Of all the games for this Holiday season this is the one that I am most interested in.
15 years ago I would buy games very often on day one.

Last month I decided there are enough and good games on those two subscriptions that I don't need to buy games anymore.

Coincidently I have been playing this game this week for the first time.
It takes some time to understand the table and get used to the effects, but it is a pretty fun game.
The one gripe I have is the achievements on XB. The stated achievements does not match the requirements to get the achievements in some cases.
I don't know why people make pics of XSS being smaller than XSX. There is nothing to support the idea that an XSS would have less physical space or cooling requirements.

Really it is this generation console launch is just sad.
MS is doing the right thing though. Personally I thought the Halo demo was fine. But, I wasn't looking at buying either console this year. It is really sad that both console launch lineups are nothing to get excited about.
These console vendors are asking gamers to probably pay $500 for a console, yet neither has anything that really can't run on the current generatio...
Sony wouldn't have let Daybreak go if they felt the studio was going in the right direction and supplying games that would sell.
Also, I have never seen a game taken over by another studio mid-way through development become successful.
I am dubious as to the quality this game will deliver!
Console price is a factor in some people's decision making for sure. It is in mine as well. But it is less of a factor then the games lineup.
And given that I can play Halo Infinite on XBO, and that is pretty much the launch highlight I think I will wait at least another year before picking up the next gen XB. The launch price is not justified by the games lineup.

I actually think similarly on fighting games like Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Injustice, etc. Every time I go to play them I think... "OK, this time I am not going to randomly mash buttons". and every time the frustration level sets in I go back to randomly mashing buttons.

So, a sequel two a game that is barely two years old is justification for spending $500. They didn't say it was a whole new engine, didn't say it would be just as long as the current Spider-man game, Didn't give any detail on any new features, but as long as it is the same as the current game (except different story and better graphics) it is worth spending $500 + $60 for the game? Please state what great new game that will ship on either the new Microsoft or Sony console this year to make it worth spending the probable $500 price tag? Better yet, please state a great game that was announced at either the Sony or Microsoft conference that gamers will not be able to live without in 2021 that makes the $500 probable price tag worth it? And please back it up with a quoted ship year in the showcase of either company. Not a date you think it will ship on.
This kind of game diversity is good. I know there are people who call these games boring. But, I bought Flight Simulator since its original versions in the 80's and I have always found it interesting. Can't wait to play this version with all the realism it adds.
I am not going to sit here and say xCloud is the greatest thing since sliced bread or the ultimate gaming feature that is a "game changer" or "system seller". To me, streaming is another option to play when I don't have my console easily accessible to me or to stream directly from. It won't be my primary way to play for the forseeable future.

And that is really my point. there have been format wars in other entertainment media for sure. But, at the end of the day, the industry came to their senses and decided that they were content creators, not hardware manufacturers. So now we are left with blu-ray players as the standard format that is supported by all major movie makers.

But, will someone please explain to me why the hardware of XB and PS are almost exactly the same architecture except for a few components but in order to play all the games I want to play I have to buy both a PS and XB device. To me that is completely ridiculous.
The gaming industry is the only entertainment industry between gaming, music, and movies where I cannot buy a generic hardware to play...

Street Fighter V improved a lot from launch, but it really tainted the franchise for me. Maybe some new leadership will mean a better game next round from Day One.

Crystal Dynamics is a pretty solid developer and they haven't really had success outside of Tomb Raider. Until recently I was ignoring this game.
It looks interesting, but I am not sure yet. From the videos I've seen the graphics and framerates appear suspect. I will wait until after it releases and make a decision from there. I am not sure that would've made sense as I think VR is still in its infancy from an adoption point-of-view. But nonetheless, I think that they should support VR and have it as part of XB as it give gamers more choice.
Personally, I would not buy it, but there are many that probably would. LOL. My Oculus Rift is collecting dust, and I have therefore avoided PSVR on my PS4 Pro. - There are some fundamentals on VR that keep me away from it now and going forward.
They can take as long as they need to. The reality is that CyberPunk is going to be the real must-have game this Holiday season. Everything else is a distant 2nd and below.
