Too strong? Not to take anything from the X1's library, but it is hardly Earth shattering. Certainly not enough to put down the PS4, which is what you're insinuating.
OT: An incline is always a positive regarding sales, but we'd need to know what the figures before making a realistic judgment call on it.
Already being left behind? I've seen more cross gen titles in the 8th generation than any previous and I've been around since the 2nd. It's about TIME those consoles are let go.
Keep this in mind - the Wii U launched in 2012, it's already mid-2015. The 360 launched in 2005. What does this say? It's BEEN time to move on!
Didn't read you read the article? XD
This might be the closest Xbox-only people will get to a P.T.-esque experience. Can't go wrong there!
@ LAWSON: Indeed, my error. That was Visceral. My point, however, is unchanged. Not every DICE game released was broken. So that is a fallacy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
A close look at that list shows plenty of titles that weren't broken at their launches. The team is very respected within the gaming community, hence my original point.
@ Dudebro: Um, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, and Dead Space 2 would like a word with you. All worked out of the box just fine, and that only scratches the surface.
However, thank you for aiding my point about people who complain.
They can be a mean, hateful bunch whether you piss them off or not. Someone will always have something to complain about, and thus, we see developers often playing it safe.
Fortunately, DICE is a wonderful company with positive track record.
My sentiments, reflected!
The article is interesting, but to sum up my answer in one word, it would be a resounding: no. To win worldwide, they'd need 1. a year head-start, 2. worldwide strength, and 3. a major price advantage.
1 and 3 helped the 360, but 2 has NEVER been the case for Xbox. Thus, no, it cannot win worldwide.
Basically. One can only imagine the, "party backstage" from SCEi during E3 2013. It was a corporate massacre on-stage.
Joel and Ellie's story doesn't need a sequel, but a new game in the franchise couldn't (and won't - since it's inevitable) hurt. But then, I said this two years ago when I first read this article (yes, it was published in July of 2013).
Well put!
@ Mikefizzled: Yeah, let's take stuff out of the conference to make it work in our favor. The same could be said for Microsoft's show and backwards compatibility. Outside of that, I didn't hear much about it. Since it doesn't work like that, that bit is void.
Much of this was uncalled for. It's one thing to be a known fanatic of a specific brand. It's another thing to then frequent the articles of a competing brand, and cause trouble while doing so.
OT: I saw just a few seconds of the newer stuff and just didn't want to go further. I know this game will be absolutely amazing (as I predicted would happen to this franchise since before Drake's Fortune launched). 2016. Nuff said!
Yes. As of now. Probably coming to PS4, later.
They already tried that with the 360. They made very little headway.
Your argument has shifted. You said a massive shortfall of exclusives, not how they're received. But even with that, you'd still be wrong.
As for the Wii U vs PS4, that's complete nonsense, but I'm sure you know that.
A massive "shortfall" of exclusives compared to what, exactly? Doesn't it have MORE games than the PS3 in the same time-frame, in addition to, more games (both exclusive and non-exclusive) than the Xbox One (its closest competitor)? What exactly is the issue for this 1.5 year old machine?
Gamescom is over a month and a half away. So, I agree, seems a bit surprising that we heard nothing about it last week.
Your second sentence answers the issue for itself. It's not the PS4 that's moving so slow, as it is Japan's declining interest in the console segment. That considered, the PS4 is doing fine there.
FFVII Remake will be plenty to boost sales, however, and with this, Square is, basically, confirming that the PS4 will be the only console to play this on (as I always suspected, PS4 release first, PC down the line).
