It doesn't appear that it said anything regarding "better" and "worse". He's talking sales, which is probably spot on. The PS4 will continue to lead, despite all the pointless noise around the net.
OT: What does it mean? Nothing will really change in the grand scheme of it all. Sony will still release plenty of games and Xbox will continue to compete. No hidden code here.
One of my favorite games that released on PC last year! A few technical hiccups here and there, but the story was VERY engaging and the graphics were a sight to behold.
I highly doubt they are worried about what happened with The Order/DRIVECLUB (not really any consistency there, either, given the release periods). This is Sony's 2nd biggest IP we're talking about here, not an unreleased new IP.
After Uncharted 3, Naughty Dog said they wouldn't dedicate themselves to rushed released dates anymore. It happened with The Last Of Us and is happening now.
More power to them.
With all due respect, if the PS4 is in a, "drought", (and has not only more digital games out, but retail too), what is the X1's situation like?
Such questions will never make sense to me. It's like asking can the GTX 960 (or even 970) one day, "catch up", to the 980 in performance. It's just mathematically and physically impossible, no matter how much optimization goes on.
One of them will always be more powerful, so no catching up will ever occur.
@ Edward: Well, that was my point. Anecdote doesn't really dictate anything. My GameStop, for example, has had very few trade-ins, but quite a few had picked it up. This isn't really much difference to many other games that release here, either. If anything, Call of Duty is often the franchise with our highest trade-in rate.
Seems like a premature assessment, for sure. I wasn't even aware of the second week's sales. Also, I'd like to know how one finds GameStop's return figures (outside of anecdote).
OT: Nah, I'm fine with the $60 I paid for it. I still haven't completed the game, but it has, thus far, been the best title I've played all year (right next to Life Is Strange: Episode 1).
Value is in the eye of the beholder (yep, exactly like beauty), so ...
The PS4 isn't really starving for exclusives. In fact, it has more than its closest competitor. What it lacks is what most PlayStation consoles lack at this point in their lives, a killer app. Things don't generally start heating up for Sony until about year three, anyway. This year, however, the PS4 will see at least two heavy hitters in the form of Bloodborne and Uncharted. Everything else, that's good, is icing!
In regards to The Order, it solidified my view to...
Didn't the physical copies of Dying Light just release, there? If so, it makes perfect sense that it would, "kick", The Order out of the top spot.
I'd say to know how The Order is really looking, how does it compare to the previous week worldwide and how it will do in the following 2 to three weeks? That will be what determines if it's truly legging it out or not.
It has been said before, no doubt. Remember the PS3's early days? "No gaemz"? Have we, already, forgotten how the end of that story turned out, just one generation later? Beyond that, the PS4 has more retail and digital games out then its nearest competitor. So what does your comment say about said competitor?
I get that it's cool for some to follow the, "glass-half-empty", approach, but let's at least be knowledgeable and consistent.
Best policy to practice! With such inconsistencies of late, there's just no reason to take reviews serious anymore. Beyond that, most players seem to really like the game.
I'm on Chapter 6 and it's the best 3rd person game I've played in a while!
Any PC gamer will tell you that there are other things that cause more slowdowns and such.
This is just an un-optimized game. It's a mess on the PC as well. Thus, it isn't a matter of hardware superiority when stronger machine(s) than the X1 have the shoddier versions of this title.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but unfortunately, this is one of those "Exhibit As" of what happens with very, very rare X1 wins - you get folks out of the woodwork who would, otherwise, be non-existent.
In reality, it's pretty obvious that Capcom severely screwed this one up.
Had I paid any significant attention to The Order's reviews, I wouldn't be thoroughly enjoying it to the degree that I am. I think many of its criticism(s) are VASTLY overblown and it is the final nail in the coffin, from my perspective, about reviewers. I'll continue to avoid them like the plague, unless a game has "dud" written all over prior to release.
Bloodborne? Uncharted? I'd also wager that Until Dawn is one of the MOST interesting looking games I've seen in a while (my most anticipated this year, in fact). If you look beneath the surface, you'll find that there's more than meets the eye. Your personal wants/needs aren't universally reflected (and neither are mine). However, and with all due respect, to claim all of what you claimed shows a narrow viewpoint that I hope will never be contagious.
I think the key word(s) are, "we've come to expect", and, "Uncharted", "Metal Gear Solid", "Halo". Two of those franchises are over a decade old and I'd wager that there really isn't a rule on what anyone has come to expect. 7.5/10 is above average, which for a new IP, is fantastic! It's also one score. Can't draw up a reasonable consensus on a lone voice.
Quick check through history offers us Uncharted: Drake's ...
Regarding The Order: 1886's current internet situation, this is about as reasonable as it can get, really. I'm not knocking anyone with genuine concerns, but it does feel like each new article about this game is a re-hash/re-do of a previous one.
Because the reviews for won't really sway me (I'm buying it regardless of their input), I'm not in this category, but if you're truly worried about quality/length/what have you, the wait for reviews (which I b...
I didn't say he was lying (one doesn't have to lie to mislead), I'm saying the picture isn't what he paints. We can debate definitions and such all we want, but nothing suggests that the PS4 has peaked and its y-o-y decline can easily be explained away. This is on top of the fact that it doesn't even offer a complete representation of the situation - 2015 is only 2 months in.
Thus, the idea that there is something to worry about is outlandish without conte...
@ wonderful: But, the argument is not whether or not the X1 and Wii u have worked hard to pull themselves out of ruts, his statement was making the PS4's situation look worse than it is. Thus, that's why you have to take perspective into account.
For me, that safety happened in June 2013, with the announcement of, "$399.99." Everything else for Sony has just happened in all of the right places, very much like the PS2 era. Not saying it will quite hit the highs of 160 million, but at this rate, I'd wager that 100 million is a certainty and the PS4 could even hit between 120 and 130 million.
Basically, it seems like, unless Sony messes up out of the gate, ala PS3, a PlayStation system will always win by de...
