to!
The only thing I don't get is why you're continuing to argue an experience with me that I've had and you have yet to have. You've not had the experience. I have.
Agree to disagree. It's a stalemate.
To a degree, I can see where you're coming from, but the 12GB of VRAM is definitely NOT overkill for demanding games like Crysis 3 in 4K (a res that I run). In fact, it's just what the doctored ordered.
That said, I'd agree that it's overkill for many other things, but as mentioned, it's all about perspective and usage. 12GB leaves a lovely cushion for future stuff, particularly DirectX 12 applications.
@ marlinfan: Interestingly, I've only ever commented in here about this situation. In the same breath, it's fairly obvious you have no back up argument, or you would have been able to debate it reasonably.
Just so you're on the same page, I replied to a post which implied that both might see similar boosts from the new API. I just gave my view that objects. Nothing wrong with that. It certainly trumps the generic: "who cares" reply that clearly shows tha...
@ LordMe: They used 4 Titan X's, yes, but that's not to say that it will REQUIRE that many to run it efficiently.
For example, the recent "Kite demo" from NVIDIA, occupying the UE4, ran on one Titan X. Yet, people can still run it on lesser cards. The demos are never released in a state that requires the absolute maximum.
The power of the Titan X most definitely justifies the VRAM amount. Anyone who's extensively used the card can attest to this. Issue is price, and when I say that, I mean out of reach for most gamers.
The 980 Ti looks to rectify the situation, given the (rumored) specs.
The X1 will see some improvements, yes, but nothing like what will be seen on PC.
Edit: Considering the loads of disagrees, I'm up for anyone to dispute what was said. I've yet to see it suggested that both platforms would see equal treatment. So elaboration is welcomed.
Perhaps, though I doubt it will change games that much for X1.
For me, if they can get a real game to look like that Final Fantasy demo, I can really put my Titan X's to good use!
@ star: Nah, I look at the evidence in front of me. The two gens are actually nothing alike and the majority of people who post about it agree that it is more like the generation prior.
I can't help if you choose to remain blindfolded, however.
@ star_lancer: As I, and others, can see, you completely missed the point. You posted mostly opinions. Factually, the two gens are nothing alike. Not the same price points, sales curves, catch ups, release schedules. Nada.
People can call it how they see it, especially since it is clear cut. One of them is winning, by a wide margin (wider than any gap between the 360 and PS3, last gen), and the circumstances are nothing alike (no year head start and no major price advantage). This is on top of other things that would have just naturally worked in Sony's favor (bigger presence around the world). The X1 is no PS3. There won't be a sudden catch up, because it lacks the global appeal of PlayStation.
...
This gen and last gen are nothing alike at all.
OT: I suspect this will continue.
I'm liking this PC/PS4 release pack of recent games. I get their original vision with PS4 version and the maxed out version with the PC game. Best of both worlds!
Not sure how you reached this conclusion, but if it's by Metascores, NFS: Rivals has an 80 on the PS4, while DRIVECLUB sits at a 71. Not that Metacritic is any real metric that I'd use, but those are definitely good scores. DRIVECLUB is actually a fantastic game (the one I own out of those). You should check it out, sometime.
I'd say just offer credit where due, but it seems like that is pulling teeth for a small bunch in here.
