Metacritic doesn't negate what I said, though. You said: "Halo 5 is king and always has been the king of the fps genre." Well, first thing wrong is Halo 5 isn't even out yet. Second, Halo: Combat Evolved is the original game, and if Metacritic is the end all, be all, you make it out to be, Halo 4 shows a decline in the series. Plus, that makes Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the best game of all time, being that it sits even higher than Halo: CE on Metacritic.
All subjective, of course. For me, none of the big FPS franchises are my top. That would go to F.E.A.R. for single player and Goldeneye 007, on the N64, for multiplayer. Half-Life 2 gets an honorable mention and Unreal Tournament III is my favorite arena shooter. As I said, the nature of opinion!
OT: In regards to this piece, I'm most excited about Blacks Ops III and Battlefront.
Well, with 2016 being a big year for TWO machines, it can easily be argued that you can have a better line-up (or at least, a comparable one).
PS4 - 2016
- Uncharted 4: Among Thieves
- Horizon: A New Dawn
- Ratchet & Clank
- The Last Guardian
- Neir 2
- Star Ocean 5
- Street Fighter V
- Hellblade
When taken at face value, I'd say both consoles have comparably awesome line-ups.
I'm curious, how, exactly, is the X1 an: "unparalleled machine"?
OT: I wouldn't call their turnaround miraculous. They had to adjust and change things quite a bit. It's good to see the brand hasn't completely tanked, however. The Gamescom show, as well, was fantastic!
Wait, wait. But, isn't this very article written on the "lack of a Sony Gamescom press conference"? If that's the case, and Sony will certainly have more shows this year, are you now saying that a conference doesn't matter because the X1, supposedly, has more content? * head scratcher *
How does this work, again?
Europe, huh? Europe alone, huh? I guess that explains Sony's worldwide lead. You know, everywhere.
Xbox One is the better console experience "for you". I can dig that. But let's not lie to ourselves about why each console is where it is today. In fact, even without MS's early blunders, I'll go out on a limb and say that Sony would still be ahead.
Without the worldwide market, the Xbox will never win. Can they change that? In EU, I&...
I have a revelation: outside of, perhaps the US and UK, it never will. At this point, lets just accept that and look for other things to discuss.
I'd say it was a slow news day, but nah. Gamescom is here. That said, when these "article writers" come join us back down on Earth, maybe these pieces will be fun to read again. A conference suddenly gives a competitor the edge? I've seen it all.....I think.
Indeed. One of those moments where you just look at who's posting it, know the history, and basically keep it moving. The bubble amount continues to baffle me.
OT: Anyway, just counting the days down (last three weeks to go, in fact)! Have been watching this baby since it was a PS3 game and here we are! Almost out!
Well, it isn't a failure. I don't get this type of question, though..... They showed games. Plenty of them. This is, in addition to (the X1 I'm finally buying), the Halo 5 LE console. Not a lot of new announcements? No big deal.
I'd say - be happy that games are coming and the industry lives on. For that, the Xbox "accomplished" (the article claims this was stolen by other things) what it set out to do.
Street Fighter II on the SNES - Dhalsim Ending
Music 27 - exact track.
It can't "devalue" the console when you're getting the game for free.
If you don't have a PS4, why wouldn't it be? You get a Limited Edition console, a FULL copy of Destiny, and it won't cost you any extra.
He's a poster you shouldn't get too worked up about. Take a look at his post history.
OT: In regards to sales, no doubt. Games, well, that's in the eyes of each individual. Thus far, I can't speak on anything BUT the PS4 (won't have an X1 till Halo 5 and I've yet to buy a Wii U).
I DEFINITELY got a chuckle there! :D
OT: Anyway, this was the best game of E3, for me! Every new piece of info has been great!
Especially for PS4, PC, AND X1 owners. When claiming that you are one for being impartial, make sure to actually BE impartial. ;)
@ StrayaKNT: Not that it's a bad line-up, per se, but this line-up looks rather familiar. Halo, Forza, Gears, with a little Tomb Raider sprinkled in. It's a good line-up, for certain, but nothing Earth-shattering.
What the 360 had in 2007, now THAT felt brutal!
I don't know if its GOTY status is so set in stone (it has to compete with Bloodborne, The Witcher III - that we know of so far, and then the unreleased MGSV and Battlefront), but I'm sure it will be nominated without a hitch!
Just getting close to the PS2 would be good enough in my eyes! This thing is guaranteed to outsell the original PlayStation, which is an amazing feat in and of itself. So catching, or even passing, the PS2 would be out of this world.
That said, this article is poorly written. Takes very little consideration of price, staple releases, nor the complete market shift.
Ultimately, no matter how much spin you apply, you're talking nonsense, and I showed you how.
As Major N. once said: conversation over.
Hmmm...I'd wager that Need for Speed is more directly comparable to DRIVECLUB than Forza, and even more to Ridge Racer than either of the other two.
That said, there wasn't much game-play shown here, but NFS titles are known to be good. So I expect no different this time, either!
