@ Master: Oh, I read that and his Tweet (that's why I said it "may not" have existed without them, as opposed to Sony saving the IP). 2017/18 was no guarantee, and Sony stepping in has made it not only for sure reality, but much sooner. In that respect, you and I are on the same page.
Just seems like some people would prefer to tell themselves that Street Fighter V would have happened exactly as it did, regardless of what comes from the horse's mouth.
@ thisgamer503: You can't be sure of an opinion, especially when it can be refuted.
That said, agree to disagree. I'll be happy to continue this discussion when it can be proven that Sony "bankrolled" Capcom to give them a "small game" like SFV.
Nah, I think it will do well enough for itself that it shouldn't be impacted much by Metal Gear. I'm sure Sony aren't expecting this to be a mega seller. In fact, I'd imagine they'd be just fine @ 1-2 million (given the horror genre).
That said, I wouldn't even call this a sleeper hit! People are expecting it to be good, and from the looks of things, I 100% agree and can't wait for this next month to pass!
I have no reason not to believe it. Unlike what you've presented, which is merely an opinion, I'm happy to take the word of both Capcom and Sony. Thus, the two situations you deem the same are very much different. Tomb Raider is a timed Xbox One/360 exclusive and SFV is a console exclusive to PS4, permanently.
Not really much else to discuss.
In Street Fighter's case, the massive fan-base is on the PS4. Also, Sony didn't approach Capcom for the game, it was the other way around (which is NOT the case with Tomb Raider, where it didn't need anyone to step in).
That's why the two scenarios shouldn't continue to be compared. Microsoft paid for a year of exclusivity (essentially, locking out PS4 owners and being a typical "money-hat"). SFV is being co-developed by Sony and may not have exi...
Hmmm...doesn't the PS4 have more games that are a higher resolution AND frame-rate? If so, your comment makes no sense.
OT: While this is definitely old news, as others have pointed out, the difference(s) in machine specs are well documented. Thus, nobody should be getting worked up.
For me...
Until Dawn
Gears Ultimate
Nathan Drake Collection
Forza 6
Halo 5
2K16 -PS4-
ROTR
Battlefront |PC|
Black Ops III |PC|
Except that it's a general statement and proves absolutely nothing. Pointless to ponder, though, as it has been cancelled.
Um, then what's the point in ever waiting for ANY game to release?
Those AAA games have to start releasing for it to be dominant. The PS4 has already seen three (The Order, Bloodborne, MLB).
AAA = budget. The X1 has not had even one of those release this year, yet. Forza, Gears Ultimate, Halo, and Tomb Raider vs the three I mentioned for Sony + Until Dawn, God of War III Remastered, and The Nathan Drake Collection (though I'm not sure if the Remaster(s) in either case are AAA, but still, the point is the same).
Looks to ...
No need to be cautious in this case. It was at 20.2 million as of Feb 2015. By November 2016, it should have crossed the 45 million mark. Remember, that's over a year from now and we've not heard anything else about the numbers (sold to consumer, not shipped) for nearly 6 months.
I feel like we get one of these articles AT LEAST once a week. Why don't we wait until the holidays begin to kick into gear before making said assumptions (particularly when one of the very foundations this article bases itself on is the Xbox One, outselling its main competitor, in ONE region, for ONE WEEK). Yeah, that sounds pretty ridiculous to me too.
Bottom line, as I've said before, the US, and potentially, the UK will be a place where the X1 can match/pass the P...
Most likely because the situations are not the same. Beyond that, when ROTR was announced, it wasn't given a title of "exclusive". FFVII Remake was unveiled as "first on PS4" from the get-go.
I'm also thinking that it will be a PS4/PC only game, but that's a debate for another day.
I was just having this debate with you the other day, and you insisted that you were not only "pro-Sony", but that your post history proved it. In here, however, you have, once again, proven the complete opposite. I've tried to give you the benefit of the doubt quite a bit, but once something is exposed, and often, the truth is the truth.
Also, we debated about this Tomb Raider deal vs SFV on PS4 and you also insisted that the situations were, and would remain, ...
By next holiday, it will be FAR beyond 30 million.
OT: I'll be getting it on the One this holiday and then on Steam early next year. Still, good to see PS4 owners will get their own version.
@ lvl_headed_gmr: Sounds more like you're just having a hard time accepting others' opinions. It's subject that Microsoft's show was not only better, but favored by the rest of the world.
As a "level headed person", I'd expect you to reflect that.
@ Letthe: I think you are right. Had forgotten that they did it last December. So even better.
Also, at your reply to him, it's a shame to think that he has so many people agreeing with him. Anyone that truly cares for gaming, first, would have appreciated both shows and the things that everyone has to offer. The underground fanatics, however, seem to be showing themselves, here.
Sony has their own scheduled events, which is why there is no Gamescom show. Paris Games Show is in October, for example. VGAs (or VGXs) in December, and then the PlayStation Experience is in February (just before Uncharted 4's rumored release period). They have plenty to come.
As for the "onslaught" of games Microsoft showed, in conjunction to what Sony showed, would you mind sharing what those are?
Doing PS4 numbers isn't something it's likely to ever achieve. Thus, that's unfair to place that kind of expectation on it.
However, with revenue up, a positive is a positive.
@ Lambo: As others, and I, have already stated, it will have enough time to shine on its own. Two different games and Until Dawn has a week to sell.
