"It's not entirely clear why Sony's service tends to be completely overlooked"
Well, on Game Pass I get some new games on release day. I can actually skip buying a lot of games I was actually going to buy. So I save a lot.
On PS Now, I don't think they add new games. The ones I want to play I already have, or already played in the past.
Well, to be fair, I may subscribe to PS Now for one month to play RE Code: Veronica. It's a crime that Ca...
I agree with all points made in this article. Finding rare Blades through exploring or quests would've added so much to the game.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 basically proved that gacha system is bad even when you can't spend real money on it.
Regarding Kingdom Hearts, I think the article writer confused "convoluted" for "deep".
It's most probably true, but there aren't any consequences to be had. I really despise most of the big game companies and how they treat their employees, but in this case, it's an exaggeration.
Japan never declared a lockdown, but issued a "state of emergency", meaning that while the government was asking for as many people as possible to work from home, most companies didn't or couldn't turn to remote work, or only part of the staff worked fro...
I tried liking it, but the RPG parts and walking around didn't really appeal to me. The combat was good, and since it was made by Platinum, I wish it was more a hack'n slash as it's their strength.
I didn't see anything really new or different that justifies the "a re-imagined farm sim game" claim, but the graphics seem nice, and from what it was shown, it looks to be better than the average farm sim game. Battle controls looks to be exactly like Stardew Valley's though, and that wasn't good at all.
All in all, I'll keep an eye on it, but I imagine Rune Factory 5, which will be released this year, will be a more complete and refined game (unless Marvel...
I think collectibles are a lazy way to add "content" to a game. Even worse, in some games like Resident Evil (Mr Racoon, Mr Everywhere, Tower Emblems...) they are just out of place and take me out of immersion. So knowing a game has collectibles actually counts as a negative for me.
I expect Kingdom Hearts levels of plot convolutedness and nobody knowing exactly what's happening in the story in a few years.
I don't remember a single time when a company that was bought started producing better games. Almost all times it's the opposite - their games' quality drops sharply.
So for us gamers, I don't think there are any advantages.
Having played the game for some time, I do need to completely disagree with the author's opinion "But there such a thing as too comfortable, too complacent.(...)"
In fact, I think they changed too much. The equipment weight system, the harshly downgraded chain battles system, the removal of the encounter slider since now enemies appear in the world, the nerfed job abilities, the high difficulty that can become frustrating for things like enemies countering so much...

Tigerblud is talking about FFVII Ever Crisis.
"Kingdom Hearts has a 2 decades-old continuous storyline that people are invested in."
Do you really count that as a plus? If a person never played a KH before and wants to try it with KH3, they will have to play 7 games before to understand the plot. I mean, "try" to understand it, because it's so convoluted that even those who played them all can't really understand it.
It being made for mobile already sucks, but I hope at least they ignore all the plot changes and Kingdom Hearts-like dialog they added in the "Remake".
The soundtrack is fantastic, and the battle system is great. I just wish it had a main plot joining them all instead of the separate plots and the thrown in sidequest leading to the secret boss. Them not having a common goal took me out of immersion, they didn't have any reason to be traveling together.
So they're basically doing what fans wanted with Ever Crisis, but making it for mobile...
"But there such a thing as too comfortable, too complacent. Bravely Default 2 feels like it wants its players to be warm and safe and unprovoked, but its audience might be reaching for something new, something surprising, and Bravely Default 2 is not that."
I still need to see for myself exactly how "safe" it is, but at first, this is a positive for me. Square Enix tries to do "new and surprising things" in Final Fantasy all the time, and it...
I find it extremely difficult to execute Shoryuken-like moves in this game, for some reason.
I would put Bravely Default as the best Final Fantasy spin off, even though it doesn't carry the Final Fantasy name (although the japanese version does have the subtitle Flying Fairy so it could carry the FF acronym).
About the games in the list, I like Dissidia 012 a lot, but my favorite is Theatrhythm. I still turn on my old 3DS from time to time to play a few songs.
I wish it had some remixed or orchestrated versions of the old songs, though. NES/SNES songs ...
I loveD him because his motives were mysterious. He double-crossed both STARS and Umbrella, faked his own death, was gathering different types of virus like shown in Code Veronica and RE4, so figuring out his endgame was exciting.
And then RE5 turned him into a traditonal villain that just wanted to spread a virus to kill the "unworthy", before turning into a monster himself and being killed. Lame and disappointing.
Well, at least they gave him ...
Since Rise is on Switch, I'd guess you can put the system on sleep mode during a hunt. For this alone, Rise is better.
I tried playing World on PC, but being an adult other things suddenly happen in life and it's hard to play uninterruptedly for 30 minutes or more. It sucks having to force-quit the game after spending time on a hunt, simply because it doesn't have a true pause.
