@Cmv38
Track record is no reason to buy a next gen console on day one. That actually re-affirms waiting a year.
I really want anyone to tell me a REAL gaming reason to buy either console day one this generation. Because right now it looks like both consoles will be $499. And at that price I can wait a year and get a better idea of what is going on, maybe save $100. and all I will really miss is spider-man (a sequel only two years after first game release), bec...
Yup, just like Sony's presentation except PC versions of the game won't ship on Day One.
Both Sony and Microsoft are convincing me more and more that I should wait a year before get a new console.
Since the highlight of the first nextgen year will be Spider-man and Halo Infinite. I can save some money if I wait a year for the price to drop $100 and the launch games go cheap plus I will get the second year games.
There is no com...
I thought there was a lot of good stuff shown at the event. But, just like the Sony event, I felt there were very few games that were imminent. In both events I felt the must play games were at least 2 years down the road not today.
@WireMucks
I spend $500 based on facts, not entirely based on past performance.
"all the best games of a decade" is a factual statement, that doesn't make me want to buy their next product at $500. That leans me to buy their next product. To buy their next product I want to see $500 worth of games that I really want to play. Spider-man alone is not worth a $500 investment. To some it may be, but not to me. I enjoyed the first Sony spider-man game...
Both big games reveals for the two consoles had very little to offer for Holiday 2020 and the year 2021.
Go back and watch both presentations. Very little committed to Holiday 2020 and 2021.
I didn't get a feeling from either console that we will see any truly nextgen games for at least two years.
A lot of people talked about how great and close the R&C game is on PS5. But, there was no Holiday 2020 or 2021 tagged to the game ...
neither consoles are must haves right now. looks like the launch lineup highlights are halo infinite and spider-man. no reason to buy a $500 console for either game.
And how many of the games in Sony's showcase are coming out in the next year?
Both shows were disappointing. Shows that there are very few games for next gen console launch. Don't see any reason to jump on either console. The highlight reel this year looks like Halo Infinite and Spider-Man. I'm not going to spend $500 to buy a new console to play either game.
Imagine trying to find skulls in the world when they can be anywhere available to the grappling hook?
LOL. If I put a drip cup below the console will it collect liquid gold from the probable heat the new console will create?
Ya, I was looking at buying the expansions on sale recently but decided they weren't cheap enough. Now I don't have to!
I am disappointed with both overall.
1) Very little specific ship dates
2) Not a lot of actual gameplay
It seems Sony and MS are playing cat and mouse right now. Neither willing to spill the beans and show their cards fully. I will buy neither console until I see the ACTUAL LAUNCH GAME LINEUP.
Both companies it is all fine and dandy to show future games, but I am not the type that is going to be hyped for the next three years...
Most stats in gaming are worthless.
Some people think console sales are important. In reality there 10's of millions of people that buy a console for only a few games and don't even play those games often.
Really the only meaningful stats to me are network and game subscription subscribers. Both indicate many people who are actively using their console otherwise they would cancel their subscriptions.
I am excited to here about the existing IPs in the show and how they will be re-imagined / re-invented...
But, I really want to see new stuff more!
As we approach the show, they have talked a lot about Halo much not much about the other stuff. My hype is turning into a bit of worry. Too much MC not enough other things.
To me, this is only news if it doesn't go well.
The software and service should work exactly as it did before from a user experience point of view.
Pac-man, Dig Dug, Centipede, Galaga, Space Invaders, etc. in 8K is completely realistic!
No, it can't. Within 2-3 years the console will not have new games anymore as both third party and first party studios start to really use the features of the new console. I suspect because of the leap this generation it will be closer to 2 years.
Hey, they tried to get into a market that they wanted to get it in and it did not work out for them.
I would rather them try a bunch of new things and fail at some of them then try nothing at all. Every company has its share of failed things they try (Some more expensive then others). But, again, the willingness to gamble billions is a good thing. Shows they are willing to take risks.
Here we are literally about 3-4 months before these new consoles ship and there isn't a price or ship date.
Yes it is really good that MS chose not to charge an extra price for xCloud. I see this as a supplement to my gaming and MS is giving me with my ultimate gamepass service. That is only good news to me.
Does Sony first party have:
Any game to compete with Halo Infinite?
Any games compete with Avowed?
Any games to compete with Psychonauts?
Any games to compete with Sea of Thieves?
Any games to compete with Fable?
Any games to compete with Outer Wolds Gogron expansion?
The reality is that both companies have different IPs that play in different spaces. Your post implies that MS has to have a 1-for-1 competing IP with Son...
